looks to be only Next... I'm on an old (unlimited data/550 mins/200texts) plan with 2 phones, one is just eligible for an upgrade, was going to get 6s Plus with 2 year subsidy... i doubt I'd be able to add a "free" phone on next for the wifey though.

16GB that is almost laughable, guess they have an overstock of 16GB model, like a lot lol

Not surprising. AT&T and Verizon have been losing subscribers left and right to the smaller carriers.

Wow, that's quite a deal, I wonder if T-Mobile will respond in kind. I hope they don't, this might be too good to pass up, but we really have no need. It's not like ATT to be a leader like this.

Oh wow, I wonder if this would work for me. I just got a Android phone on Monday on the Next plan but was thinking about trading it in for an iPhone. Also thinking about adding my girlfriend to my plan who wants a new iphone.

Ok so pay for one phone in 30 months and get the other one absolutely free?

Think it's too good a deal to be true.
Well this tells you how overprice their voice/data plans are that they can afford to do this and still make billions in profit.

If you simply read the headline and article, AT&T is doing this deal -- not Apple.
True, but it is not unheard of for OEMs to have stipulations on minimum costs and sale prices to keep retailers from devaluing their brand with overly exuberant sales. I don't know what ATT and Apple's agreements are, but if this BOGO is as it appears on the surface, ATT at least has Apple's tacit approval. If Apple really dislikes seeing their premium product reduced (in perception) to BOGO sales, then ATT could expect some backlash down the road. How? I dunno, but Apple is already running their own upgrade program. They are not too far away from not needing ATT or Verizon store fronts at all to move products. And it is my guess than the iPhone is a big leader to get people into those store to sell phone services too. OTOH, maybe ATT is tired of putting up with Apple's restrictive crap and doesn't care one way or the other? Or maybe Apple is happy to move units to keep their numbers up for Wall Street. Who knows.

AT&T on Friday launched a new "Buy One Get One Free" promotion for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 5 and select other Samsung smartphones, and MacRumors has learned the deal also applies to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

Beginning today until December 31, 2015, AT&T customers who activate or upgrade to an iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus on AT&T Next are eligible to receive a second 16GB iPhone 6s for free, or a $650 bill credit towards the purchase of another iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus model.

The $650 bill credit is spread out into 28 or 30 monthly payments. AT&T Next 24 customers will receive $21.67 over 30 months, while AT&T Next customers with a down payment will receive $23.22 over 28 months, both totaling $650.
The deal doesn't really apply to the iPhone 6s Plus, Macrumors.

They give you a $650 credit on your bill.

The iPhone 6s Plus is $749.

Therefore, the second iPhone 6s Plus is not truly "Buy One Get One Free."

Highly discounted yes, but not free.

There is no "free". Here's what the actual deal entails:

Open a second line and they will give you a $28/month discount on that line.

Yes, I realize that. You still are not paying for the phone, which makes it free. I just emailed my coworker the link because he is planning on opening a line for his daughter.

States in the article it's a 16GB 6S only.

Then only the first paragraph is incorrect:
