This seems so reactionary. The worst that could happen is a few hundred innocent people get killed. Let people have their Android phones, AT&T! /s

Seriously - why has it taken so long to get these LITERAL bombs off the market? This is enough to prevent me to ever consider another Samsung product in the future. It should have been mass recalled weeks ago -- and never put back on the market.

Well said who needs old fashioned Semtex to carry on an aircraft just have a Note 7 in your pocket, and you are good to go (if you excuse the unintentional pun).

So much hate towards Samsung. I just done a research, iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5s, SE, 6, 6S, and iPhone 7 doesn't work well with Virtual Reality. Tell me..why would I buy an iPhone 7 over a Samsung Galaxy S7? When Apple doesn't even care about their own costumers, if they did..they would've provide better VR experience for iPhone 7 4.7 users, because Apple's partners like Carl Zeisz VR One sucks!
Tim Cook said that VR is a gimmicky product. let's hope Tim doesn't say sex it's bad, because most of you..will stop having sex!
When did Tim say that? He hated Google Glass but never said anything about the VR category in general. There are even patents from Apple showing VR technology.

If they were smart, they'd keep selling the phones, with flame retardant pants available for an extra $100.

No, they would sell the phone for $50 more and include the pants with it.

Apple would remove the pants from deal so they can make the packaging for the phone thinner. Then they would offer the pants as a separate $100 purchase.

Because there's more to a phone than being able to enjoy VR?

If you want a S7 for the VR experience, then by all means go get one. But there are also plenty of reasons for getting an iPhone, and the lack of VR support does not negate any of them.

That's a massive disaster. They should better pull the plug on the Note series now, wait a year or so and relaunch the series under a totally different name. I'd say the "Note" name is beyond repair now, after even the replacements start exploding.

What about snakes on a plane?

That depends. Are the snakes exploding as well? Wouldn't want to have bits of burning snake everywhere.

You would be surprised. I have a couple of friends who refused to send theirs back until the replacements were available. Even though they thought something was wrong due to them getting hot at times. Said they would just be careful and watch them until the replacements became available because THATS the phone they wanted.
I smell a Darwin Award coming up.

True, even if the highest reports of 100 fires over one million phones is correct, that's about 1 in 10,000.
  • That's less than the chance of dying in a car wreck.
  • It's about five times less chance than dying in a car wreck because you were texting.
  • It's 5,000 times less than the chance that you will be diagnosed with cancer.
Everything is relative.

"This phone is less dangerous than cancer! Maybe. :)"

Tim Cook said that VR is a gimmicky produc

"I'm totally not making quotes up!"

This is what it's come to for the Samsung Defence Force

Replacement devices with defects. Not good at all.

This has also damaged Samsung's reputation which could have lasting effects on the minds of current and potential customers.

This story just gets worse unfortunately.

This is the exact PR for Samsung Google wanted as they release their new Pixel phone

The bad thing is that the Note 7 kills the IP7 Plus. I wish I could get that phone.. I'll just stick with IP7 since I have no choice

More like the Note 7 has been literally been killing itself. Have no choice? Sure you have a choice, like you have a choice whether to post such nonsense here. I always get a great laugh from these type of posts.

ALL MANUFACTURERS: ENCASE ALL BATTERY PACKS NOT IN THIN PLASTICS BUT IN A MATERIAL THAT PREVENTS A FAULTY DECOMPOSING BATTERY FROM ESCAPING THE DEVICE AND TURNING INTO A FIRE.

STOP GOING CHEAP AND NASTY. GO THOUGHTFUL DESIGN THAT IS 100% SAFE.

THIS INCLUDES APPLE AS WELL.

You can reduce your font size and turn off caps. Phones from even the cheapest and most generic Chinese manufacturers don't suffer issues on the scale of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

Well I'm considering "halting" my AT&T wireless plan. With my former 2014 contract now up, their new plans, built-in upgrade expenses, and fees are downright exorbitant and criminal. Screw them--I'm buying my next iPhone directly through Apple unlocked. Put my device on T-Mobile's network for all I care.

...or the scale of that font.

Let's reduce the risk of all batteries. Let's encase all batteries in less flimsy materials. All customers and manufacturers will benefit including Apple.

Sure. I don't disagree with the principle but, in the context of the thread it sure seems like you're trying to smear the blame for a single vendor, single model problem around. Especially so when you decide to post in a huge bold font. It sure seems like an attempt at distraction and topic dilution.
