My trade in of the 5 was seamless, got the $200 card which I will use toward my bill* They would not let me use toward buying the phone on the Next plan. So I'll use it toward accelerated payments and have this phone paid off before Christmas.

They did look at my 5. The rep said "It looks brand new", pretty much was save for a couple of scratches on the back.

The guy at the att store last night told me it was for merchandise only. I could not use it to apply to my bill. I hope that he is wrong because I'll go back again if I can get $200 off my bill.
Have other people some this successfully and how?

I traded-in a 4S for $200. It reduced the contract upgrade cost for an iPhone 6 with 64GB from $299 to $99 plus tax.

how much storage was on your 4s? I have an 8GB 4s but not sure what they'll give me for it.

I bought one phone in store yesterday and had ordered one online. I was able to trade in my 5 and my wife's long-deactivated 4 for $400. He initially put it on a card but then applied it as a statement credit when I asked. So it's definitely possible. Now I'll sell my wife's 5 to Amazon.

They gave me $200 for an 8gb 4. Great deal for that one.

Could someone confirm that even if you have ordered the new iPhone through Apple with a new two year contract you can still take advantage of this offer in AT&T store? Thanks!

You can, but you won't be able to put the $ toward the Apple.com purchase. They'll just give you a prepaid Visa card.

did anyone take in their chargers or anything else? just the iPhone?
All you need is the phone. You won't get any more or less money by turning in the charger, cables, etc.

Make sure the phone is charged. To get the full amount, the phone must turn on and the screen must not be cracked.

Are most people using their own credit card or the ATT installment program? is ATT NEXT installment program a good deal or a rip off?

Don't they charge you extra? How much extra does it cost with this program?

Generally, if you are on a Mobileshare plan, AT&T Next is the better deal. If you are on an older legacy, pre-Mobileshare plan, the contract purchase may be a better deal.

Hey Thrifty1, had a question for you.
How closely did they inspect your old phones when you turned it in? I'm guessing it probably varies by store/manager but was still curious of your experience. I have a perfectly functioning iphone 4 with no history of water damage, but when I look at the bottom dock connector, I do see some red in that little square, which is supposedly the water damage indicator. All the buttons, screen, sound are all perfectly working. I wanted to know if that red would be a dealbreaker. Did they look at the dock connector with a flashlight?
Thank you for your help.

Good question - I was watching him also wondering if he would check for water sensors being triggered. He did not. He just turned it on to be sure it worked.

I ended up canceling my orders thru ATT and bought at the Apple store yesterday instead. Was able to keep my $400 trade in promotion card. Loving my new iPhone 6!!!

ATT Next simply takes the price of the iPhone and divides it into 24 month payments. For example, $649.99 base model would be $27.08 monthly for 24 months. Basically a free (no interest) installment plan.

With the 24 payment plan you can upgrade at 18 months (hence the Next 18 plan name). If you upgrade at 18 months they will waive the remaining 6 payments if you turn in your phone. Or wait for 24 months and the phone is then yours to keep.

With Next you don't pay the $40 per line upgrade fee. You also get a discount on the per line charge. For example, we have the 10GB family or mobile share plan for 3 phones. That costs $100 for the 10GB of shared data plus $15 per line = $145 per month (before any discounts, taxes, etc.). On the traditional 2-year upgrade plan we paid $40 per line plus the shared data (we had less data).

With Next you pay the tax on the phone at the time of purchase. That is it.

Thanks for the info. That's good to know that there is no interest on Next at all! No hidden charges or service charges either?

Last question I have is what if you want to pay it off sooner? Can you pay off more than the minimum monthly payments and pay it off in 6 months instead of 24? Also is it ok if you don't want a new phone after that at all but keep it for a long time?

Also, how do you do the trade in program if you buy it online? How do you apply the credit from your old program if you want to buy it online and mail your old phone in instead of going to the store?

I also have a crack on my phone on the side... It's in the corner where the white frame is of my white iphone. Maybe an inch long or so. Cant take a pic of it cause i dont have a separate camera

There are no hidden charges / service charges on the phone installment part of your bill.

I am not sure about how early you can pay it off. My guess it you could pay off the remaining installments any time along the way, but check with AT&T.

After it is paid off, you can keep it and continue to use it for as long as you want. After the 24 payments are made, your bill would drop by the amount of the phone installment.

For your other questions about doing it online... I would contact AT&T for details.

Att availability

has anyone here gone in to an At&t store without pre-ordering and been able to get one? I'm looking to trade mine in but didn't pre-order.

i went into my local att store with my old 8GB iPhone 4s. zero issues, waited about 5mins and proceeded to trade it in. i only had the iPhone, nothing else (i kept the 30 pin connector and 5w charger). he turned it on, looked up some info on the iPhone itself and started with the promo card process. $200, no questions. pretty easy.

i ended up walking out with a JBL Charge for $130 (regular price is $150). i actually wanted the grey/white one and simply asked him about if shipping is free? he said, you know what. i'll give you a $20 discount if you buy the black one. WTH, why not. I bought it and it sounds great! i still got cash left on the card so the wife wants a case for her 5s.

good promo.

Does the phone being traded in at a retail location have to be AT&T locked iPhone or could I theoretically buy a cheap iPhone on Craigslist for say Verizon and take that in and use it?

So it looks like some folks have used their trade-in towards the purchase of their new iPhone, right? This is what I want to do. I was going to go to Best Buy and get $125 for my mother's old iPhone 4 + $50 gift card from their upgrade promotion, but if I can get $25 more from AT&T AND they'll let me use that credit towards buying an iPhone 6, it sounds like a no-brainer.

Can anyone else confirm that they were able to use their trade-in credit towards buying their new iPhone on contract or on NEXT? Thanks!

I just asked ATT C/S chat if I ordered from Apple can I still get the promotion trade in amount if I bring in my old phone and they said NO, had to be bought from an ATT store or ATT online :( I have my 6+ on backorder with Apple online.

I would just go to an att store and try

I think att is so confused as every rep I have spoken to has a different answer, was told on Next 12 I could upgrade only at 18 months + on and on
