Yep I just called the att store and he told me the same thing. June 25th through july 5th is when you will get it due to the amount of orders. About to order mine through the :apple: store app
 
this is hard to believe unless online orders were through the roof. I ordered mine at the att store and he said they had about 60 pre-orders and that was around 3 pm here. I hope my order went through, they were running around trying to fix the computers the whole time.
 
for the first time i got this message from AT&T page. prior, i just got the spinning wheel.

"We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are unable to support this request online. Please contact Premier Support at 1-866-499-8008 Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time for assistance with your request. Please reference Error P1232 if you speak to a representative about this error"

I actually went to the store before and stood in line for over an hour. Sent home with leaving them my info. Have yet to make contact and give them the CC number to pay to finalize the order. I was there in the morning and here i am without a preorder. People have probably gone in after me and ordered it. I"m so pissed. I went to Apple too and they said to use the App. No luck pre-ordering but made a reservation. I hope it's real. I'll get to the Apple store at 4am. I can do that. Sometimes i have to be at work that early. It's at a location that is not very popular. I sorta out in the middle of nowhere.

That's sixty pre-orders at one location. Imagine online orders, other locations, by the phone etc...
 
I wonder what the numbers are going to be like for the first day of preorders. I really doubt AT&T thought they would sell out on the first day.

That has been happening all day long. I just just kept going to apple.com and att.com and see which one will get me through to get a order confirmation number and att.com finally went through.

I got my order in just before 2:10 PM CST which mean that I should have mine on June 24 since 1:30 PST is 3:30 PM CST.
 
I have been trying all day to pre-order the damn phone, I finally got one into AT&T at 2:47.. and now I hear that because I'm 17 minutes late I won't get mine on launch day

Way to really F this up Apple and AT&T, this whole years iPhone release has been botched. First the Wi-Fi problem, then releasing customers information via a server glitch to other customers while trying to pre-order, and now the iPhone selling out completely before days end.

This is complete crap, I hate you AT&T!

"Because of the incredible interest in iPhone 4, today was the busiest online sales day in AT&T history. As of Tuesday afternoon, customers who preorder iPhone 4 moving forward will receive their device on June 25 or later, depending on when the order is placed. We'll email customers with confirmation once their order is placed, and again when it ships. In addition, we will have devices available on a first-come, first-serve basis in our stores beginning on June 24."

I haven't seen one post from someone who ordered with no problems at all. You would think if they sold out that we would be hearing from more people who got their orders in. Took me 6 hours to get 2 iPhone's pre-ordered off Apple.com using two Apple ID's on two different phone lines.

I ordered from ATT. Took 2 tries - once at 5:30AM when I woke up and the check-out page wasn't working right. Second was at 7:00AM when I finished my morning exercise and it took about 3 minutes to get the order through with confirm emails received immediately. Not too bad. Hopefully I'll have my iPhone at the door by mid-morning on the 24th. Easy for my as I work from my home.

Let me know how it goes for you but I keep getting "There was a problem connecting to the server. Please make a reservation at your nearest Apple Retail Store, where a Specialist will be ready to help you."

They were not prepared nearly enough for pre-orders, hence why their servers kept crashing throughout the day, so yes this has been all AT&T's fault.
 
I'm not fully eligible to upgrade to iphone4. I had the option of 399 and 499 prices. Anyone know if I will be able to walk into store and pick one up for the no committment 599 and 699 prices? I still have more than 1 year on contract but don't want to resign contract.

After the clusterf*ck pre-ordering was today, I decided not to do so. I went into AT&T around 3 p.m. central time and the guy who came to help me said that the last person's pre-order said it wouldn't ship until the 25th. So then and there I knew I wasn't going to do that and he said he was unhappy about it too because he wanted one on the 24th. So I asked if they would have any devices on launch day for people who didn't pre-order and he said they weren't sure.

This press release is at least promising to me because I have no problem waiting in line the night before (and I'll catch up on class readings while doing so :rolleyes:). So it's a little more easing for me to hear that AT&T will have some stock on launch day for me to hopefully snag!
 
Oh my god I'm so f'n pissed!!! I'm on the phone with AT&T right now. I am out of town and will only be here until the weekend after launch so I went in this morning to a local store and they ran my info and took my card the old fashioned way and said i'd be good to go for the 24th or 25th. I just called back and they said they didn't process it until 5:30 EST and that they probably wont have one for me by then.... On top of that I cant cancel my order or change the address it gets shipped to and I won't even be in town anymore.....WTF!!!!!!

And on top of all of this, I sold my 3GS and I'm going phone less until I get the new one...F U AT&T
 
I'm pretty sure AT&T had at least an idea of their allotment from Apple. I still question this though IF true though it wouldn't surprise me.


Any of the other 4 companies participating in the iphone launch are only allowed so many. I thought i read somewhere that Radio shack was only allowed 9000.
 
Sweet just called AT&T and now they claim that they have no information on the pre-order I placed. "Sorry sir we don't have it in our system that you placed a pre-order", well that's just ***** fantastic.

Agreed. I went to the AT&T store when they opened @ 9AM, first one there, in and out with a $199 iPhone 4 pre-order, no problem. Came home to my confirmation email.

Yes I did, and I gave it to them, but they still said sorry we don't have a record of it.

I called and got a similar answer, but was told that it may take 24 hours to go into the system. I'd wait and call tomorrow to confirm. Either way, I may cancel and just go to the apple store....
