Still in the 10/2-10/13 boat, that hasn't apparently sailed yet.
While I hope the post about the shipping manager has some validity to it, because it would be nice to get a some type of shipping confirmation this night or tomorrow. However, I feel that its highly unlikely because I received an e-mail at 9am this morning from AT&T. The e-mail indicates that they still plan on shipping on the 10/2-10/13 dates. It's probably just a standard e-mail, so they get less calls into their pretty crappy call centers.
Nonetheless, I did visit a local Verizon Store today and discussed my options. I've only really stayed with AT&T because I have been grandfathered into their not so Unlimited Data Plan. But I have several reasons for leaving AT&T
1.) Bad customer service *usually
2.) Very bad LTE Network in my city - Literally get dial up speeds. I'm lucky if I get above a 1mb ever. On my iPad which is with Verizon, I always get speeds above 20mb/s.
3.) Horrible Unlimited Data Plan - or should I call it my Don't go over 5Gb plan or we'll render your plan useless.
4.) Premier star treatment - because we all know how well we get treated for being a Premier member.
At any rate, a Rep at Verizon mentioned a great plan, 60/mo unlimited talk/text and 2gb of data (15+ for more than 1gb).
I'll tell you what, that sounds a heck of a lot better than what I'm getting with AT&T right now INCLUDING my discount. So if I don't hear from ATT by the morning I'll head over to Verizon and see if they have any iPhones left (will try to go early - I don't live in the largest city in America) - if so I'll switch over! Don't have to cancel my ATT line right away.. Just don't need to pre order and sign a new contract with those folks
