$160 for 4 lines and 10GB shared data?

Wow. Is this too good to be true or what?

For $20 more than T-Mobile, I'm jumping on this deal ASAP since T-Mobile can't match the level of service here.

Are you kidding me? See what this capitalist did to our head. Now we want to believe it's cheaper after they bump the prices and brought it back a little bit. I cant stand how US companies cry too much saying they're losing money. Despite all the promotion they have we loyal customers being left out. while they try to bribed hundreds of dollars to people to come to their network.

Where are you getting this math from?

$100 (10GB bucket) - $21 (Monthly Discount) = $79
$15 (each smartphone) x 3 = $45
Total = $124

$15 per phone only if he buys them at full price off-contract. If he wants to buy subsidized phones on two year contract, the math is something like this:

$79 + 3*$40 = $199.

In my case I can't save anything :(. Currently I have :

- 700 Shared minutes
- Family Messages
- Unlimited family messages
- iPhone 1 Unlimited Net
- iPhone 2 3GB
- iPhond 3 2GB
- 21% corporate discount

Total i pay $190 after taxes and with new ATT I would be paying $220...No benefit for me.

Check your math.

Haha

They would charge more then tell you to pay them for the work it took to switch to the new plan.

Sadly? This is true. Which is why I am in my last 7 months with them. iPhone 6 (2 plus what ever the low/entry price iPhone is-3 total) drops and we are jumping ship to t-mobile or AT&T

Every customers should thank T-Mobile for making AT&T and Sprint compete.

Exactly. Competition is good for consumers, and this is proof.

I've clung to the "unlimited" plan since I've had an iPhone. This new offering will finally make me give it up. My wife and I have never used more than 2 gb in a month, so 10 gb should be plenty -- and it's cheaper than what we're paying now. Looks like I'll be staying with AT&T.

This makes me feel uneasy. Like another poster said, 'waiting for the other shoe to drop'

But after going through their plan selection tool, I went from $290 a month to $200 a month for 4 iPhones and 1 iPad mini on the 15GB plan.

Can this be real? That is a savings of $1080 per year. Really? What am I missing?

No more subsidy on iPhone upgrades? Hmmm.

Well, its a savings that sounds reasonable, so I made the switch.

No more subsidized phones for you if you want to keep the low monthly rates offered by the new plan. You have to buy phones out right at full price ($650 for an iPhone 5S) here on out. Or you have to opt for the evil ATT NEXT plan (which also adds up to $35 per month per iPhone to the monthly bill). That is what you are missing.

Any phones upgraded prior to today... Are grandfathered to the $15 a month rate plan regardless of they're in a contract or not. But as soon as they renew a contract. It will go back to $40 per line under 2 year commitment pricing.

So I switched to the plan myself. Did all the last minute add lines and upgrades yesterday so we would have all lines grandfathered into the $15 a month rate for a while.

But the difference is that previously, even if you bought the phones outright, you'd still pay the same rates as if AT&T were subsidizing the phones. At least here they're taking a little something off your bill.

ATT and TMobile are the same network

----------

The quality of data LTE wise and as far as advancements ATT puts to their networks will always far outweigh tmobile even if Sprint does buy them.

They share the same network.

Everyone's situation is going to be different, I'm sure it really helps some and some not as much. I see the higher GB plans really saving the most.

Can someone check my math?

Under the previous mobile share value plan with the $15/line discount

4 GB: $70 x 23% discount = $54
2 Lines = ($40 - $15 = $25) x 2 = $50
Total with my discount = $104

New Plan:
10 GB: $100 x 23 % discount = $77
2 Lines = $15 x 2 = $30
Total with discount = $107

Basically $3 more, for + 6 GB.

Does that check out?

So, the $15 is for existing customer lines. Renew and it jumps to $40?

A short term savings until you add more lines or upgrade a phone?

This looks like an awesome plan, I may have my dad switch our current mobile share family plan switch to this. Love AT&T! Will never ever switch. Especially to tmobile and their db CEO and sore-loser marketing.
The db CEO and sore-loser marketing is getting AT&T to be more reasonable in pricing. makes no sense to make emotional post!

You must have been watching too many T-Mobile advertisements :D. I like T-Mobile but, out of all the carriers, it has by far the worst coverage.

May not have good coverage where you live. But they have superior coverage and almost all the major cities

Correct, except for the "renew" part. These new plans do not require a contract so you are going month to month. If/when you choose to change your existing device you have two options:

1. use ATT Next where you pay for the device over time (basically a loan tacked onto your monthly bill). or

2. buy a phone outright and keep the same cost per month.

To me, I'd rather pay for a phone outright than have it be part of some kind of loan/subsidization. In the US, we have become so used to phones costing $200/$300 with subsidy, when they really cost $600/$700.

These new family share plans do seem enticing. If I switched our account from unlimited with 200 txts to this new plan it would basically be the same price per month with our national discount. Except with the new plans, we would be able to do hotspot with our phones if needed. We rarely go over 5gb combined in a month anyways. We are also not stuck with any contract if we did want to move to T-Mobile. Think I might bite finally.

After thinking about it... I guess I should go ahead and switch.. Everybody is going to end up switching over to it in the end.. At end of the day. New phone every year for $5 extra dollars per line per phone than I currently am paying.

I see a big drop in iPhone sales with all these new plans popping up..... Let's see how many people are willing to pay $650 for a new phone every year.

The trick is to sell your old iPhone at the opportune time... ;) If you time it right, it would only cost your $200/$300 a year if you really wanted to upgrade to the latest and greatest phone.

My main question is how much would the trade in value be for the phone. Would it cover the remaining cost owed. Or would I be paying $70 a month. Until I'm caught up.

I think these new plans are simply amazing....

My current lines on a contract plan run me $40 each.

Now At $15, that's a $25 savings.

I just got an iPhone 5S in September. Paid $200 x 2 phones = $400

There was a previous article that said existing customers could switch to NEXT as long as they had been in their contract 6 months.
With Next, you can a) keep your phone 24 months then own it, or b) trade it in after 12 months

But when you FIRST sign up for Next, you don't have to trade in your Pre-Next phone. Basically what they're doing is waiving their own ETF to match T-mobile to entice you in to signing up for Next.
So basically you could get a new phone in September, for zero out of pocket and re-sell your 5S for $250-300 depending on what it's worth on the secondary market at that time

To each is own, but I'm cool with a 16 GB iPhone. The Next cost is $27.

Summary per line:

Old Line Cost: $40
New: $15 line + $27 Next = $42

The whole concept of NEXT sounded awesome... I mean come on who wouldn't want new phone every year. But you were paying for the phone in the subsidy and the Next payment

If I can have a line for $42 AND never pay $200 to upgrade, never pay an upgrade fee, never have to worry about being out of warranty, year 2 wear and tear, etc. I'll take it.
