this is hard to believe unless online orders were through the roof. I ordered mine at the att store and he said they had about 60 pre-orders and that was around 3 pm here. I hope my order went through, they were running around trying to fix the computers the whole time.
That has been happening all day long. I just just kept going to apple.com and att.com and see which one will get me through to get a order confirmation number and att.com finally went through.for the first time i got this message from AT&T page. prior, i just got the spinning wheel.
"We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are unable to support this request online. Please contact Premier Support at 1-866-499-8008 Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time for assistance with your request. Please reference Error P1232 if you speak to a representative about this error"

Way to really F this up Apple and AT&T, this whole years iPhone release has been botched. First the Wi-Fi problem, then releasing customers information via a server glitch to other customers while trying to pre-order, and now the iPhone selling out completely before days end.

I haven't seen one post from someone who ordered with no problems at all. You would think if they sold out that we would be hearing from more people who got their orders in. Took me 6 hours to get 2 iPhone's pre-ordered off Apple.com using two Apple ID's on two different phone lines.
Yep I just called the att store and he told me the same thing. June 25th through july 5th is when you will get it due to the amount of orders. About to order mine through thestore app

Yes, it's AT&T's fault that Apple only gives them a certain number of phones.
Official response from AT&T on Gizmodo:
"Because of the incredible interest in iPhone 4, today was the busiest online sales day in AT&T history. As of Tuesday afternoon, customers who preorder iPhone 4 moving forward will receive their device on June 25 or later, depending on when the order is placed. We'll email customers with confirmation once their order is placed, and again when it ships. In addition, we will have devices available on a first-come, first-serve basis in our stores beginning on June 24."
I'm pretty sure AT&T had at least an idea of their allotment from Apple. I still question this though IF true though it wouldn't surprise me.
Sweet just called AT&T and now they claim that they have no information on the pre-order I placed. "Sorry sir we don't have it in our system that you placed a pre-order", well that's just ***** fantastic.
Agreed. I went to the AT&T store when they opened @ 9AM, first one there, in and out with a $199 iPhone 4 pre-order, no problem. Came home to my confirmation email.I got mine through AT&T this morning. Lots of people had success doing AT&T as well. I know several people even went to stores to place their orders. I don't think Apple is anywhere near end of supply for the launch. My guess is they will have a few million units ready for launch. Just a guess of course![]()

Yes I did, and I gave it to them, but they still said sorry we don't have a record of it.
