Another weekly LTE expansion pushing towards nationwide availability
AT&T announced a couple of weeks back that it had hit a pretty big milestone of 365 total LTE markets, but that doesn't mean that the nation's second-largest carrier is slowing its rollout. This week 13 additional markets (and four expansions) are coming online with the newest high-speed technology. Users in the following markets with an LTE device and the proper provisioning on their account should see the network live now:
Moultrie, GA
Tifton, GA
Champaign-Urbana, IL
Mayfield, KY
Paducah, KY
Tupelo, MS
Corning, NY
Springfield, OH
Longview, TX
Marshall, TX
Tyler, TX
Stevens Point, WI
Whitewater-Lake Geneva, WI
That gives AT&T a total of 383 LTE-enabled markets.
Here's a question for those who have been in a recently announced market. Does the LTE show up before the announcement or does it just magically appear the day the announcement is made?

It varies. Sometimes it's months before, weeks before, or even hours before. For example, Portsmouth, NH went up months before it was announced.
LTE turned on here tonight at about 8-8:30 pm in Ankeny, IA. Not sure about Des Moines....will find out in the morning on my commute to work. Will post back if I still have it.
**Confirmed, downtown Des Moines, IA has LTE as well. Finally**

I saw this last night as I was heading back into town from Marshalltown. I got near Carlisle on the Highway 65/5 bypass and LTE kicked in. I had it all the way to my house in Norwalk (my house is literally in a three house radius dead zone so I get jack ***** at my house). Anyway, I have it right now in downtown Des Moines where I work at and the whole drive in along Fluer Dr. Finally...
I am in West Des Moines, and it keeps on switching between 4G and LTE...however on LTE the speed is around 3Mbs and the reception is a lot worse than 4G.
Makes me wonder, does LTE have worse signal penetration than 4G?
AT&T has launched its LTE network in three new markets today, which puts its total number of markets over 400, covering almost 240 million people nationwide. Those three lucky markets pushing the total to 400 are:
Alexander City, Alabama
Concord, New Hampshire
Jamestown, New York
On top of these new markets, AT&T says that it has also expanded LTE coverage in 11 more markets around the country:
Fresno, California
San Francisco, California
Stockton, California
Washington, D.C.
Springfield, Missouri
Columbus, Ohio
Nashville, Tennessee
Houston, Texas
Tacoma, Washington
Seattle, Washington
Charleston, West Virginia
AT&T (just like the other carriers) still has lots of work to do to get its coverage to everyone in the US, but crossing over the 400 market mark is a big deal.
I was in Madison, NJ the other day and noticed that LTE is there now.
Still don't know why the Bridgewater/Somerville/Basking Ridge area doesn't have it yet. This is a huge pharma/corporate area- you'd think that they would have LTE here now! It is in Sparta, NJ but not Bridgewater? Come on AT&T
