It'd be nice to hear they're also allowing us iPhone owners who didn't get in until the 4 came out. I'd really like to use the iPhone how I want to use it without having to worry about data. :)

What about the people who were new to ATT when they got the iPhone 4.. they should give them unlimited too! :(

Why? You're safely locked in with a giant ETF.

They just increased the govt. taxes a few pennies on my last bill, so theoretically I could get out of it easy. This means other users bills should/will have gone up too.

"Unlimited" AT&T data?

I would find this hysterical if it weren't so sad.

In NYC, you can't check your email. Heck, in Penn Station during rush hour, you can't even send a simple SMS. (I know, redundant, but my point is that it's just short letters -- not emoji or hanzi or kangji or anything tough.)

Saying that AT&T's data plan is "unlimited" is like paying for an all-you-can-eat buffet in North Korea: there just isn't enough to go around, so you're getting shafted either way.

AT&T says that you can't use data and talk on the phone at the same time with Verizon? No problem -- I'll stick with AT&T, where I can have them drop my call while not loading my email all at once.

AT&T has NEVER, EVER had enough bandwidth to properly run the iPhone in NYC. They've always known it, and they couldn't give a rat's butt.

Edit:
That said, **** AT&T and their ******** reception and flakey-assed microcells that never seem to work right.
^This.

Hey did anyone else get the text message from AT&T stating that they will give an extra 1000 minutes added to your rollover balance? I got the text yesterday...They said I had reply back by Feb. 3rd or else I will miss out!! Thought it was pretty funny, anyone else get it?

So basically they want to give us the shaft until someone has what they have but more favorable to us, and they'll continue to give the shaft keeping it a secret that we don't have to take the shaft. Great company.

Dear AT&T, Verizon & Others:

Offer a plan that has it all unlimited for an affordable rate (~ $40/mo) and we'll use it.
-voice
-text
-data
-tethering
-hotspot

Sooooo tired of this BS from the phone companies. Quit nickel & diming us - just give us the plans we want. The phone can do all these things, why not let it?

Wahoo! Look at all the AT&T fanboys hitting that "positive" vote button as fast as possible. I thought all of you wanted people switch and free up some bandwidth? This would, in reality, be a big negative for you, wouldn't it? Customers stay, network remains congested.

Because then everyone will cancel their cable or fiber-optic internet at home and use at&t or Verizon for all their internet needs. And then your phone will enjoy a wonderful 0.02 Mb/s download rate all the time.

Have fun!

I hit positive...I want them to stay on AT&T :D

Or maybe their not "fanboys" just people who are stoked to get a service they want back? really, that make'em a fanboy?? yowza!

Does anyone know if I could keep my unlimited plan if I upgrade from a 3GS to the future iPhone 5? I know it's way too early to know for sure, but it's just a question :p

I was an idiot for changing to the 2gb plan last June so I just called in and after the rep talked to the "floor supervisor", she went ahead and changed me back to unlimited.

Now I don't have to keep an eye on my data usage every week :D

Right now their current rules say that you can upgrade from an iPhone 3GS to a newer one and keep your current plan.

So: Yes

But of course they can change the rules at any time.

So: Who knows

If ATT starts giving us discount pricing, unlimited data and tether for their long term patrons, I'd definitely stay. Otherwise, HELLO VERIZON!:D

If they really wanted to keep their customer base they would make the offer to those who never had the option to go unlimited. The ones they are going after already made the choice the drop their unlimited plan...

Whoa! 0.02 Mb/s - that's what I get with AT$T now!

Good news for me no longer needing to buy verizon service cause after 2 phone calls and speaking to manger and looking over my old account when I had iphone 3gs I was able to be on unlimited data :) They told me if I ever change anything in my plan then I would never be able to get unlimited data back.
