Same here. Copy and paste, but only got text as the output. And only that text was sent to the receiving iPhone. Is that how it's supposed to work or is there another method for adding a picture?

You'll get this - the camera icon lets you either take a picture or video with the camera or use an existing one.

What ever, my visual voicemail hasn't worked since the beginning of the month. Screw AT&T. The Android phones are looking better and better.

so what does the android phone have to do with ATT? you are upset at the company not the IPHONE.. it would have made more sence if you would have said... screw ATT ... verizon is looking better and better...

Oh no doubt.

But I can count on the fingers of my one hand how many times I've received an MMS, wanted to send one, or whether it was ever an issue.

I'm only writing about my own anecdotal observations, however. I may be wrong in the general sense.

MMS does seem to be a growth industry, though:

It's not something I really use - it's more for the younger crowd where it's used because it's so damn simple and so freely available.

This is what it looks like. You use the camera icon to either Take a new picture or video or select a previous one.

Its a combination of software and AT&T. VVM worked fine before I upgraded to 3.01 and then 3.1. And you can't tell me the iPhone software has been perfect either. With every version of the iPhone OS, my 3G gets slower and slower.

I wish I had a dollar for everytime somebody on this forum said that because they don't need a feature, the people who want it are whiners and complainers.

Except that MMS usage isn't very widespread, and seems to be much less of a concern outside of our little corner of the internet.

And you misunderstood. Complainers are just that, people complaining about something, whether rightly or wrongly. My question has to do with their motivations. As in, are those who want MMS so badly and who have been so critical of its absence actually going to use it? Did they actually have a need for it in the first place? How many of them just want to indulge in games of featurism? Which tech-heads on the net are famous (notorious) for doing.

In any case, the entire issue is just for consideration. It would be difficult to quantify these groups.

Is it just me, or does no one really use MMS to begin with?

It's either text messages or email.

All this hoopla over missing MMS is a tempest in a teapot. People seem to want it not because they're actually going to use it, but because they can then claim their device is feature complete, or finally has a feature that other devices have had for years, etc. In other words, the motivations of the complainers seems fishy.

Blah, blah, blah.

If Apple doesn't offer it, then people don't need it.

Is it hard to type with your head up Jobs' a**?

There are some situations where MMS is absolutely better then email. If i need to send a quick work related picture to my boss who is not near his computer, its absolutely better to be able to send direct to his phone. He doesn't have a smart phone with email capabilities in the first place but he can send/receive MMS.

Bottom line is this is a basic function that ALL phones should have.

After waiting over two years... I think I can wait under two weeks more. Especially for something I'll hardly use.
I don't know why people mess with their iPhones...

I made the mistake of activating my MMS. Is there any way to undo this? This article made me change my mind, haha.

I will admit, it's still nice to have! I certainly wouldn't refuse such a feature, especially if it's included in my plan, which it is. And to top it off, it works beautifully on the iPhone.

Personally

I would use this all the time to send pictures to my friends and wife who mostly don't have phones that can receive e-mail. In fact just this past weekend I was wishing I had MMS on my iPhone because I wanted to send an image of a product at the market to make sure I was getting the product my wife wanted... I couldn't. I was pretty bummed, and can't wait until I have finally have the functionality my RAZR had 4 years ago.

I know right? Next thing you know we'll be reading about class action's because some people got it before the 25th and others didn't.

Too late, AT&T and Apple are already being sued because they used misleading advertising concerning MMS capabilities with the new iPhone release.

Now THAT is a good reason for MMS, if there ever was one. ;)

According to the latest lawsuit, first reported by InformationWeek, customers were told that MMS would be enabled on June 17, 2009, when iPhone OS 3.0 was released.

That seems rather strange, considering that Apple and AT&T announced on June 8, during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference keynote that MMS would not be available until later in the summer. AT&T confirmed that time frame to Wired on Friday.

Whether any of the suits have a whole lot of merit remains to be seen, I suppose.

for those who ATT activated it - did you find out because ATT sent you a text to announce it? or did you just get an mms and finally not get the "go to this link" nonsense?

I don't have an MMS option inside of the SMS app, but when I open a photo I get "Send As MMS" as an option. Does this mean that I have MMS?

I had the MMS feature working all of a sudden last saturday. I am not on the 3.1 update and my iphone 3gs is jailbroken. I updated my carrier file to 5.1, but MMS is working via SwirlyMMS2. For some reason I am not seeing the little camera attach icon from within the Message app which come with the iphone software.

Almost thought this was a joke, MMS introduction in 2009? Was introduced in Sweden 2002. Anyway, this has not been a popular service, not used very much.

That 2002 iPhone must be worth quite a bit.

Yep, I got mine to work thanks to AK's blog post. On an iPhone 3GS running 3.1 and I'm in New Jersey. Visual Voicemail works just fine. Now, let's see if I can send something offensive or obscene...
