Whatever payback there is should apply whether or not you still have the plan.
Unfortunately, many of us abandoned our grandfathered plans due to the throttling practices. I even switched carriers as a result.

Dont think its usually automatic for any provider with promos of this type.Nothing automatic on AT&T - had to do it online.
You realize they have basically done away with that, now. All current standard plans have unlimited talk and text, from all the major carriers. Still costs too much, of course.
I just got a text from Verizon notifying me that I'm on the 4GB data plan, and could reply "yes" to get 8GB for the exact same price with no contract extensions. Checked in my VZW online account and sure enough I'm now on a "MORE EVERY LOYAL TALK TXT 8GB" plan. Pretty awesome.
Your current plan is no longer available. To change to a new plan, please choose options below and click "Continue" or click "Cancel" to return to the home page without changing your plan. Once you change to a new plan you will not be able to go back to your old plan.
Both carriers will still throttle you after so many GBs so big deal. I'll stick with Sprint's unlimited where they only throttle streaming to 1Mbs. Everything else is fast.
Verizon doesn't throttle...
They were going to but relented:

And the FTC is suing AT&T for doing it:

I believe they backed away from doing it for LTE, but they still can for 3G (EVDO).They were going to but relented:

I know.
My iPhone 6 and iPad Air travel for work about 50% of the time and I have never gone above 2GB/month. What are all of these people doing on their devices?
LOL. This is a public forum. No offense, but please don't think as my post as some kind of personalized tidbit, for your eyes only.
I posted those links for the audience of thousands, reading along with us.
25$ for 1GB?
And you people pay these prices instead of hunting the CEOs with torches and pitchforks?
