Just putting this out there for those who are curious. Verizon was offering it so I thought I'd check out AT&T's website and seems like they are too.

I'm a well educated person, but I think I'm missing something. I have an iPhone 6 that is paid off and an iPhone 6S that I'm willing to pay off my AT&T Next plan (making two phones paid off). Can I use this to upgrade both to an iPhone 7 with bill credits up to $649 for each if traded in? An iPhone 6 being two years old being traded into the same company that I already have doesn't seem to make much business sense to me...

I'm curious too. I purchased an iPhone 6S at full retail last year. Am I able to trade this in for an iPhone 7 and just pay the tax of the iPhone 7? It seems that's this is the case.
A bit unclear about "not an upgrade offer". This has to be new lines?
it's only for new lines - ie. you can't be on a 2 year contract
Yup. Seems like this has to be new lines (new phone numbers so either add a line for existing accounts or port from another carrier). I tried upgrading an existing line and I'm not receiving the trade-in offer.A bit unclear about "not an upgrade offer". This has to be new lines?
you can be an att customer you just can't be under contract. Are you saying for new lines that you are porting from one carrier to AT&T? (or you have an unused iPhone 6/6S laying around?) I don't see the language that you can't be a current AT&T subscriber (although that makes sense).

im pretty sure you can be an existing customer-- you just can' tbe under any contract.Yup. Seems like this has to be new lines (new phone numbers so either add a line for existing accounts or port from another carrier). I tried upgrading an existing line and I'm not receiving the trade-in offer.
I've got 3 lines in my AT&T account that are all off-contract with paid-off phones. Went through the motions of upgrading the lines with the paid-off 6 and 6+ and it didn't give me any option for trade-in. Might have to do this one in-store to make sure. I was planning on giving my dad my old iPhone 6 but heck, if I can get him the iPhone 7 and pay for essentially just tax, that's even better.im pretty sure you can be an existing customer-- you just can' tbe under any contract.

it's def for existing customers too
I'm on At&t chat right now trying to get those answersSo...How do you select online that you want to / plan to / would like to trade in a phone? How do they know?
ok so i stand corrected according to an article just published- it's new lines ONLY and you can't have ever had a line at AT&T.
http://appleinsider.com/articles/16...e-iphone-7-deals-offering-up-to-650-in-credit
I actaully don't see anything about it being for directtv customers and NEW lines only in their actaul details. so very confusing.
that's different than all the other carriers. i'd call retentions to complain- they'll likely match
Please post anything you find out. I paid my 6s plus on an att next contract off yesterday (intend to sell it) and preordered a 7s plus last night. This sounds almost too good to be true, but I'd cancel that order and go this route if possible.I'm on At&t chat right now trying to get those answers
Yes, there are two offers. One is for customers who sign up for Direct TV, the second is for new Next installment plans trading in an iPhone 6 or above. The AT&T rep told me that once iPhone 7 preorders are scheduled to ship, you will receive the trade in promotion code when it is released from the warehouse for delivery. You can then use that code on the trade in website, or take it to a qualifying store that accept trade ins, and they will process the credit for you. The rep further confirmed that the offer applies to existing AT&T customers, as long as the phones being traded in are not still under an existing Next, or two year agreement plan.I believe that is a different offer.
