AT&T is marking up some phones by $30, which Apple is discounting back to their retail price. It is not the $35 upgrade fee. Apple calls it a connectivity fee. It’s a shell game.I have an iPhone 12 Pro, looking to upgrade to an iPhone 15 Pro 128 GB.
I have always bought my phones outright, but Apple is only offering me $360 trade-in credit. AT&T is offering $830 on their website in credit, if I do installments with the typical 36 months @ 0% APR. The extra $470 in credit from AT&T is very tempting here.
However, on the Apple website, it only shows $800 in AT&T credits. The net result is Apple shows $5.53 per month, while AT&T shows $4.73 per month. Where is the $800 vs $830 difference coming from? Is AT&T including a $30 upgrade fee?
And which is the better deal?![]()
Not sure I follow. The number mentioned was the trade-in credit. The phone is listed at $999 on both sites.AT&T is marking up some phones by $30, which Apple is discounting back to their retail price. It is not the $35 upgrade fee. Apple calls it a connectivity fee. It’s a shell game.
With AT&T I’ve always gotten in 10 to 20 min early. Never an issue getting launch day delivery. And I order two iPhones. I complete one order completely before I start the second. How long is the window for AT&T delivery typically open for before it starts slipping? I wanna order tomorrow but I wanna know if it takes me more than 5 minutes to order is it going to slip to the following week or something
That’s because AT&T is marking up the phone by $30 and then giving it back as a credit if you trade in another phone. By the way, that $30 is spread over 36 months. Not sure I follow. The number mentioned was the trade-in credit. The phone is listed at $999 on both sites.
Unless I’m missing something, AT&T gives you more trade-in credit. $830 vs $800
AT&T is only marking up the non Pro model by $30. The trade in difference is also only at the middle tier which is kind of strange. Apple is $350/$800/$1000 and AT&T is $350/$830/$1000.That’s because AT&T is marking up the phone by $30 and then giving it back as a credit if you trade in another phone. By the way, that $30 is spread over 36 months.
They aren't marking it up though. The phone is clearly listed for $999 on the AT&T website, and shows monthly payments of $4.73.That’s because AT&T is marking up the phone by $30 and then giving it back as a credit if you trade in another phone. By the way, that $30 is spread over 36 months.
Something fishy about these prices. They should be aligned with Apple. There must be some fine print or it’s an error. Let’s see if it changes tomorrow 🥅They aren't marking it up though. The phone is clearly listed for $999 on the AT&T website, and shows monthly payments of $4.73.
The Apple website shows $999, but $800 in AT&T credit, and $5.53 per month.
4.73 x 36 = $170.28
5.53 x 36 = $199.08
You will pay more with AT&T installments going through Apple. AT&T installments through the AT&T website is the cheaper option.
There's nothing fishy about it. AT&T is simply offering more credits by going directly to them.Something fishy about these prices. They should be aligned with Apple. There must be some fine print or it’s an error. Let’s see if it changes tomorrow 🥅
I'm trying to purchase a 15 pro max 512gb via Apple but I'm having some issues. I'm trading in my 11 Pro Max 256gb with ATT but there is no option to select the NextUp Plan. It's only allowing the NextUp option WITHOUT a trade-in. Is anyone else having this issue?
Also, would it make more sense to do the Apple iPhone Payment plan (0% for 24 months for $56.99 monthly including AppleCare w/Theft) vs ATT w/NextUp($21.84 monthly without AppleCare-with AC $33.84)
You can change the address on Apple during the preparing to ship phase after you place your order.Probably won't affect many but if you are ordering thru apple.com and doing the ATT installments, they ship to the billing address on file with your carrier (ATT). I live in a rural area and a have 2-line address (one for USPS and other for physical address for FDX/UPS). My ATT acct only had the line for the USPS. It won't accept another line nor recognize my physical address. When phone ships FDX or UPS won't know how to deliver. PIA. Called ATT and they overrode it for my physical address. Hopefully that'll work or I'll have to pick up at a store.
I typically don't upgrade every year. I just didn't wanna get locked-in for 36 months.Yeah, I notice it wouldn’t let me do the next upgrade as well.l
It makes sense to go with att next. Save your self 240 over the course of the year… especially if you are upgrading every year
You mean the website let you preorder 10-20 min early? With AT&T I’ve always gotten in 10 to 20 min early. Never an issue getting launch day delivery. And I order two iPhones. I complete one order completely before I start the second.
I understand the promotion, I'm not going to need any luck.Read my earlier comments - good luck.
Yes. Almost every year. You mean the website let you preorder 10-20 min early?
Completed 8 minutes before 8am last year. You mean the website let you preorder 10-20 min early?
