Whoa there my friend. M2 renders multiple 8k videos in editing software.
Even the lowly MacAir M2 runs 8k. 8k video is 4 times larger than 4k, so two 4k(ish) displays is easy for the VisionPro.
Yes, that’s an application which Apple silicon is particularly strong at. But I was talking about a true VR environment rendered realtime in 3D (unlike the AR that is VisionOS).

No, because they are not sold in Europe. 🤣

On a technological level I find them very interesting, and they are extraordinary compared to what is already available.

On an ethical or moral level, I find them objectionable, especially in terms of presentation. I thought Apple was going to show that the glasses do not isolate, but no, they showed just that, how they isolate you from the real world.

The presentation in its "uses" gave me the feeling of showing us dystopian scenes, like the first one in the living room with the glasses on and fake "eyes" looking at the person next to you.

The father recording memories with those glasses. And then watching the "memories" alone, in a house by himself, the truth is that it was the part that generated me more rejection of the whole Keynote.

I want to see other functionalities and see how they develop, but the failed Google Glass seemed to me to be considerably less intrusive than these glasses and it's those kinds of glasses that generate the most interest for me, because they don't show you a fake reality, they show you an augmented reality.

The Vision Pro shows you a fake world, a fake FaceTime avatar, fake eyes... and I actually like the world enough not to get even more into an unreal world.

I think Apple should team up with Nintendo to bring games to the Vision Pro. Mario Kart where you are actually driving the kart in an immersive environment. Zelda and Super Mario are pretty much 3D already.

Here is my gratuitous “take my money” comment.

To be serious, I will buy one and if I start saving some discretionary funds now, I will have enough by release date :p

However, the U.S. economy is still a little uncertain. I think some people who are gung-ho to buy would change their minds in 10-12 months when it releases if we are in a recession.

I’m a day 1 purchase. This is a big deal and I want in. I had a lot of hours in on my PSVR and that wasn’t even a particularly high quality setup. I can’t wait to see what kind of versatility this thing unlocks in my workday. There will be a lot of armchair quarterbacks here on the forums talking about this thing and declaring it DOA at that price. Pay them no mind. This is going to usher in a new era.

I won't for sure. I'm still skeptical regarding the utility, and the price is also too high for a gadget.

My hunch is that it will be very hard to get one anyway for at least two years. Even if it seems to be very polished already, I think it's more of a late beta product that still needs a lot of refinement.

Definitely not, with the caveat that in 4-5 years I’ll be ready for a new Mac and will certainly check out whatever the Vision of 2029 is.

3 or 4 iterations from now, these things are going to look more like chunky sunglasses. 3 or 4 after that, who knows what kind of crazyness they’ll be able to pull off. I’m so excited.

Going to try it out , hopefully by launch they will have great content to showcase , as this was a 30 min demo to try and cover some aspects they thought Is important , I want to know the content that will be available , the "sit court side for an NBA game" is a platform seller if its done in high quality , as today nothing can do it in a way you can enjoy it.
If on day1 there will be enough content , im probably biting the bullet for this one !!
What I would love is to have it working with a racing simulator of some sort , iRacing , AC 2 , that is also an insta buy for me if its good.

If I actually had that kind of money to spend on anything I would pre order it on day one hands down. I could set aside my tax refund for it, but that $3500 could help my family in many other ways, like keeping my oldest busy with summer camps and, you know, doing things like paying the mortgage and feeding us. I don’t see myself being able to get it ever lol but as soon as I’m able, I’d definitely pull the trigger.

I find it interesting that it is call xrOS Device in XCode, instead of visionOS. Maybe they will update that very soon.

Totally depends on if I can convince my work it is a laptop replacement. Then yes someone will buy one for me. So is it a laptop replacement?

I'm not so sure. Yes technology improves with time we know that, but look at the iPhone, yes they are more capable but they are like both larger and heavier now compared to the original to incorporate that capability. I think these headsets will remain of a similar size, scale and weight for some time yet.

I still think the Achilles heel of this product remains the battery at just 2 hours and I just don't know how this will be able to significantly improve without some major breakthrough in battery technology, or just huge swappable batteries.

Hard to know right now - will wait until content is developed by third parties like Disney and others.

Price is too much for me but it is interesting that among high end AR/VR headsets this is very price competitive and much better.

Also on pricing…the gen 2 will be 3500 and at that time they will still sell the current model for 2999. And I expect them to do that until the 3rd gen until they come out with a dedicated SE model similar to the watch approach. Sell the old tech at a discount.

Most AAA games are written in C++. Now, with Swift and C++ interoperability it should be extremely easy to port games over to Mac silica. We will just have to see if the hardware has the huevos.
