4 lines/$180 no subsidy. Not bad if you are happy with direct tv/uverse.

But under old good days ($30 unlimited X 4 lines) $120 for data. $69.99 family talk X 4 lines (9.99 a line) was about $100

Plus $30 family texting.

So someone in old plan would have paid $100 plus $120 plus $30. So about $250.

But that $250 came with a subsidy worth about $20/month per line. So $250 adjusted for subsidy would have been $250 - ($20 X 4 lines). Equals $170 a month

Bam. The old grandfathered plan WAS STILL CHEAPER and didn't force you to subscribe to direct tv/uverse.

Love how corporations work it.

No since in me trying again then.

Here are the reasons I am not doing this
1. If you have to merge accounts (AT&T w/ DirecTV or UVerse), I am out, not losing my 25% discount, not unless it's worth it.

For what it's worth, I think you can safely combine your DirecTV account and your AT&T wireless account so that both services will show up on one bill if you decide you want to do that. Simply combining the two accounts under your AT&T ID online will not remove the FAN, from my experience. I combined the accounts back in September and my FAN remained intact on the wireless account. When I tried to apply for the AT&T/DirecTV billing combination discount online earlier today via the website, the site wouldn't let me and prompted me to call a phone number to get help with the order.

As an aside, I just checked under my DirecTV account on the AT&T site and I'm now showing a "loyalty credit" of $10 per month for the next 12 months starting today. So, somewhere along the line, one of the five people I spoke with must've added that to my account. No one told me they were doing that nor did I agree to any kind of contract or anything like that in exchange for the credit. I guess it pays to be nice. ;) My FAN is still showing up on the wireless side, as well.

Have any of you found a way to sign up for the new unlimited plan online? I have been unable to find any reference to it on the ATT website other than the press release.

I am also curious about how it will work with existing contracts. I have three lines under contract: 2 lines expire in Sept. 2016, and 1 light in Sept. 2017. I wonder if I can switch all three to this new unlimited plan, or if the fact that I am under contract somehow disqualifies me (just as it disqualifies me from getting the preferred $15/line pricing on mobile share plans). If I can switch all three to the new unlimited plan, it may just make snese to do so given that I know I will not be able to receive $199 pricing when it comes time for new iPhones in September anyway.

I have seen stuff about the idea of "unlimited" to them...22gb divided by 4 is not enough...
Are they dividing the 22gb by four? If so, this significantly less than what I expected. If not, I'd actually come back to ATT. I'd gets twice he data I get from T-Mobile for $60 more per month (and that's without a FAN calculated in)

Edit: the yahoo finance article states per line

I called AT&T. The reps are also in the process of learning about this. From what the person I spoke to can find, he thinks that the FAN discount would only apply to the first line and the $40 fee for each additional line will be considered an access fee so the discount wouldn't apply. He wasn't positive but he thinks it will go that way.

As for a hotspot, no luck on that. So I'd have to keep my iPad on a separate plan of 5GB or higher if I want to be able to set that up.

Uverse is available in my area and would cost what I'm paying now for fios (though I am unsure how any of this compares, I mostly care about fast internet and he tv package is sort of there for the family).

This is looking rather tempting...

Just saw on another forum that teathering will not be allowed on these new unlimited plans.

The forth line is free, so you're really only missing out about $10-15 (most fan) and uverse is given a $10 discount (their pricing seems competitive for other at home tv and Internet bundles without said discount).

All in all seems pretty good tbh. Wife has a 25% fan so, if my math is correct, four lines for $155. That's $35 more than we pay TMO currently for 10gb per line.

Check to see what tiers of U-verse are available in your area. Their lower-end tiers ($15 for "high speed" internet) are totally abysmal. Their fiber service (GigaPower) is fantastic in my experience, if you can get it.

I'm paying $99.00/month plus $7/month for their modem (which you are required to use) and I typically get around 940 Mbps up and down. Not bad especially considering the only other option in my area is Charter cable and their fastest offering is 100 Mbps down/5 Mbps up for $120/month. Talk about a joke.

