I once read several books (re-reading the Hitchhikers Guide series, among other things) on a Palm Pilot - with a 160 x 160 pixel monochrome screen. It's possible, but, yeah, bigger screens are better for reading. Only reason to read a book on my iPhone is because I have it with me; otherwise, the iPad is much better for that.
at the time that Palm Pilot came out, ~ 30 years or so ago, my eyes would have been fine ;)
but now, not so much ;(

I like the innovative spirit, but the problem with this product is a phone is already easy to hold. Even a large phone is small enough that you can comfortably hold it by the edges in one hand pretty much indefinitely, so I don't see this product solving any problem. Trying to use a large phone with one hand however is a different story, but a magsafe Pop Socket or Snap is I think a more practical solution.

Even if these became popular, there is no way they will sell a $40 iPhone holder for long. Some competitors will offer them for $4 each.

Seriously, I think I could make one using my 3D printer for about 40 cents each.

$40 is a bit much (… more than a “bit much” actually, lol). However, I like the idea of an accessory that makes the iPhone looks like a book.

I would like better if it looked even more book-like. Go further and make the center (that is outwardly-visible) appear to be the spine of a book.

Sometimes you just want to be a little more discrete when you are reading. Or maybe that’s a habit I’ve picked-up in Japan. Often people cover their books with plain brown paper covers so other people cannot see what they are reading. Sometimes I want to be reading something on my iPhone without people know that I’m using an iPhone.

I wouldn’t pay $40 for this, but there is definitely a market out there for something like this. They don’t seem to have a Japanese language version to their store. Maybe they should look into that.

I mean, if you want it to look like a book: BookBook for iPhone.
That’s not quite what I had in mind. Although that does look cool. Thank you for telling me about that. 😁

What I meant is that I specifically don’t want my phone to look like a phone (in certain situations). And that case you linked to still looks very much like a phone.

I typed up a second reply (above your reply) to explain what I mean by that.

$40? I'm quite sure I can find something similar in the kitchen or garage.

I wanted to make a joke, but it is ridiculously stupid and funny on its own.

this product is idiotic beyond words

Just think about it folks..

The team behind this company put thousands of dollars of their friends and families money behind this idea.

I truly hope they kept their day jobs.

If Mr. Astropad is reading this - I pray your parents don’t kick you out of the basement.

I really want you to succeed but it’s not this.
