Crying wolf

I think AT&T has pulled the wool over everybodys eyes. They have been slowly activating mms accounts for a few weeks, and when tommorrow comes it won't be as big a job as everyone suspects.

Rushing? THey had all this time to get this accomplished, they better have MMS support for the iPhones or I'm suing or I guess sit back n b*tch about how corrupt att is an will always be along with every other cell phone companies.

According to AT&T Facebook page.... you have to click on Become A Fan to see this:
"AT&T

MMS Update: We know you’ve been eager for this service so we wanted to offer a quick update on the launch plans for MMS on Friday, Sept. 25. Late morning, Pacific Time, on Friday, the new carrier settings update enabling MMS should be live and ready to download through iTunes. We’ll provide the steps and all of the details you need right here at that time.on Wednesday"

If this is correct, guess what people.... we are NO LONGER waiting on AT&T but are waiting on Apple to make it available through iTunes.........

Then why is it working for some people already(without hacking)? If it's on Apple's end like you suggest.

Mine just started working without itunes or anything... I just sent a few mms out and everyone is getting them. Florida.

How is that even possible? ATT may have made it possible to do on the iPhone network, but your iPhone needs to have it's carrier file updated in order to work (assuming you weren't running a custom IPCC file before, in which case MMS would have already been working).

Mine is working finally. South Bend IN here. It started after 11 am EST. I did not go thru iTunes. But I did have that carrier file downloaded over week ago and installed. But no till now I could send mms. Always got the red mark. I'm just glad waiting is over.

Haha, I wish I knew. I have never gotten a message like that before, it may be a new service (I'll look into it and PM you if I come up with anything). It really surprised me though. I keep driving around looking for it. Hahah

Alright thanks. These messages would be great because I have 1-2 bars upstairs in my house, but if I go downstairs I have No Service. If I got a message like that I'd be so happy!

What's up with all this. I haven't seen any update or anything... I guess it's take long for other users to get it.

The version I have is 3.1
Carrier 5.0

Come on AT&T get your sh*t together already.

I wouldn't worry. Almost all of the people that say they have MMS downloaded the carrier setting and installed it unofficially.. It'll be out today sometime. More likely in the late afternoon or maybe even this evening.

hmm, that brings up an interesting point. People that currently have SMS and didn't do the carrier file hack go to settings > general > about and what does it say for your carrier? If it's "AT&T 5.0" then in theory everyone is ready and some "switch" needs to be turned on for us to see it.

I suggest you read what is quoted below. you are waiting on Apple not AT$T

... That is a poor conclusion.

No where does it say "We have given the files to Apple" or "It's all in Apple's hands"

Maybe AT&T is giving it to Apple later today for them to release it.

Maybe AT&T told them what time they wanted Apple to make it available.

You know nothing more than anyone else and we do not know who's "Fault" it is.

I feel it is still justified to blame AT&T since it's their fault it wasn't here with the release of 3.1 as it was in other countries. Also, the fact that they failed to make their End of Summer deadline.

I still say the 90% of the real blame rest on Apple screwing up back when the first iPhone was release. If apple did not have a stick so far up its ass they would of release the iPhone with MMS on day one.
Instead it took them 2 years to figure out that they screwed up and now are going to give it to everyone.
Sorry but if apple had done it on day one this would not be a mess right now.

Oh yea. I was going to mention that too. I forgot. :p Yea, they should have dealt with it YEARS ago and let AT&T gradually upgrade it's system as more people got iPhones.

Just saw the carrier settings update dialog pop up on clicking "Check for Update" so now I'm testing... yay!

---

Edit: Had to reboot after syncing, then I got the icon. Subsequently sent two MMS's and recieved two... got it out of my system for now :)

Now I can ask my wife, "Is this the scent you wanted?" with pictures while at the supermarket!
