Apparently, they had some bad storms in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex last night. FedEx just told me that my package left the UPS facility in Ft. Worth yesterday morning and has been sitting at DFW Airport waiting to leave there ever since because apparently the flights couldn't get into/out of Dallas last night. Oh well, here's to hoping I get it tomorrow.
The FedEx site still says it'll be delivered by today at 3:00 PM, but it also says the last activity on the package was at 6:00 AM yesterday when the package left Ft. Worth. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be firing the iPhone 4 up 'til tomorrow.
No storms in Dallas Fort Worth (I'm from DFW)--it could either be an untrue statement, just an excuse, or the storms were in the destination city.
On other fronts, my first post.
I ordered 32 GB through Premiere on 6/15 at 12:31 pm CST; Order status at AT&T showed back ordered until yesterday around 4pm, with an order date of 6/16; at 4pm switched to zeros in backordered column; and this morning at around 10:30 am there's a tracking number but still shows as in process with a shipping date of 6-23-10.
Premiere site has never updated since 6/17, and shows in process with an order date of 6/15.
As far as the tracking numbers, folks you do know you can input any tracking number in google, it will figure out the carrier (UPS, FEDEX, or USPS) and link you to their tracking page?
My tracking # is for fedex but shows no info at the moment. I suspect it will ship today and I will have it tomorrow on launch day. In fact, with so many shipping from Fort Worth, mine could just end up on a local delivery truck, but if it follows the normal route of Fedex packages, it will go from Fort Worth, over to Addison, and then up to me.
If I don't get it tomorrow, oh well. It was not as if I was going to get in line at the Apple Store, which was the entire point of preordering. And I did get my Gen 1 iPhone on launch day 3 years ago standing in line at the AT&T store near my house (took about 45 minutes). The iPhone 4 is my first upgrade, as there was not enough in the 3G or 3GS to entice me to pay the additional $15 per month.
I'm hoping to have iPhone 4 on launch day, tomorrow. That's all I ever expected. But it's not the end of the world, if it's delivered Friday.
Keep the faith and relax folks. It should be interesting by tomorrow close of business to see how many folks that preordered before the cutoff on 6/15 have gotten their iPhones. Most will, some won't. If you got a preorder in, you're much better off than all the wannabe's will be tommorrow once the Apple Stores sell out of stock on hand (if they do sell out).
