Does this mean Fido will support Apple Watch too? I switched to their parent company, Rogers, two weeks ago and they still haven't figured out how to activate my watch. Had 10+ calls already and now I'm wishing I just held on to fido a bit longer.

chatted with ATT support and they said you have to go into the store so they can scan the QR code for the esim.

Also chattted with AT&T support. They told me that Apple stores could now assist with converting Sim service to eSim. Plan on calling my local Apple store tomorrow to see what they say.

I have two phones today - one from my employer (which they own and pay for), and my own. Any word whether this dual SIM support will work with two different payers? Same carrier (Verizon). It would seem like any issue would be a biller / provisioning issue rather than a problem on the device itself.

Thoughts?

Will work. The two accounts are totally separate, and with them coming from the same carrier it should be totally seamless. I'm in the same boat, same carrier (AT&T).

UPDATE: Will NOT yet, specific CDMA problem (Verizon and T-Mo). You may need to mix carriers :(

Won't work with CDMA carriers.
You can only have one CDMA carrier and one GSM, or two GSM carriers.

According to the Apple support document, it won't work, unless I am interpreting the information incorrectly.

"To use two different carriers, your iPhone must be unlocked. Otherwise, both plans must be from the same carrier. If a CDMA carrier provides your first SIM, your second SIM won't support CDMA. Contact your carrier for more information.

If you have an enterprise or corporate cellular service plan, check with your company administrator to see if they support this feature."

Depending on what rep you talk to at Verizon they will send you a QR code...but I guess the server won’t work until Friday .

Just got off the phone with AT&T tech support. The person I talked to claims that whatever they did in 12.1.1 didn't fix their issue and eSim won't be enabled until the next update. I made the guy check twice that is was in fact 12.1.1 that did not work. The link on this story to the AT&T site - "AT&T's website confirms that it supports eSIM on the latest iPhones as of iOS 12.1.1" now directs you to a page that doesn't exist. I guess someone at AT&T didn't do their job correctly. Let me know if someone else gets a different result talking to AT&T.

I got basically the same response from two people at AT&T today. While both Apple and AT&T's site infer they're ready to go, tech support says they are still waiting on Apple for an update.

I would bet solid money they are using whatever training response they were given at the call bank for the past many weeks since iOS 12.1 because they weren't prepared for a mid-to-late-day US release of this update to AT&T's page.

How do you get an AT&T QR Code ? I want to move ATT to eSIM so I can use Google FI in the physical slot (until they also get supported as esim)

I walked into the Ithaca NY AT&T store today, bought a eSIM QR card ($5), and got everything working by talking to the 800-number technical support line. (The store did not know how to activate the eSIM.) Not a problem.

The steps are:
While in range of wifi:
– remove existing SIM card
– go to settings -> cellular. Tap “Add Cellular Plan” and scan the QR code.
At this point, the phone would not connect to AT&T
– call AT&T support. Give them a few numbers (IMEI, etc.)
– AT&T e-mails a verification number to you (since your texts are likely dead at this point)
– shut down iPhone while AT&T updates servers (~few min)
– reboot

I got the impression that this is the same procedure as adding a new physical SIM, and AT&T support was completely unfazed by it being an eSIM.

Pics of the card???

We gotta pay an extra $37.45 to upgrade to eSIM in Singapore on m1. I'm gonna sit out, I don't need it. How much is it in your country?

Clearly, you did NOT read any of the last 200 articles from the past 2 months.
And this post helps me how. It's almost end of year. Just hope TMobile acknowledges it soon.

Also I'm not sure what the concensus is on how to add the e sim. Link or have to go in store

I spoke with AT&T chat and they walked me through signing up with my imei number. I entered the eSim card and she said they would mail me a SIM card. I guess they are talking about a qr code card. I didn’t have to pay anything for it. I kept asking her why they had to send me a new SIM card for a esim. She told me not to worry. I don’t know, guess we will see lol

People always give ATT crap for their service and other issues, but they're always one of the first carriers to support iphone changes and new technologies.
Because they want to charge outrageous prices for just about any thing!
They tried to gouge me to pay an "upgrade fee" when I simply bought a phone from Apple, swap the SIM and be on my merry way! Had I not look at the bill and screamed at the phone with the customer service rep, they would get away with that crap!
