The activation line said to wait 5 minutes. We waited 6, turned it on, and it (wife's 6) had service.

Waiting for Activation? Just try rebooting

Tried to activate around 1:30 EST. Been waiting and decided to reboot phone. Works fine on startup. AT&T iPhone 6. Still never received confirmation email from at&t that iPhone was activated.

Thanks for the tip. I waited for 1/2 hour and then based on your suggestion, I rebooted the iPhone 6 and it worked. Haven't received any email from AT&T so far.

mine just prompted for my billing zip and last 4 of soc and I was good to go in a minute.

It didn't happen automatically for me like it usually did in the past. I clicked on the activation link on my shipment e-mail, entered the IMEI and the other number and then it activated after about a minute.

I've been waiting about 3hrs now... about 2hrs in I lost service on my old phone so now I don't have a working phone at all...

Thanks for the phone number. That worked for me and in 5 minutes the phone was activated and running. Much better than using the online thing they wanted you to use.

Been waiting over 2 hours on activation, my old phone has been on no service since I started the activation, so I can't even call premiere! Thanks again AT&T

Called 866-895-1099
Entered the phone number, billing zip code, and last four of SSN. They activated it automatically. All I had to do was power off the phone for five minutes.

Its 9pm EST now, any recent success stories ?

I can't make it home for another hour and I was wondering if 10pm activations will work or should I wait till Saturday?

reset worked for me

I waited a couple of hours but no luck, "no service." After about an hour or less, my old phone disconnected and said "no service." An hour or so later, still no luck with the new phone. Saw this thread, reset the new phone and bam! Service.

Still waiting for activation after 45 min..

Still waiting, I turned off my old phone before I began, and it's been off. I've rebooted my new iphone 6 twice....looks like I'll just need to be patient, all that rebooting X [#of users] is probably not helping the system all that much either

4 hours waiting for activation, 1 hour on hold waiting for ATT.
She fixed in in 2 minutes.

Call 1-866-499-8008, use the automated activation. Phone activates immediately.

Thank you! This did the trick for me. Was waiting for over 2 hours and nothing, this fixed it in a couple of minutes.

Thanks for posting this. Waited two hours and still nothing until we called this number. :apple:

I was waiting 45-60 min after doing all the steps, called that number and it was working within 3 minutes!!!

Thanks all!!

You're all welcome :)

It's funny - this number came in an email from AT&T. It looked sort of like a generic "thanks for getting a phone from us" type email. Almost spammy. Except there were activation instructions in it (including a separate process to take if you were upgrading based on someone else's eligibility).

But it seems like a lot of people didn't get the email. My cousins didn't and had the same frustrations.

Didn't work for me. Had to go to my local AT&T store and get a new SIM card. They said my nano sim that was installed at the factory was "damaged". When they opened the SIM card slot you could see a very obvious fingerprint on the gold chip. So basically whoever the "SIM card installer" was that day wasn't wearing gloves. Should I call Apple and demand a leather case for my inconvenience since I wasted 5 hours of my time yesterday on this? (Sort of kidding sort of not here).

Just a heads up

When I got my 6 Plus I moved my sim card from my 5 to it before turning it on, and when it was all set up, and I had no service. Tried restarting, restoring, to no avail. Went to the AT&T store this morning and they told me that when i activated the phone, even though the old sim was in it, the new sim activates and cancelled out the old one. I got back home, popped the new sim into it, and I was ready to go.
