If I am coming from Verizon and switch to AT&T, and I have my own iPhones, would I have to purchase new phones from AT&T? Is there any benefit from BYOD?
Ya you should be able too.I have 4 lines on 2 accounts in AT&T and 6 line on T-Mobile. I want to switch the 4 AT&T lines over to the new plan. Would I be able to switch the 6 T-Mobile lines over to the unlimited data plans down the line after the unlimited data offer expires?
I know many people who work for AT&T, both on the corporate, as well as the retail side. Everything that AT&T comes out with includes a big disclaimer.
1) Fan Discount - it will only apply to the $60 dollar plan. (disappointing) Because right now I pay $97.50 monthly for 30GB of data on a MSV.
2) Combined Billing - You do NOT need to combine your DTV/Uverse TV bill with your wireless to be eligible.
In fact, don't combine your bills at all because the $120 of savings you'll receive after a year isn't worth the time or headache you're about to endure in trying to have anything serviced on your account. Just don't do it. BTW, to officially do this, you must call in. The account holder name on each account must be the same to be combined or get this unlimited data plan.
3) No tethering/hotspot functionality with unlimited plan. Period.
4) The fourth line becomes ''free'' after two months of paying for it. The eighth line will not free as well- only the fourth.
(I think that's crap, btw- oh and it'd be better if they just made the fourth line free from the beginning)
That means it's $220 per month for four lines unlimited everything. BEFORE Taxes, BEFORE insurance, BEFORE NEXT Installments (No NEXT savings on service costs with this plan. Assuming you're financing a $650+ Apple device on a NEXT plan, It's as if your paying for a 2-year contact AND a next plan at the same time).
5) Fu** DirectTV. Can anyone guess why AT&T spent so much money acquiring a dead TV service that doesn't work well in bad weather when they already had a ''fiber-optic'' service in which BOTH TV and internet service runs through?
6) The iPad Air 2 for $99 is a good deal, but understand that you must order DTV with it. Also, it's a two-year commitment of having it as a connected LTE tablet. That incurs a nonnegotiable $45 one-time activation fee on your next bill, as well as $10 a month for two years. So essentially, you're paying $99 and tax up front + $45 + $240. It's still decent deal considering it's the cellular enabled iPad that WILL have access to data for two years, but you'll end up paying within $200 of that actual MSRP.
Despite everything I just said, I'm unbelievably happy with my wireless service (the only service AT&T should offer imo) from AT&T. If you have a sick deal on a MSV plan with over four devices like myself, AT&T is actually the bang-for-your-buck carrier. Oh and the carrier-locked version of the iPhone 6s that AT&T offers is the same model number of the ''factory unlocked'' version that Apple sells. So assuming you unlock your interest-free-finacned AT&T iPhone 6s when you're eligible (easy to do actually), then expect to be able to use it with near full support on many other carriers here.
If you haven't turned your phone off and back on again since your plan swap, hotspot will work. Once you do that it will go awayI have a few things to say about DirecTV, their not a dead TV provider, or dying, and 2. they don't go out every time it rains or snows, I live in the upstate NY area where we get massive storms, and I have DirecTV, and guess what, I hardly lose it, I was at my dad's this past sunday, which he has Time Warner, and it stormed bad, and guess what? the cable completely went out, while my Satellite didn't. So whoever likes to spew that crap about Satellite going out, is dead wrong. I've been with DirecTV since 2006, and I lose it maybe 3-5 times a year at most, when I had TWC I lost it more, and I currently have TWC for internet since there is no other option in my area, and guess what it sucks, and I have the highest internet plan in my area, and it goes out every night, and every day it's slow as hell.
Also I tried to use a hotspot off my iPhone and it worked on my Mac, not sure if it will continue(Yes I upgraded to the unlimited plan too).

One last thing, if any thing is dying it's cable, they have outdated technology, and oh guess what, they get their channels from a satellite dish as well, only you don't need a dish like Satellite customers do. Not trying to be a jerk, just sick of people saying crap that isn't true.

