Sad that so many macrumors members are reading and commenting here with satisfaction over Samsungs issues. Deplorable.
Some of it is "karma" going back to the patent lawsuits. Plus Samsung was rumored to have rushed this phone when it became clear the iPhone would not be getting an updated appearance.

Of course this is bad news for the customers who have been inconvenienced and perhaps endangered not once but twice.

The note 7 was the only phone that interest me this yr. and was really thinking about picking one up and breaking my 9 yr iPhone relationship. this yrs. iPhone 7 feels like and insult, the pixel is lame. I'll wait and see what the galaxy s8 has to offer or just wait till the iPhone 8/x is out. Bummer.

I love how everyone jumps on nothing but rumours at this point, they haven't released any findings on the phone yet. Let the investigation finish first. The guy said it was a replaced phone but who knows for sure??? Just because he said so or the media reported it that way? There were a lot of false reports of the old ones catching fire as well as wrongly identified ones as well. Sensational reporting for click bait and viewership. Considering the first people pushing the story was The Verge (where an employee was working for them as well as Apple). To much of the story doesn't add up. For myself, I will wait for the official report to come out then make my decision. I know people will hate on this but whatever.

Honestly, this makes me a bit ill. I don't love the android platform but competition is a good thing. It's awful to see this kind of disaster for any corporation.

I was on a flight last week and they made the announcement and a guy beside me continued to use his phone. About three people around him started yelling loudly for the flight staff. Meanwhile I was just trying to see it as I've haven't yet seen one in the wild before.

If AT&T does this, it will severely hurt the Note 7...If Verizon follows suit.. mmm hard to recover.

I'm not going to post an insult against Samsung. Plenty of others have already have taken care of this. But in the end game, Samsung needs to cut their losses and move on from this. This will constantly follow them in their footsteps, however consumers have deep pockets and will ultimately continue to purchase their products. It's how Samsung will rebound from this to the best of their ability.

Samsung better enjoy the good quarter while it can, the next one won't be so pretty!
So much hate towards Samsung. I just done a research, iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5s, SE, 6, 6S, and iPhone 7 doesn't work well with Virtual Reality. Tell me..why would I buy an iPhone 7 over a Samsung Galaxy S7? When Apple doesn't even care about their own costumers, if they did..they would've provide better VR experience for iPhone 7 4.7 users, because Apple's partners like Carl Zeisz VR One sucks!
Tim Cook said that VR is a gimmicky product. let's hope Tim doesn't say sex it's bad, because most of you..will stop having sex!

Yeah, it does suck that Apple doesn't have VR yet, but we just have to live with that.

Still, I bet Samsung sure is glad no Note 7's exploded in people's faces while "enjoying" VR ;)

I just feel bad for Samsung at this point.

But at the same time, they deserve it. The CEO or someone directly responsible should resign over this. Worst quality control I've ever seen.

You really think the CEO of Samsung is going to resign from this matter? Absolutely it's unacceptable, which has been stated a thousand times over. But if you think for a minute their will be a resignation, that won't happen. There are to many comparisons where major fails have happened, where CEO's just don't resign. It comes down to the phone manufacturing process and errors made internally. It's a engineer error somewhere in the design flaw of the Note 7. The lead engineer should be terminated at minimum.

Well yeah, it's probably a little extreme to say the CEO should resign. But forget lead engineer, I think the manager that oversees the engineering should be fired.

As I said, the Note 7 is DONE. Give it a month or so, all air carriers are going to ban it from being on their planes.

They already are announcing on planes they must be turned off and kept off during the flight.

I'll be flying across the ocean on a 6 hour flight in two weeks. A fire midflight would mean 3 hours to turn around or continue onward if one of these things blew up. Not a good feeling.

Let's hope for your sake your not flying in a Boeing 787 (Dreamliner) at the same time since that aircraft has been grounded several times by the FAA due to fires with their batteries.

To make you feel a little better, aircraft are seldom more than an hour from land, even when flying across the ocean, e.g Atlantic
