My wife just used her full upgrade to get an iphone 3GS a couple months ago. The thing about wives is that they always want something else though. She now wants a white iphone 4 when it comes out. When I go to our account and look at upgrading it only gives me the full price option. Based on at&ts site it sound like she should be eligible for an "early upgrade" price of $450. Do I have to call to get this price?

She might not be eligible for the early upgrade yet.
I'd call up AT&T to get more info.

Why on earth would you upgrade to a 3 gs 8 months after the iPhone 4 comes out? Of course you're not eligible for an early upgrade.

Generally you become eligible for an early upgrade after 10-14 months, depending on your monthly spend and whether it is the primary line or a $9.99 add-a-line. Your wife won't be eligible for one even when the iPhone 5 comes out.

Time to tell the wife that her poor decision-making skills have resulted in the choice of either living with a 2-year-old phone until it's 3 or 4 years old, or ponying up the $650 for a new one. Or you could not do that and remain married to her. 😛

i also have a similar question. I have a iphone 3g, I have waited and thought I will upgrade to iphone 5 in june /july, but now with the news of it being released in sept or early Q12. I feel like upgrading to iphone 4, but if the iphone 5 does come out in sept will i be able to upgrade to iphone5. Will it cost me the same $200 or $499

i'm 11 months into my 3gs contract and it's still gonna cost me $549 to upgrade (32gig). ouch.

white or black it would be crazy to upgrade with those kinds of prices.

Don't do it. You've waited this long, don't buy the 4. Wait for the 5.