Make sure you look past the first 12 months. A 2 year contract with a discount for the first year is something I will never do. They make it kind of tricky to figure out what you'd be paying after that special rate expires. When will these companies stop just taking care of new customers and now providing any love to their loyal customers. I've been with Time Warner Cable for probably 20 years and it fries me that you can only get discounts as a new customer.
it's all good, even after the discount period I'm still gonna save 30 bucks a month over my current Dish monthly

Hmmmmm. I think the lawyers have found a way around net neutrality... or at least they are working on it.
[doublepost=1452528219][/doublepost]

I love it when unlimited, as in infinity, an infinite amount, really just means 22 GB. The NEW MATH.
[doublepost=1452528303][/doublepost]

Until they discontinue the plan, and you are grandfathered into your plan AND DirecTV for life...
[doublepost=1452528357][/doublepost]

For personal hotspot, you need to sign up with one of their other subsidiaries.
I wil have to have a phone and TV for life, so even if it happens(which it won't) it's still a good deal for the rest of my days.

When I tried to do this, it prompts me to call them. So I call them and they told me that because of my FAN discount, I can't combine the accounts. I would like to combine bills, but it's a no go right now, even with the rep walking me through the steps.

I have 3 iPhones and a LTE mini. My question is will the mini receive the 4th unlimited device discount and I no longer have to pay the additional 10.00/ month for the mini like I did on the Family data share plan?

We currently have 700mbps for $99 (after taxes including rental, etc.). I haven't had much time to look but they don't seem to have a simple way that shows a TV and internet package. I am seeing around $50 each, so the numbers come out to be about right.

I am guessing not, if only because nobody else has done it this way. I tried to do this with TMO and they wouldn't let me so we ultimately got a spare iPhone for my son to watch movies on in the car.

Has anyone felt with combining your directv and wireless accounts if they are in different names?

Do you still call directv for tv support including billing because their reps are quite good. I hope that part isn't merged yet.

Not sure what the LTE mini is. If this is a hotspot device, you will not be able to add it to the plan.

If both accounts have the same address you should be ok. <--- Not quite what you were asking after I read this again. When you combine, its just billing. Support is still two different groups.

The old $30 plan was ONLY the data. Text and talk was extra on top of that.

This encompasses all of that.

Maybe, but at $100/mo it's still $15 more than I'm paying for my $30 unlimited data + $40 450 min (with roll over and free mobile to mobile and nights and weekends) + $5 texting + taxes.

Now IF this version of unlimited allowed tethering then it might be a deal. However I'm assuming it's just like the grandfathered unlimited data plan which doesn't allow it.

UPDATE: indeed tethering is not allowed. No sale for me. I'm out of ATT once the iPhone 7 drops.

Duh..ha. LTE mini sounds clear to me now. In the announcement it says smartphone free on the fourth line. It also says tablets are $40. I would have to punt here. My guess is the discount is meant for a phone but maybe they will cut you a break. Guessing.

I was thinking the same.

Hopefully TetherMe works on their network. It's been flawless on T-Mobile.

I would like to switch but at the same time, I would hate to lose my 2 lines unlimited everything for $100 promo from T-Mo.

not sure if this question was answered already or not if it was sorry

but with this new plan will the FAN discount still apply?

I signed up for combined billing with ATT when they first offered it so I could get a $10 credit being a customer of both companies. Since i have done that i have had nothing but problems with customer service. I had $500 worth of credits coming to me and it took ATT customer service 6 HOURS to figure out where to find the proper documentation. I am writing this to must beware of combining billing with both companies. It is a nightmare and they are clueless!

In your opinion, is the issue BECAUSE of this billing method? I'm just curious, because I've had my dishwater meets with att but billing always was worked out quick. I can't say that about TMO, who I'm with currently.

I have the same question.

I am not sure, and this is my guess, but they way I see it, is the fan discount will only apply to $60 of the $100 plan. The first $40 is for the phone, which I believe the fan discount will not cover. So, what ever your percentage is on $60 is what you will get as a discount. I see what AT&T is doing here. They are trying to find every way to get away from the FAN Discounts. It use to be that anything over $30 would get the FAN discount. Then that changed to only the PLAN, now that the plan has a $40 for the first phone, its even less what the FAN discount covers. It's sneaky what they are doing, but I see it and it's kind of deceptive. IMO, if we get a FAN discount, then it should be on EVERYTHING, but what ever.

I just called ATT to see if it made sense for my family. We have a 15GB plan for three phones (my office pays for mine....score), and we use 10GB or less. It would be $23/month more, so for us, it doesn't make sense. The customer service rep did say that it's unlimited (that is, you pay one fee for all the data you can consume), but you are throttled (my word, not hers) after 22GB.
