It does make me wonder whether the stores will have phones for non-preorderes on launch day. Perhaps I'll get lucky... anyone planning on standing in line in Southwest VA launch day morning?
Yeah mine went through at 6:15 AM PST. I think I'm good. I also have a confirmation page.

I got my order in before the 4.30 cut off time that is being reported.....however I still don't have a confirmation e-mail. I'm not totally freaked out because their servers are probably just melted...but ugh...suck!

That does NOT mean that tens of thousands arent getting through. It took me 4 hours, I have a printed confirmation but no email yet.
Ordered mine from Apple at about 3:45 p.m. CST. Based on the confirmation page with my order. I'm getting mine the 24th or earlier
I think if you order though Apple, you will still be ok. It's just that AT&T that burned though their stock. With all the problems, I wonder what their allotment was?
The AT&T Store near me is still taking orders, my friend lives closer and they wont answer the phone so he just went there and from the store sent me a message saying they're still taking orders....should I NOT do it? Is it no longer for launch day? Would their system tell them not to do it if it was sold out?

At this point I'd try to get my name down on at least some sort of list... even if it means after June 24th... it would suck even more if you stood in line on launch day, they sell out, and the delivery dates for orders on launch day will probably exceed July 5th.
Well I'm going to have to pay for the 2 phones...and total its going to be over 1000 dollars (which is ridiculous) so what I'm trying to avoid is paying for them, finding out I don't get them on launch day then finding somewhere else that I can get them on launch day and then having to pay a second time. Don't really want to have to free up 2 grand on what-ifs.
I wouldn't trust what AT&T says on their confirmation page. You should get a confirmation email that ur order went thruOtherwise, i'd lower my expectations.
I got the confirmation email about 1 min after I placed my order at 8AM EST. Still nothing in my order status though. Which is freaking me out.

Sorry for all of you if you don't get your phone when you are expecting. I know that is gonna HURT! That is why I am desperately trying to wait until at least the first week in July to let the dust settle. Man I hope this works out and there aren't 1,000's of pissed people out there cause they didn't get thier phone on the 25th.

I can't say that I'm all that surprised AT&T sold out - I would say that until mid-day you really couldn't get through on Apple's site (it was down and up all day) but AT&T's site was much more fluid and less buggy until noon or so. I ordered at 7 AM EDT and it was pretty easy.
I had no problems what so ever ordering from AT&T. Woke up at 0530 and went to AT&T website and placed two different 16gb iPhone 4 orders for myself and my fiance. I received a confirmation email shortly there after for both orders.
just called and talked to John at my store and he told me that AT&T is giving the stores until tonight to enter your information that they took by hand... if it is not entered tonight, your ship date is 6/25-7/5... if entered tonight, you'll get it on 6/24.... per him anyways.

That would be excellent. i was in the store at 10am and got the handwritten confirmation. I do show on ATT that the order is in progress, so i guess i squeezed through..
