Yeah well I had my order done at 2:10 AM central (12:10 Pacific) on AT&T. Got a confirmation page and number but did not get email til 9 AM today. and confirmation of ship time a hour later of Oct 31 to November 11, so for some reason I am even further out by 1 to two weeks and I had order in that early. Not sure why I was one of those who got confirmation much later I wonder if it was the $1 charge to my checking account that i used my Visa debit card for order and when the bank would respond? Oh well... the tax and the $1 are now charged to my debit/checking account sucessfully (never got an error though)

I started the ordering process at 12:01am pst via AT&T Premier website, but had all sorts of problems. I ended up calling to get the order placed. All in all it took about 3 1/2 hours so my order was probably placed after yours.

I immediately got an email for the iPhone 6 Plus with the est ship date of 10/13-10/22, but still have not received an email for the iPhone 6. I verified the iPhone 6 ship date through AT&T online order status.

Please Advise

I ordered my wife a 128GB Gold 6 Plus circa 0315 through ATT website. Got the nefarious ship time of 10/31-11/11.

I want to cancel the preorder and order through apple who quotes 3-4wks.

Anyone else done this successfully? Should I?

I got my order to go through just fine around 2:55am on ATT premier site, got an email at 4am saying my order number, and it said on the website 14-21 days. when I checked online order status, I've got Oct 13-22....I ordered within 5 minutes of the sale?????

Amazon's AWS IaaS cloud service was purpose built for just such an occasion. Six hours, load balanced over several regions, scaled up as large as needed, is exactly what that was designed to do.

And with Azure, you can run the IaaS model with various flavors of Linux or Windows, or you can run their PaaS model with the Azure database. They would be more than happy to scale up and out for a big six-hour roll out. Billed by processing power, network utilization, and storage utilization (in order of cost).

I'm guessing that, for all of Apple's capacity in NC and OR, they weren't built to deploy this on a grand scale or the 3 AM EST experience wouldn't have been such a cluster**** for so many people.

Don't get me wrong, I love Apple, but they could really use some outside help on projects like this (or possibly better outside help than they had).

And don't get me started about the live stream... SMH

Source?

Stream, definitely a mistake. As for today's order problems, well, maybe you are right that Apple isn't that good at this stuff. However I think it would have been hard to offload this process to Amazon just for the crucial six hours while Apple can't handle the load. It isn't like Apple is going to miss out on sales from the folks who were getting up at 3 a.m. Those folks are buying eventually. So why spend millions to Amazon just to make this moment smoother? I guess you could argue you do this as a gift to your most loyal customers. But that is what it would be, a gift.

As for for a source. I don't have one and I'm wrong anyway. I gave it some thought and came up with a few things that have sold in far greater numbers on their release day, than Apple will get pre-orders. 8.3 million Harry Potter books were sold in the first 24 hours of release of Deathly Hallows. And that was just in the US. No way Apple is going to hit that number. And blockbuster video games now sell over 10 million copies on their first day. It should be noted that the servers for those games almost always struggle on day one as well.

So Apple is doing something impressive. But other mass market items have sold more and sold it faster.

Canceling att orders

I ordered 6 iPhone 6's both sizes and 1 of each color in 128gb. The only one that says it will be here 9/19 is the last one I ordered which was the black 6 128. The other non plus's say October. All the plus's say November.

The catch is Apple is quoting at least 2wks faster delivery than the carriers right now for the 6 Plus. That's why I'm considering canceling my preorder with ATT and placing a preorder with Apple.

Has anyone successfully done this?

I attempted. I canceled via the att premier site, but It wouldn't cancel. Tried call att premier they aren't taking calls it seems, and tried calling regular support , was put on hold for 30, then it hung up.

AT&T site went live at about 1:54am CT last night... I had my 6 Plus ordered and got confirmation email at 1:55am CT... they are telling me the estimated ship date is 10/2-10/13.

Either the date is just made up, or they basically have little to no stock of the Plus.

This is unbelievable man I was up till 3:30am and I manage to get a pre-order from :apple: 3-4 weeks shipping  !!

