It's always interesting to hear people say someone can't act. I wonder how they define bad acting. I can't say I notice a major difference between this guy's acting and Heath Ledger's. Heath has just played some more extreme roles, so the comparison isn't very fair. I definitely don't think Ashton's acting is bad, but I would like some youtube links or something of scene's that people feel really showcases his horrible acting skills.

Agreed completely. I think a lot of the times it depends on the role too. I never thought Heath Ledger was worth a d@mn as an actor, but then he just absolutely nailed the part of joker, just an epic performance.

You didn't think his performance in "Brokeback Mountain" was noteworthy?

IMO, he utterly "nailed" the part of a married, conflicted, closeted gay cowboy who lost his true love.

Most portrayal roles are interpretations of another person. The actor, director, etc will aim for a certain sweet spot that they think will make the film popular and profitable.

Too many here are thinking of an exact replica of Jobs and a film that may be more art than what Hollywood has in mind.

We could expect the later film to be more of an intense, darkly artistic venture that might win more awards, if not customers. There is room for both approaches.

Again, how does this set a good actor apart from a bad actor? I mean, sure, some people just totally can't act, but then, close to all of those people are not actors. The people who are actors, usually can act. This 'nailing' of a married, conflicted, closeted gay cowboy who lost his true love is much more of a script thing than it being about the actor. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying actors are disposable or whatever, but I think people often get a script and the lines someone says mixed up with their acting skills.

Althogh Ashton Kutcher doesn't have a great reputation, I'm willing to give this biopic a chance. Who knows how this will turn out?

That's what I thought till I saw the butterfly effect. You know not of what you speak

I saw the Butterfly Effect and if you want to throw the Guardian in there as well, be my guest. Kutcher makes a fair to midland attempt at serious roles, but doesn't come close to the finish line.

A Steve Jobs, Ashton Kutcher is not, reality or fantasy.
