I am very happy with att. 5 phones on unlimited plus...one installment plan for a 7s plus 128gb and two apple watches plus some international stuff...$285 a month. And honestly...and shockingly, their service has been better than my Verizon phone lately all over LA.

if your on the unlimited plus plan or choice plan stay where your at. Don’t switch to there “new cheaper plan” it’s not cheaper it goes down $10 a month then they charge you $30 access fee per phone instead of $20 like it was before. AT&T is a joke. Glad I stayed on my current plus plan.

Yep, and you lose your hotspots if you switch. I got a hotspot on my UDP plan now before they won't let you after 3/6/18.'

So now I have 4 iPhones, 1 Apple Watch, (Had the iPad Pro 10.5) but put the Netgear Nighthawk LTE in it's place today.

OP,
In my opinion, you need to amend the thread title so that it is accurate.

AT&T is not a fraud. They are generating user and device based fees that are not liked by a lot of people. That it and of itself, does not equate to fraud.

Anyone who gives blinds verbal consent regarding changes to their account is either foolish or ignorant, in regards to the ramifications of such. Never sign or agree to any legal binding contract before reading it.
So you read the 37 page contract before signing??

I’m on the same original unlimited plan too without the hotspot and get the corporate discount as well making it the best unlimited option for me. I don’t even use tethering so with the savings I get for 4 lines I will just hold onto the plan.

Same here - I’ve never used tethering in my life. I’m glad I opted into this plan when it came out.

Interesting how people have such difference usage habits. I use tethering almost everyday. I use it for my kids and for my laptop:).

i am on a single line plan and i have old unlimited plus plan. they gave me $10 monthly credit for being a customer and now i logged in the discount has been disappeared. i have to talk to them again!! i am thinking of switching to Verizon!

I'm confused, you have the cheaper of the two unlimited plans that throttle? And that one previously allowed tethering?

I thought the most expensive plan was going to continue being allowed tethering up 15GB before slowing?

The kicker for me: I finally left my individual old $35 a month unlimited data plan I had since early iPhones to the family unlimited on MARCH 1! Yep, THE day of the change in price.

I almost want to write in and see if I could be put on the $5 cheaper older plan since I signed up not really knowing about the price change unless I had read all the details on the website before submitting, but probably a pointless effort with ATT.

NOTE - The Autopay discount is now $20 of the savings, so if you can't be on that, it has went up even more (at least on these new plans). However, there is one benefit, on these new plans with $20 autopay discount (that still comes out to $5 more total than before on the top plan), you can use a credit card now, so you can get some of that $5 price bump back by using your reward credit cards of some kind.

I wonder if folks on the older plans, $5 cheaper, are also allowed to start using credit cards for autopay or must they continue to use debit/bank accounts?

The UDP plan before the ENHANCED one allow you to put hotspots on it. They no longer allow hotspots on the new Unlimited Enhanced plans. Tethering is different than Hotspots. Tethering is using your phone sharing it's data for a computer. A Hotspot can be used as a wifi router in your home, for laptops, etc. It has up to 22gb before it may slow down due to congestion, but it's unlimited.

They both have hotspots. The new plan has 15gb per line vs the 10. But it’s higher priced.

Again you are not correct. A hotspot is a separate device that is not like a cell phone tethering it's data for 10gb/15gb. The hotspot is limited to 22gb, but only if the tower is congested.

This is a hotspot https://www.bestbuy.com/site/at-t-nighthawk-lte-mobile-hotspot-router/6159801.p?skuId=6159801. I own this one.
Both the same damn thing. Besides the phone will only allow up to 10 devices to connect to it vs 20 because it would be an overload for the phone. They both are the exact same thing. Both give internet to other devices weather that be a computer or a phone or anything else. You can also connect them to USB port to share internet.

Tethering is actually better then a hotspot because it allows you to share internet through Bluetooth, usb or WiFi. Where as the hotspot only allows WiFi that’s it. So your wrong. Tethering is definitely better.

Actually the hotspot is faster in speeds usually, it doesn't tie up the phone line on some providers, It has an ethernet jack (where it actually provides much faster speeds than the wifi part), and you can use it at home hooked up to a router. It also does not share your cell phone data. That 10-15gb of tethering on your cell phone is taken away from your total unlimited allowance of 22gb. Once you hit 10 or 15 on the cell phone, it's a hard stop on speeds vs a hotspot which will continue to be fast even after 22gb depending on the tower.

If you don't believe me, research it on howardforums. I've been part of testing speeds with people for a while.

AT&T is no worse or better than any of the other huge companies. I’ve been with them for over a decade now, and I’ve had plenty of ups and downs with my satisfaction with their business practices. However, it’s been a positive overall experience.

If you’ve gotten jammed up because you didn’t bother reading the contract, then that’s not AT&T’s fault. Reading 30 or so pages of fine print sucks, but is a very small price to pay to a company you may be paying tens of thousands of dollars to for years to come.

Also, I am required to use a dedicated hotspot for work, and I use tethering for personal stuff. They are not the same. Read the above post from 4RunnerHeaven. Good info there.

Yes Ik that the hotspot will allow 22gb that’s because it can’t use any data by itself like a phone can.

Trust me if I can leave AT&T, I would but I think in my area, they have the better coverage than TMO.
Yes, the customer service is horrible especially when you want to unlock a phone. It is so complicated.

I agree, it is a bit of a bait and switch.

We have five lines. I went to change over to the new plan since it was being advertised as cheaper and saw that our bill would jump $100 because they no longer offer a $20 discount per line for being outside a contract.

I'm paying $150 for 3 phones (1 in contract, 2 not) for the Unlimited Choice. That's with a discount for paperless billing.

I'll see if they try and add on the $20 fee for the contract phone or not once I get my bill. If so, off to T Mobile I go.

If you on your old plan then eveything should stay the same. Atleast until you switch it to a different plan.
