AT&T chief John Donovan has confirmed that demand for the iPhone X has been "strong" following the device's "highly-anticipated" launch in the United States and over 50 other countries just four days ago.

"All the signs are that customers love it. It's probably the most highly-anticipated version... and demand has been strong. So we're pleased," Donovan said at the Web Summit conference in Lisbon, Portugal, per CNBC.

Apple no longer provides first weekend sales numbers for iPhone launches, and it doesn't reveal iPhone sales on a model-by-model basis in its quarterly earnings results, but it did say pre-order demand was "off the charts."
We are thrilled to be taking orders for iPhone X, the future of the smartphone. We can see from the initial response, customer demand is off the charts. We're working hard to get this revolutionary new product into the hands of every customer who wants one, as quickly as possible.
Apple's guidance for the current quarter is between $84 billion and $87 billion, which would easily be an all-time record even at the lower end of that range, suggesting that iPhone X sales are and will remain very strong.

Localytics, a mobile engagement platform used by more than 37,000 apps, said iPhone X adoption outpaced iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus adoption over the first three days of availability following each device's respective launches.

iPhone X online orders placed today are estimated to ship in 3-4 weeks around the world. The device is also available to purchase in stores, but inventory is extremely limited right now, especially outside of the United States.

Hmmmm..... I’m probably going to have to rethink my No Touch ID, no buy stand.

My little brother works for Sky and he said that they had to get most of the people off TV/broadband sales for a few days just to man the phones for the iPhone X demand.

And that's just Sky who aren't predominantly associated with phones - I imagine it'll be even more hectic at EE/Vodafone.

"demand has been strong"

Amazing what that can mean to different people. The only thing it does not say is that demand was weak.

Other words, and what do they really mean? Hint: Almost nothing. Just a safe response from a Sr Exec.

Strong
Great
Very strong
Amazing
above expectations
crazy
wonderful
intense

The response is meaningless.

Completely anecdotal, but still: there’s an iPhone X frenzy here in Italy. The high price only seems to add to the excitement, just like Timberland shoes used to do in the 80’s.

I believe the phone will sell very well here.

Except that FaceID is slower than TouchID.

Not my experience. Total time from pulling out my phone to getting to the home screen with my X is on par as with my 7. Tested it several times.

Personally I prefer Face ID because it works better after I wash my hands. I wasn't really looking forward to that "feature" but have been sold after experiencing it last weekend. Now Touch ID is becoming a bit inconvenient on my iPad.

What Face ID really needs though is the option to not have to swipe to open -- just look at the phone and it goes to the home screen.

Blah, blah, blah... This is one of those 'experimental' iPhones that still has bugs that need to be worked out. I may consider the next iteration if my current three year old 6+ lasts that long. If it's still too pricey, I'll get the regular 9+ or whatever comes next...

Shocking...

Is anyone else noticing that all these "demand is high" stories are comparing first days X sales with first days 8 sales?

It's difficult to beat the iPhone 6 launch, even for Apple.

And what do people expect them to say? It's one of those situations where them saying sales are bad is news. Saying sales are strong with no evidence is blowing hot air.

Sounds lukewarm in tone.

Not really. You can swipe up the second the phone lights up and be in. No need to pause.

Yeah, IF it reads your face properly. I am finding it iffy at best. Touch was faster and way more reliable.
Otherwise this is a nice phone.
