Continuing the carrier war that has seen the major U.S. wireless companies offering various forms of bonus data allotments in recent months, AT&T today announced a new limited-time promotion that bumps the 10 GB data package ($100 per month plus device access charges) to 15 GB.
The promotional 15GB Mobile Share Value plan at the 10GB price is available to new and existing AT&T consumer and business customers and includes domestic unlimited talk and text, and the nation's most reliable 4G LTE network. Customers can easily take advantage of this new offer by visiting att.com and our current AT&T customers can also select the new plan via their myAT&T app.

Additionally, AT&T customers can get unlimited international messaging (text, picture and video) on all Mobile Share Value plans for no additional cost. Unlimited international messaging includes messages sent from the U.S., Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands to more than 190 countries for text messages and 120 countries for picture & video messages.

Monthly smartphone device access charges are $40 for those on two-year contracts or $15 for those on AT&T Next or who purchased their devices at full price. Tablets carry a $10 per month access fee.

AT&T's latest promotion comes as the carrier continues to offer its double data promotion on higher-tier plans. Under that deal, users on base plans ranging from 15 to 50 GB can receive double the amount of data per month. The new promotion for upgrading the 10 GB plan to 15 GB begins tomorrow, while the double data promotion on higher-level plans is ongoing. AT&T advertises both as being "limited time" promotions, but is not currently specifying an end date for either one.

Not an option in the app just yet, although the 10gb is no longer there. Goes from 6gb right to 30gb.

AT&T just keeps yanking me around. I upgraded to the 30GB plan when they announced it, but now I'll be going back to the 10/15GB plan tomorrow to save that extra $30.

Just want to make sure I don't screw myself... so I should theoretically be able to select this plan since I'm already on the 10gb plan and I won't get charged any extra now OR in the future? Will it renew my contract for another 2yrs?

Funny that they're willing to double 15GB to 30GB, but not double 10GB to 20GB.

Still, for those who missed out on the retentions offer, this is a nice little bump. Enjoy the extra data, folks. :)

Same here, and when I first switched to Mobile Share I didn't realize that tethering was included. That allowed me to cancel two iPad plans for another $10 savings each that I put towards the 15/30GB plan, but now I'll go back to 10/15GB.

Yanking you around would be not allowing you to take advantage of this 15 GB deal after locking you in at the 30 GB price. Seems like too much complaining about being able to save some dough.

that is great news for me - with 4 phones on the 10GB plan we get pretty close to 10GB (I had to threaten my daughter so that she stops watching videos while on cellular) ... so the extra 5GB will give some nice buffer.

20 Hours of video?

So if casual user like myself (who is always traveling) watched one hour long episode a day, by months end I would have went over my limit.

Forget bindge watching.

No thanks AT&T. I'll stick with T-Mobile.

I'm not against data caps, just against unreasonable ones. It should be:

25gb for $10
50gb for $20
75gb for $30
100gb for $40

Not

10gb for $10
20gb for $20
30gb for $30
40gb for $40

I'm in a similar boat as you. I'll certainly take and appreciate the extra 5GB. This plan has become the sweet spot for me ever since AT&T tweaked their Mobile Share Value Plan to not be a ripoff. With the 10GB/$100 plan (soon to be 15GB) minus my 23% discount and then $25.00 discount on each no-contract line, I usually brag more than complain about my AT&T service these days. Quite the turnaround I'd say.

I'm almost tempted to get in on the 15GB->30GB plan, but that would be overkill for what we average at this point.

I am guessing based on their research its unlikely that someone will use 30gb every month - but from 10-20 some people might.

TL;DR: Stuff should be cheaper.

Wireless companies all screw you as a consumer. It's just a matter of picking what facet of their service/product you want to be screwed in the least.

My wife and I are on a 2 line mobile share plan with 10GB of data. Although our normal usage hovers somewhere around 9GB per billing cycle, my wife went a bit trigger-happy with Instagram a couple of months ago, resulting in a $15 overage charge. Unfortunately, I missed the retentions promotion. The extra 5GB will most definitely come in handy!

lol lets be frank here. AT&T is just playing price games just to be clear. it cost them almost $0 to offer this to customers so its hardly a reason to celebrate or be sympathetic to a mega-corporation. if they really wanted to be that generous, they would've just doubled it to 20gb. next year you'll see them double the double…

read: based on their competition to Verizon and as a result of losing some customers to said competitor.

Of course there's not an end date to these "promotions" because they will become the standard pricing most likely. That is, until they lower the pricing again within 6 months to a year. Competition in the marketplace is a wonderful thing!

Nice, compartimentalizing my statement in an attempt to set up a straw man, I see.

I guess what you call price games the industry would call competition. It's fierce right now which is a great thing for the consumer. But there will always be those consumers that will find something to complain about.

Oh brother. How exactly is the wireless customer getting screwed? They offer a service and you either do or don't agree to pay for said service. It's like you people think these for profit companies owe you something for free!

Glad someone here gets it.
