T-Mobile does it too. Why is it ok for them to do it? But if AT&T does it, it's wrong?
----
For comparison
The "unlimited" T-Mobile plan is $95 now.
AT&T's equivalent now is $100 a month. Why wouldn't you pay the extra $5 for superior coverage and reliability?
So, basically, all that stuff about unlimited being impossible and degrades other people's service and blah blah was all horsesh*t.
The article from the verge states that att says unlimited means 22gb
I'm all over this. Gonna save me 15 bucks a month plus the additional savings from swapping dish to direct. Annndd I can lower my internet speed on xfinity to save more. It's a trifecta. Thanks AT&T
If personal hotspot is not an option, this is something I will not do.

FYI, according to the fine print, mobile hotspot is not allowed on this new unlimited plan.Just did the math, and in my situation, this would save us money AND help us with the overages we always face. I just want to make sure they don't do anything sneaky like disable tethering. I read through the release on at&t's site and it doesn't address it directly.
Maybe we'll wait to see if they do mention it.
Make sure you look past the first 12 months. A 2 year contract with a discount for the first year is something I will never do. They make it kind of tricky to figure out what you'd be paying after that special rate expires. When will these companies stop just taking care of new customers and now providing any love to their loyal customers. I've been with Time Warner Cable for probably 20 years and it fries me that you can only get discounts as a new customer.
You're right. But the point is still made. Pretty much the cheapest a single line phone in 2008 with unlimited data could be was about $75 a month. The 200 text plan was $5, and the 1500 text plan was $15.
I've read, in this thread, that it appears tethering isn't going to be allowed. Is tethering allowed??
Is tethering allowed??
Will they allow tethering?
This is what I want to know, too. I haven't seen anything in the AT&T press release saying that the new unlimited plan does or does not allow personal hotspot to work. If it does, I will definitely consider switching to this new plan. I also wonder if this new unlimited plan will cause the other tiered data plans to drop in price? I guess we'll find out tomorrow.
If personal hotspot is not an option, this is something I will not do.

Yea, that is a good question, not mentioned. 40 per phone - 25 for next/bring your own phone = $15. Probably won't get any of those answer until tomorrow.I wonder if there still will be a discount for people on the next installment plan