I would say yes..i have a grandfathered family talk nation plan and iasked retentions and they said i cud add a third line anytime i want...just not an unlimited data line...only thing i would be careful about here with this new unlimited plan is that if u only add 2 lines now. And later on down the road u wanna add 2 or more lines...then u may not get that 4th line free anymore...i have a feeling that option isnt gonna be around for that long....theyre matching tmobile deal and tmobile even states on their site that the free 4th line is for a limited time only...so the smart thing to do is add 4 lines right off the batI have 4 lines on 2 accounts in AT&T and 6 line on T-Mobile. I just signed up for this plan. It will barely save me any money versus the plan I was on (grandfathered UDP, Nationwide 900 and Unlimited Texts), but it's still a no-brainer since it gives me unlimited minutes instead of just 900. Plus throttling starts at 22GB rather than at 15GB like the grandfathered UDP.
My FAN discount only applies to $60 of the new plan vs. $89.99 on the old one ($30 for the UDP and $59.99 for the Nationwide 900), so the new plan is $83.20 before taxes vs. $84.79 for my old plan. Like I said, doesn't save me much but still made sense to make the switch.
Not disputing what you're saying. I'm curious as to why? I also have unlimited data plan and wondering about switching as well.
What specifically do you want to know?
If the price is the same and the unlimited data is the same. Usually with rollover, unlimited minutes don't don't mean much anymore.
[doublepost=1452733351][/doublepost]I switched to this plan today- it's $60 dollars for the plan, plus 40 ea for two iPhones, $10 ea for two iPads, plus my FAN discount. It's actually three dollars more than the plan I'm replacing.I have 4 lines on 2 accounts in AT&T and 6 line on T-Mobile. I want to switch the 4 AT&T lines over to the new plan. Would I be able to switch the 6 T-Mobile lines over to the unlimited data plans down the line after the unlimited data offer expires?
They just recently (maybe just a month ago) increased my double-your-data from 60GB pay for 30 to 80GB and pay for 40.This is because they want people to get off of the double-your-data promo where some people have 30-60GB of data and paying for half of that. The unlimited is just trickery to cap you at a lower limit than the lowest double your data plan.
CAREFUL people! This is a bait & switch tactic. Already spoke to a regional rep from AT&T on this.
So the iPad was a no go?I made the switch today. My phone bill increased around 15/ month. Since it was free, I went ahead and added a 4th line for a near future preteen birthday present. After my 12 month discount expires on the new directtv, I'll save 15/month compared to my current dish network. All in all even trade and I got a free unlimited phone line. I'm happy.
No go on the iPad. Had to do the 10.00/1gb. I ask about using the new phone line SIM card and they said it would know the difference between a phone and a tablet. It would then charge me a 40 / month iPad plan automatically. So the iPad was a no go?
I think it's a great deal. I may try to see if I can add you as a referral. I signed up for Direct yesterday. I'm gonna call my rep tomorrow. I have been pushing the deal on everyone at work lol. The referral is up to 10 sign ups which would knock 100 /month off your DirectTV Bill. Not to shabbySo what are the drawbacks to this? It seems like a decent deal if you have DTV or U-Verse. Only thing that I see is the lack of tethering. I'd get more use out of the unlimited iPad data.
btw- if anyone is planning to sign up for DTV, you can use my account number as a referral (45067491). We'll each save $10.00 per month for 10 months. This is on top of any other discounts that they provide.

An att uverse retentions told me today that if u drop directtv then the system will recognize it and automatically change yor unlimited plan to a 10 gig mobile share plan...it is a great deal tho...207 ish with a fan discount. For 4 unlimited lines. ...including fees On the att network.....dont wait too long cuz that 4th free line is a limited time promo so that cud get pulled at any time.I wondered what would happen if you didn't want or couldn't get DTV anymore. Plus they would know that you probably wouldn't leave if your DTV gets to high. No more telling them that you'll cancel the service.
I've had them for many years and have been very happy. I usually have some sort of discount on my account. Actually, multiple discounts. I'm going to keep them separate.
One big drawback is that you will always have to pay for dtv or att uverse tv to keep this unlimited deal....so no hoppin back and forth to xfinity or whatever...if in a few years you move somewhere where you arendt Allowed to have a dish on the building.....or if u have no line of sight to the satellite....or if uverse isnt offered there...then they willchange yor plan to a 10 gig mobil share acct....i guess you cud call retentions and maybe they will let you still keep the unlimited plan but who knows how that will go...if u got in on a 30 or 40 gig double data from last year then u may be better off keeping that instead of this new unlimited plan.....cuz its not tied to dtv so they can never take it away from you.....and u cud add more lines for 15 bucks instead of 40....one tip to u guys that getthis deal..dont merge your new wireless plan and your direct tv acct...cuz u will lose yorfan discount for one...plus att retentions told me they wont be able to issue u credits...just take the hit on the extra 10 bucks bundle discount....another benefit of not merging is direct tv retentions told me if accts are merged they will be know cuz it sez linked acct on top of your page....which may hurt you when u call in trying to get yor bill lowered...which i do every 6 months or so..if you dont merge the accounts then dtv wont know u have the unlimited plan deal and u will have more negotiating power...
