Not much incentive yet to get people off unlimited plans. For $10 more I'm still getting virtually unlimited phone and 5GB LTE data plus unlimited 3G data if I ever use more than 5GB/mo (but I never do).

So, if I'm reading AT&T's website correctly, for someone who is mid-contract, switching to the new 2GB plan would be:
$40 for the plan (unlimited talk, text, 2GB data)
+ $40 for being under contract
_____
$80 per month (plus taxes/fees)
And this includes unlimited international texting and tethering.
If this is all correct, I'll be switching to this tomorrow.
Also, does anyone know if there's a fee to change plans? I'm on the 10GB plan now, and seeing how much I'll save on light usage months, I'm tempted to switch to 2GB and just pay overages on the really busy months.
Still a ****** overpriced plan, but they would have never lowered it had they merged with T-Mobile - in fact they would have raised the price with less competition. A little too little too late ATT suckheads. Happy with my much faster - much cheaper - no contract plan on T-Mobile. Never, ever going back to ATT.
Wow, that's surprising. I'm still under contract for my line, I think it ends in summer, so does this mean that the savings get passed onto me automatically with AT&T? Or do I have to call for the discounted rate? 1 line, unlimited texts, 2GB data. Thanks
This is for no contract only. AKA AT&T next or paying full price. Therefore it's $65 plus the monthly phone cost. Which brings it to about $90/month.
Still a rip off. Nice try. Stop tricking people with this AT&T Next ********.
Yeah, just the 37th best health care system in the world! 'Merica!

in case this hasn't already been answered, if you are currently on a 2-year plan, 2 GB or greater, then they will honor the $25 device fee (instead of the $40 fee) if you switch now.
Mobile Share includes free mobile hotspot (tethering)!
So, I had the Nation 450 plan ($39.99/mo for 450 minutes), plus I was paying $10/mo extra for 1000 text messages, plus $25/mo for the 2 GB plan.
I just swapped to Mobile Share for $40/mo data, $25/mo device, and now get unlimited texting and mobile hotspot free? No brainer!

Cable, internet, and phone are awful in the United States but at least we have..... uh..... you know I am not quite sure these days. Public transportation is awful, taxes are high, education and health are bottoming out.
OK, so they lowered the price to $65 off contract. Big deal. Straight talk is $45/month off contract.
If you're going to go off contract, $65/month is not a good deal.
The whole point of the major carriers has been getting new phones under 2 year contracts. If you're not going to get the 2 year contract, there are way better options for you at a fraction of the cost. You don't need to fall for the Next, Edge, and Jump BS. It's not saving you any money.
Get a 2 year contract or buy outright and go with straight talk or another $45/month plan. Getting next, edge, or jump is throwing your money out the window.
A lot doesn't work with with the iphone on strait talk. Such as no LTE, no visual voicemail, and terrible customer support. You get what you pay for.
I wrote International next to texting....

Yeah this is great for people with FAN discounts.
I am in the same boat as you (I have 450 plan + 2GB Data + 200 messages).
Just make sure you're not planning to get a new iPhone 6 this fall and buy them for $199 subsidized price because if you do that, the +25/mo device fee is going to increase to $40.
Unless you're planning to buy the phone unlocked from Apple or do the AT&T Next program and basically paid installment for 20 months amounted to full price of the phone to keep the device fee at $25

Remember the FAN discount usually only eligible for the plan fee and not the device fee.
As tempting as it is to want to switch back to ATT from Tmo, there's two things, one of them major. I can't go without HD calls now. It's absolutely amazing how it sounds, so until att finally gets around to it (been "working on it" for the last year and half) it's a no go.
Most important though, I don't want a company that only reacts. I think I'll stick with TMo because they're the ones that are actually initiating it. As far as those on verizon, I feel sorry for you. I really don't know why you'd choose that over Tmobile, unless you got bad coverage at least ATT. It just seems like verizon customers just keep taking all the crap verizon keeps pushing out. Nothing will change with them unless people start voting with their wallet.
