Not my experience. Total time from pulling out my phone to getting to the home screen with my X is on par as with my 7. Tested it several times.

Personally I prefer Face ID because it works better after I wash my hands. I wasn't really looking forward to that "feature" but have been sold after experiencing it last weekend. Now Touch ID is becoming a bit inconvenient on my iPad.

What Face ID really needs though is the option to not have to swipe to open -- just look at the phone and it goes to the home screen.
I got an 8Plus and an X. Although the X isn’t slow, it’s not as fast as the 8Plus. I can unlock with TouchID before pulling the phone out of my pocket. You’re right though, swiping up after unlocking with FaceID is an extra step that I hope they change.

My little brother works for Sky and he said that they had to get most of the people off TV/broadband sales for a few days just to man the phones for the iPhone X demand.

And that's just Sky who aren't predominantly associated with phones - I imagine it'll be even more hectic at EE/Vodafone.

Sweet £42 for 30 months..... never knew sky sold phones, good to know

Except its NOT.

for me.

and based on the particular situation you are in

Face ID my phone with 1password as the front most app which THEN faceID unlocks is faster then touchID has ever been for me in that scenario

So please, provide facts or label your comment with a IMO at the end.
Which phone are you comparing it to? Did you do a side by side comparison? I have the 8Plus and my gf has the X. I can tell you that FaceID is not as fast as TouchID on the 8Plus because I’ve been doing side by side comparisons for the past 3 days. Especially when reaching into your pocket, TouchID can be unlocked way before FaceID can be held up to scan your face. So no, this is not my opinion. And btw, not everyone uses 1password. My comparison is straight out of the box.

And I still say I could type much faster with the physical blackberry keyboard than with anything in iOS. How well did that do for BlackBerry?

I bought the 8, but Face ID is the future, slower or not.
Yes, I agree about Face ID being the future. But I don’t agree about spending money on something that is slower. (How does that even make sense?!) I’ll wait until it’s faster.

So what’s your point?

It hasn’t slowed demand of the iPhone X....
Umm, my point is that Face ID is slower than Touch ID. Thats two times you can read it now! Please don’t ask again!
[doublepost=1510071371][/doublepost]
Sounds lukewarm in tone.
[doublepost=1510069504][/doublepost]
Not really. You can swipe up the second the phone lights up and be in. No need to pause.
I am very aware and it’s still a tad bit slower. Especially when pulling both phones out of your pocket, TouchID can be unlocked before FaceID even has a chance to scan.

Except that FaceID is slower than TouchID.

Mine works fine.

There you can read my question twice again. Hopefully you will answer this time.

What does Faceid slower or faster got to do with demand for iPhone X.

Well you may not have to wait long. I feel this can be faster with future updates.

Do you own an iPhone X? FaceID is incredibly fast for me, and works in situations where TouchID didn't.
I have the 8Plus and my gf has the X. FaceID isn’t slow but it’s just not as fast as TouchID. Especially when pulling them out of my pocket. TouchID can be unlocked before FaceID even has a chance.

You used to be able to get a very good handle on how well iPhone was selling based off AT&T sales because they made up such a large percentage of worldwide sales. Now, I'm not sure it means that much. An entire quarter's success can be determined by whether China grows at 12% or decreases by 4%.

Regardless, this is one of many small, yet positive, signs for Apple.

I have to go research when Donovan got promoted. Worked with him briefly when he was in charge of a different division and he is a good guy. I've never fully understand how AT&T has so many great people in top leadership positions yet that doesn't get funnelled down to the front line. I think as a company they have way too much middle management. You see the policy decisions that are made and it doesn't align at all with what you know about the executives themselves. De le vega, Glenn Lurie, etc all AMAZING human beings yet the company as a whole really fails in delivering proper customer service.

A lot of the sales are going to scalpers. For everyone else, it's too soon to tell if they're going to return or keep since they're still in evaluation phase. So far, it seems like after the initial hype and curiosity, people tend return it due to the awkward UI gestures without the familiar home button and missing chunk of top screen that don't justify the sticker shock.

Except that FaceID is slower than TouchID.

I’ve been using Face ID for the past few days and can confirm that Face ID is much faster than Touch ID.

Using Face ID is effortless. I just hold up my phone like I normal would when I would use it unlocks instantly. The slope up can be done while it’s reading your face to speed it up. Or you can just wait if you want to look at your notifications.

When I used Touch ID, I constantly had failed attempts. It was annoying cause I would constantly find myself locked out of my phone sometimes having to use my passcode because it would just stop working on me. It was the same for my sister.

So? TouchID was far slower than TouchID 2. We'll most certainly see the same with future iPhone releases.

Is technology new to you? Do you realize that most tech isn't at it's very best in the first iteration?
That’s my point exactly. I won’t spend money on new technology that’s slower than something that’s already out. Everyone is getting so defensive and triggered here, it’s ridiculous!

Oh, thank God it is selling well!

I was really worried since every 10 minutes the television runs the blue/purple/pink swirly screen apple-ex phone commercial again. First one by T-Mobile, then one by AT&T, then one by apple, then one by Sprint, ...

Except that FaceID is slower than TouchID.
Agreed, it's also basically useless when iPhone is mounted on car dash in holder whilst my 8+ unlocks all day long with my fingers. With the X, forced to punch in passcode or take iPhone out of holder and then shove next to face. Also sunlight interferes with success rate. Of course it's also no good in boardroom meetings as I have to pick up the phone in order to lock it. Unlike others, I don't try to use my iPhone when I'm wet or covered in dirt/mud so touchid can fail lol. I "rented" one from Apple over the weekend just to see what the hubbub was about, but I'm glad that Apple at least released the 8+. The Telephoto camera is much better on the X though. The OIS actually makes it usable.

When did I ever say it had anything to do with demand? You keep asking what’s my point and it’s written right there for you buddy. TWICE!! Figure it out, you got this.

Me and my friends usually get the newest tech gadgets, regardless of price. So far, I've settled on the Note 8. My other friends also went for the Note 8. I don't know anyone who actually wants to get the X.

Seriously, I'm not an Apple or Android fanboy, as I like all tech in general. So far this phone isn't doing it for me. I also don't like the small screen size of it, its not any bigger than my former iphone 7 plus or my Note 8, so I don't care for it. Apple should've came out with 2 sizes of this phone and put a finger print sensor on the back and remove that stupid notch. If they did that I would've had this phone on Day 1.

Also, they need to add multiview or windows on the bigger phones. Like on my Note 8, I was watching Family guy on the top part of the screen and using the browser to surf the net on the bottom. Didn't think I would ever do that on a phone until I tried it out, real cool feature.

Well you may not have to wait long. I feel this can be faster with future updates.
Hopefully next year.

Shocking...

Is anyone else noticing that all these "demand is high" stories are comparing first days X sales with first days 8 sales?
AT&T wasn't comparing them to iPhone 8 sales. MacRumors put a paragraph in the article about Localytics comparing the two. Even if it were the case, what's your point? I can imply negative things about every positive apple article too, it doesn't mean those implications have any substance.
