It would be silly to charge for sim cards since most people use the same one from phone to phone.

I am from Canada and I was reading the posts and I had to ask this question...When you are upgrading your phone to renew your contract with ATT, can you not talk to customer loyalty department and ask them to waive the fee as part of the contract negotiations?

I know we kind of get flocked for the highest cell bills in the world but there is some wiggle room if a person calls the customer loyalty department. The yo-hans who work behind the desks and set up your new phone have no authority to negotiate any perks so it is pointless to ask them.

Generally, if you're kind and polite, but firm, they be happy to give discounts, drop charges, or, at the very least, forward you to someone who can.

The only exception is if it's something they have zero control over (like the throttling issue - they can't remove it).
