this apple we talking about
But Apple has always given the 16" a faster CPU than the smaller one. To get the fastest CPU, you always had to over spend on a bulky heavy monstrosity that was embarrassing to take to the coffee shop and uncomfortable to use on the couch. I once ordered the latest new MacBook Pro i7 in an 11 inch, not realizing it was a "custom build" that would have immediate screen problems and need to be returned. I didn't know it was a "custom build" shipped directly from China until they told me when I brought it back to the Apple store, like, what were you thinking trying to put an i7 in an 11 inch? Right?

If they annonce the new 16" model, will they remove the current Intel 16" model from the Apple Store immediately after?

I ask because I would like to update my 15" to latest Intel 16" (the next one if they offer a intel model or the current one otherwise). However, I'm afraid that if I wait too long, they could remove the current Intel 16" before I could order it.
Yes they likely will like they did with the Intel Air and baseline Pro

You will probably end up with the current 16" model. I don't see them offering a new Intel. I could be wrong, though.

Also what doesn’t make sense is how they redesigned the base line iMac but not the base line pro… but here we are…

think about it saying then putting an M1 in the 16” would have been done last year with the 13” is the equivalent as saying them refreshing the design of the 16” makes no sense because they would have redesigned last years model already.

The one thing that makes me think we may not get a redesigned MBP this year is the Touch Bar still being present on the base MBP… it just seems weird to me that Apple will keep that only on the baseline pro and literally nothing else in the line up…

iMac Pro was introduced as a stop-gap before Mac Pro became available. It was discontinued because it no longer serves any purpose, especially given the popularity of large and ultrawide monitors.

It was fully expected last year's M1 MacBook Pro would use a carry over design. No engineering team would want to fully redesign the logic board and the chassis, all at once. No reason to take a risk like that.

We're just three days away from Apple's annual developers conference, WWDC, but rumors are still divided as to whether new MacBook Pro models with Apple silicon will be announced at Apple's opening keynote on Monday.

Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty weighed in on the matter in a research note shared with MacRumors today, claiming it's "likely" that Apple will announce at least one new MacBook model powered by Apple silicon at WWDC.

"In the last 12 months, Apple has introduced not only new Macs (MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 13", and the Mac Mini) with M1, but also a high end 12.9" iPad Pro with the M1 chip," wrote Huberty. "We expect this momentum to continue into WWDC 2021, and based on our checks, we believe it's likely Apple launches a new MacBook featuring in-house designed silicon."

Huberty said there is potential for the new MacBook to feature the so-called "M2" chip, and if so, she assumes that shipments to customers would begin in the second half of 2021. This notebook would very likely be a new high-end MacBook Pro, with Apple rumored to be planning redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, but Huberty did not specify.

MacRumors discovered potential battery listings for the next-generation 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro in a Chinese regulatory database earlier this week.

Huberty's prediction lines up with leaker Jon Prosser, who said a new MacBook Pro is coming at WWDC. However, supply chain reports from outlets like Nikkei Asia and DigiTimes have suggested that mass production of new MacBook Pro models will not begin until the second half of 2021, casting at least some doubt on a WWDC announcement.

One possibility is that the new MacBook Pro models will be announced at WWDC, but not ship until several weeks later. This would be in line with the new iMac, iPad Pro, and Apple TV models, which did not begin arriving to customers until May 21, just over one month after being announced at Apple's Spring Loaded event on April 20.

The new MacBook Pro models are each expected to feature a brighter mini-LED display, an improved iteration of the M1 chip, and a new design with a flatter top and bottom. The notebooks are also expected to regain some ports that Apple removed from the MacBook Pro in 2016, including an HDMI port, SD card slot, and a magnetic charging port. Rumors also suggest the Touch Bar will be retired in favor of physical Fn keys.

No I meant the iMac was a base line product which got M1 and a design refresh at the same time…

However the MacBook Pro which is also a baseline product didn’t get a design refresh but got the M1 which makes me feel as though the 14” and 16” rumoured (primarily from the leaks given by the hacking group) are just a future redesign of the MBP, I would not be surprised if this year they just stick an M1X in a 13” and 16” current design, and wait to refresh the design when miniLED is ready next year.

Nope— anticipation is high for redesigned models now that they’ve released the new iMacs. They’ve set their own expectations by doing so. They will announce the redesigned MBPs next week.

The last iMac design was introduced in 2012 while the current gen MacBook Pro was introduced 2016. I think the iMac deperately needed a refresh more than the MacBook Pro.

Exactly the reason I feel the MBP might not get a design refresh this year and just an M1X chip thrown into it

Analyst expert me here, i say very much likely probably very possible we see a macbook announced at WWDC. But if there's no announcement, I am not wrong.

I think that Apple will not remove the Intel MacBook Pro 16 for at least 18 months. They said they would have all Mac's available with a M processor in two years during the show last year they did not say they were eliminating the Intel from the line. They still have customers because of the work they do require an Intel, like bootcamp or a EGPU box. Along with having processors available from Intel and themselves for a while we go threw a computer processor shortage.

Whatever it is, will be steap expensive for me, so I won't spend that much money when I can live normal live for sometime with those money instead. Choices.

no more teasing just do it already. Been waiting 10 years to replace my 17" MacBook Pro
Mine just gave up already last month. :D

Tim Cook has done well as far as doubling down on leaks. Unfortunately, leaks have been much less than last year