Thumbs up for ATT

Yeah AT&T sucks. I had my pre-order done before 12 and the only thing I had to wait for was the countdown to get to 0 then it refreshed and said "thank you for your order". Just checked the expected delivery date right now and its not until somewhere between Halloween and veterans day

I'm assuming they never had an inventory for the 6 plus

Yes. EXACT same problem. Really pissed.

Went to ATT store and they verified that it was changed to 10/31–11/11. Complete BS. I told them to cancel and verify that I'm out of contract. So, at this point, I had no phone ordered. I just stopped at Target and they had ZERO pre-orders for the 6+ 64GB, so I plunked down for the $25 gift card pre-order fee and I'll wait to see if they get it next Friday. If they don't have it in next Friday I can go elsewhere and just use my $25 gift card later, or wait for it to come in. No penalty other than buying yourself a $25 gift card, but also no guarantee that it will be in next Friday. If a 6+ 64GB in space grey gets delivered next Friday it's mine.

PROtip: If you have a Target nearby, go put a pre-order in. It will cost you $25 (in a gift card) and you can still order the phone elsewhere and if you get it before it comes into Target you don't even have to commit to Target—though it would be courteous to let them know you found an alternative source. :)

I will update next week as things proceed. Have a good weekend, all.

another side of me wants to stay optimistic and believe they are just trying to be generous with expected delivery dates to avoid headaches and complaints. I could have sworn I saw someone say they did this for the iPhone 5 but it actually arrived on launch day.

I order from the ATT site at 2:05am CST. 64GB Silver iPhone 6 - eligible for an upgrade. I didn't get my order confirmation email until 5:30am and the order status now says Expected Ship Date: 09/23/2014 To 10/02/2014. ******** - I can order from Apple.com right now and still pick it up or have it shipped ON THE RELEASE DATE! I tried to cancel my order via ATT's site and it does not work. I called them and they could not do it either. My upgrade status will be ****ed up now for up to 24 hours if I was able to cancel it.

Ugh. Thanks AT&T.
Similar situation. I went to my local ATT FU•K FACTORY and they were able to cancel my pre-order. They also verified I'm out of contract.

kinda bummed that I preordered the 6 plus and in checkout it told me around 7-10 days to ship, but once I got my confirmation it was 4 weeks. Thats kind of false advertising.

I then decided to just cancel the order and go with the regular iPhone 6 which will be at my house by friday.

I'm just happy to finally have a 128gb phone.

6 Plus 64GB

Is anyone who has pre-ordered expecting delivery of the 6+ 64GB by next Friday or have we confirmed that there are not enough in the pipeline?

I think it is wishful thinking, but I know where you are coming from.

I read this entire thread and i think i saw 1-2 who got a confirmation for the release date. But that is not exactly the confirmation you are looking for.

I got a 64GB iPhone 6+ through Verizon in the first 5 mins of pre orders and my confirmation says deliver by 9/19/14. Glad I gad both the Apple Store app and VZW.com pulled up at the same time.

AT&T = No wifi calling
T-Mobile = Wifi calling

Who's doing better?

To be fair, they both need it. The whole purpose of WiFi Calling is to make up for dreadful cellular voice coverage. This gives them a "get out of jail free" card so they don't have to actually build out additional cell towers, which is what they both need to be doing instead.

seems about right. Mine went through at 3:10am and I too have 10/31-11/11 - it seems anyone that went for the plus has this 10/31-11/11 - or at least those with 128gb 6+'s

So angry as to wtf "pre-order" means to ATT. I understood it to mean I was at the front of the line (with everyone else who pre-ordered) -meaning that on launch day, which according to apple is 9/19- we'd be among the first to receive ours... apparently pre-order from ATT means first to receive among whatever apparently few Apple decides to give them.

I would have done the apple website, but even up till 6am they were still 'down' for me.

Not only that, but, when I attempted to pre-order, I had to wait for my slot to open—thinking that I was getting in early and receiving a unit early. After three different delivery dates and numerous attempts at canceling my order—ATT would not allow me to do it online—I had to go to their brick and mortar. BTW, it took them nearly 30 minutes to determine that my final delivery date was 10/31–11/11.

Anyone has experience with ordering iphone thru att? How accurate are the estimated expected ship date? My order was placed 12:10am and still got a expected date of end of October-beginning November. Thinking of canceling since the apple site estimate dates are much less.
