Verizon called me up the other day, increased my data plan from 3GB to 6GB for no extra charge, and then the rep saw that my wife's iPhone 5 was no longer on contract so they lowered my bill by $15/mo. I'm really liking this "Carrier War" haha!

I had 5 lines on the 10gb plan with a 21% FAN discount and after switching over; Tmobile's 2.5gb til 2016 deal is still about 40 bucks cheaper per month with technically MORE data since all my usage was from streaming music to begin with. I haven't even cleared 1gb in the last 2 months because of Music Unlimited.

Sorry At&t... Maybe if your prices were lower or my FAN account actually covered the whole plan instead of just the Data.

I guess what you call price games the industry would call competition. It's fierce right now which is a great thing for the consumer. But there will always be those consumers that will find something to complain about.

competition is when a company tries to offer consumers a better service than their fellow rivals in the industry. take car manufacturers as an example strictly of competition.

this here is simply a duopoly. how does today's announcement offer AT&T as a better service than Verizon? what updates did they do to their infrastructure that enabled them to give us a measly 5 GB more for free simply out of the kindness of their heart? it's simply an illusion.

oh we lost a few thousand customers; let's get them back with this string…

PS. yes we have sprint and tmobile but they are simply too small right now. tmobile is becoming a force but they are simply a Tesla if compared to the car analogy.

Not an option in the app just yet, although the 10gb is no longer there. Goes from 6gb right to 30gb.

The app no longer shows you the option of the plan you are currently on.

Funny that they're willing to double 15GB to 30GB, but not double 10GB to 20GB.

Still, for those who missed out on the retentions offer, this is a nice little bump. Enjoy the extra data, folks. :)

The double data offer for the 15GB - 50GB was supposed to end on the 15th of November. At least on my account the double data for the 15GB-50GB is still an option for my account.

that is great news for me - with 4 phones on the 10GB plan we get pretty close to 10GB (I had to threaten my daughter so that she stops watching videos while on cellular) ... so the extra 5GB will give some nice buffer.

don't let your daughter know that you have an extra 5gb...because she WILL use it up also...and you would still have to threaten her to stop using it.

you know the saying. "if you have a lot you will use a lot, If you have little you will use a little" or something like that lol

I wonder if AT&T can limit how much data a phone can use.

For people to have extra 5 GB of data for no extra money, or (at least in case of Verizon) to be able to have the same amount for less money every month, it's sure more than just imaginary since it's something they can actually use and feel the difference in.

You are lucky to have T-Mobile, i have sprint, Verizon, att, uscc, and the various prepaid offerings on those networks. My fan is 28% so they are the cheapest option.

Huh?

20 Hours of video?

So if casual user like myself (who is always traveling) watched one hour long episode a day, by months end I would have went over my limit.

Forget bindge watching.

No thanks AT&T. I'll stick with T-Mobile.

I'm not against data caps, just against unreasonable ones. It should be:

25gb for $10
50gb for $20
75gb for $30
100gb for $40

Not

10gb for $10
20gb for $20
30gb for $30
40gb for $40

A "casual" user would have no need to stream 20 hours of video a month via cellular. Betting they also don't travel without access to WiFi.

You're not a casual user, dude.

Yeah LA's Tmobile signal isn't too shabby. I have places where I have no signal but those places have free WIFI... like Target.

There is no automatic limit - but I constantly monitor how much the kids are using and I can turn data off per phone, never had to use it, but they know that I can do that.

And yes, I won't tell my kids about the extra data .... don't want to spoil them too much :)

Watch your data! Don't leave your pandora on accidentally, or the wrong app open. It could cost you. ( if your on one of 'those' networks )

Happy I ditched AT&T for T-Mobile. While T-Mo isn't the greatest, at least I'm not getting jacked up every month. For $30/month, I can live with a 5GB cap.

What plan are you using? I have 3 lines & an iPad on the 10GB AT&T Mobile Share and only pay $140 (includes tax).

I couldn't find a cheaper T-Mobile plan.

So 3 phones on contract is 100.00 + 40 per line.
Gee wiz for 220.00 what a deal #
/s

I'll keep my unlimited

If with Next, you're looking at 15 per line. 145 isn't good, but also isn't bad (FAN discounts notwithstanding)..

BL.

Not quite $40 per line since a lot of people can get $25 off per line with those accounts, and quite a few can get employer discounts, so for them a plan like this becomes something along the lines of around $125 or so, which is far from a bad deal for 15 GB of data for 3 phones on a nationwide carrier with good penetration and speeds pretty much throughout.

lol lets be frank here. AT&T is just playing price games just to be clear. it cost them almost $0 to offer this to customers so its hardly a reason to celebrate or be sympathetic to a mega-corporation. if they really wanted to be that generous, they would've just doubled it to 20gb. next year you'll see them double the double…

read: based on their competition to Verizon and as a result of losing some customers to said competitor.

You're totally missing the point. They are not trying to be "generous". It is a marketing strategy for business...nothing more, nothing less. Why does everyone hate a business that supplies a product that you decide wethere you want or not?

It will be... as soon as the carriers latch onto the next thing to raise their ARPU's. Now international text messages are free! A few years ago they would snatch your first born to send 100 texts!
