Apple's gotta do something with these 16GB iPhones no one wants..

With streaming, and cloud options for other sorts of data, even data hoarders (which I can be sometimes) find less reasson to stash a lot of stuff on their phones. If I ever upgrade from a 5C (if they bring a 4" 6C!!), I'd consider a 16GB model. I know, a lot of people on MacRumors forums figures 32GB should be the base by now. But we're not really representative of all the consumers. A lot of my nextgen relatives seem to keep very little stuff on their phones.

Apple should let the stock do whatever it wants. And if it comes down low enough, they should buy themselves off the market and stop this insanity.

They bring in enough revenue to make insane profit, pay their staff and fund R&D. They have $200 Billion in the bank. Any private company would be laughing but Apple are seen as 'doomed' if they don't outdo themselves.

The only way I bring myself to peace after seeing AAPL everyday, I say to myself the stock is broken.

I was able to do the deal for the 128GB. I just had to pay the difference in the monthly payment in Next for the difference of the phone price. I pay $7 extra dollars a month for the 128 GB instead of the 16GB. It is basically a $650 credit.

FWIW, I did this last night.

I was switching from Verizon so the "new lines" only thing wasn't an issue.

I got...
$200 credit for each line because I am currently with ATT-UVERSE
$100 credit for each line for switching.
$200 credit promised for each 4s i'm trading in ("it just has to turn on")
Two 6s/64GB

I had to pay the tax on the two iphones up front (~$150), and I'll have to pay an extra $100 for the 2nd iPhone when NEXT plan is up on the one I'm paying for.

Seemed like a no brainer to me. It's basically two free phones and the cost and plan is approximately equivalent of what I'm paying now. Plus AT&T has better coverage in my office building.

Can you explain the Uverse credit in more detail? I'm a uverse customer as well for my internet and landline access, but I'm unaware of a tie-in promo. I'm thinking about biting on this deal as well: upgrade 1 line to iPhone 6/s, cancel and port one line to google voice to retain phone #, port back to ATT for 2nd "free" phone, trade in 2 phones (+ hopefully a $100 for porting from GV to ATT to retain old #).

Another question woudl be, "it just has to turn on"? My old 5 is junky as hell, broken glass, but it operates perfectly - afaik the phone has to qualify for at least $10 trade-in value to be eligible for the trade-in credit of $100 for the promo. Where'd you hear "just has to turn on"? If so I could save another $50 by not having to swap out the front assembly manually to fix the glass.

This is why I laugh. Seems like most people on here like spouting off before researching the actual deal. You're 100% correct. They'll credit the first $650, customer would be responsible for the difference monthly for anything higher.

Hope it works for ya. ;)
Just got two iPhone 6S 64GB + iPad mini 2 16GB Wi-Fi + Cellular(reg $399 for promo $99). Everything worked out great: $650 credit on the second 6S 64GB, $100 - new line, $200 trade-in for old iPhone 5 16GB. Paid $195.99 out-of-pocket and got additional (-$200) credit account balance (for trade-in) - so next month is free. Took a little while to port "new" (old :)) line back. The sales rep was very helpful and knew what he is doing. Looks like pretty good Christmas deal to me. Thanks AT&T!

When did you port the old line out so that you can port it back? Who did you port it too? Who is your carrier?

When you switch carrier on any of existing line - it is removed immediately from your account the moment the carrier for specific phone# is changed. Similar when you open a new account or pay-as-you-go in T-Mobile or any other provider they offer to port your existing number.

Sorry for not getting back before (I went on Christmas break and didn't check macrumors). I'm sure this information is already too late to be useful, but I thought I'd follow through.

The guy on the phone said "it just has to turn on", but in reality it had to be a $10 trade in (which meant it had to really really be worth about $100 on the after market). C'est la vie. I had two iPhone 4s's sitting around losing value, so it worked for me.

As for the UVERSE thing, the guy on the phone brought it up. That promotion may have ended as I can only find stuff for directTV on their website: https://www.att.com/shop/bundles.html

Did anyone take advantage of this deal? I did it through best buy. I just got my first bill credit and there were three credits of 21.67. Unfortunately I don't think I'll find out if it was on three different lines or if they just advanced me three credits on one of the phones. Adding the two lines made it 6 lines on my account. I was wondering if it was a glitch that it was going to keep happening (please please please) or just the advance on credits. My bill still has 10 days left until I'd see a pdf of the bill to explain why. I don't want to ask att in case its a glitch I don't want it corrected.

You got three credits due to the fact you did not receive credits for the first two bill cycles for your free device. They needed to make sure that you kept your free device line active before starting to issue credits. The first two credits are for the first two months you paid for the free phone, the third starts the ongoing monthly credits you'll receive through the 30th month for the device.

So basically, with some hoops to jump through.
Free iPhone 6S... not bad... not bad at all.
Not free. Not free at all. You pay them $650 and sign 2 contracts for 30 (?) months. They will then slowly pay you back your $650 invested while you have to pay them much more money each month for your 2 contracts .... That's a terrible deal.

I'm not sure you understand how the buy one, get one free deal works then. Since when do you pay them the $650 up front for the second phone?
