Looks like Athina is still on the clock, folks... She copy/pasted me the same response others were getting earlier.

Thank you for your patience! Your AT&T Representative will be with you shortly.
Welcome! You are now chatting with 'Athina '
Athina : Hello, thank you for chatting with AT&T today. I am currently reviewing the information you have supplied.
Athina : We have not heard from you. Do you wish to continue the chat?
Athina : I see you r inquiring about an upgrade fee, is that correct?
Ben: Yes
Athina : I am in the Order Status chat group so I’m a bit limited as to what I can assist with. You may reach one of our Customer Care Specialists at 800-331-0500, Monday through Friday, 7am and 9pm Eastern; Saturday between 9am and 6pm.
Ben: Ok, no worries. I'm just a little concerned with paying an upgrade fee for a phone I don't even have yet haha
Athina : From my knowledge I believe the money is on a pre-authorized hold to make sure the funds are available and they don't charge you until the phone is shipped.
Ben: My payment was on hold until this morning. Now that money is back and available in my account. I noticed that my bill was available to view and it's $40 more than last month. I figured this was due to the upgrade fee.
Athina : I'm not sure. Definitely contact our Customer Care specialist and they can go over that with you.
Ben: Will do, thanks Athina. I do have a question also that involves my order status. I noticed the shipping date changed between Friday and Sunday. Currently it's due to ship between 10/13/14 and 10/22/14. Is there any chance of that moving up again?
Athina : Yes, any order ordered on 9/12 or 9/13 should be receiving their orders on 9/19. Customers are seeing pushed back dates because our system is on a default setting and when the website was getting a lot of orders put in, it automatically pushed the dates back. You should have nothing to worry about and I apologize for the inconvenience.
Ben: Oh wow, thanks for the good news!
Athina : No problem. Is there anything else I could assist you with today?
Ben: That's all

Just got off the phone with "Liz". She wasn't as optimistic as "Marissa", the rep I had an online chat with earlier today.

"Liz", who was very nice and professional, albeit obviously completely shot told me nobody really knows when the 6+ is shipping.

I think we have a pretty legit gripe here with all the conflicting info being put out.

No, it's not three business days either. I had a pending charge from Gamestop on my AMEX for over a week while waiting for an Xbox One and PS4 to ship before Christmas.

Yeah there's probably no set amount of days. I remember last year the pending charge was on there for maybe 3-7 days (can't remeber) and then it fell off and reappeared again once they shipped my phone.

Got this message on my account profile -- Hopefully it portends good and 5.5 inch things...

I'm not seeing that, but I did check my profile and it now says that the contract on the iPhone 6+ line will end on 9/12/2016. That was definitely a concern, if I don't get my phone until Oct, is this line still eligible for upgrade in Sept. Apparently so. :)

Just got off the phone with customer support. I asked him if my shipping date of 10/31 thru 11/11 was accurate and he responded that it was VERY accurate and told me the only way I would get the device on launch day would be if I lined up at an apple store. I don't know what to think of this. This guy was pretty confident that the date was not changing. Is there any way he is just plain wrong?

Did anyone ever see the episode of South Park where cartman was waiting for the Nintendo wii to come out? That's what some of you are reminding me of right now :)

I've preordered every iphone to date from att the second they went live on their site. Every year it's been the same, I've received a bogus ship date and then I get my phone on launch day. I placed my order this year at 1:47 am central time and I have a delivery day of 10/2 thru 10/13. I have no doubt what so ever that I will receive my phone on launch day. From my experiences with preordering from att the dates they give you mean nothing. Odds are if you are one of the lucky ones to get one on launch day you might not get a shipping notice until it's almost on your door step.

LET'S ALL CALL AND ASK FOR ATHINA!!

REP: Thank you for calling AT&T. How may I help you?
US: Yeah, is Athina home? Can she come to the phone?

finally broke down and contacted a CS agent even after I said I wouldn't...lol...we all know by now they either tell us what we want to hear or don't. but this agent said it so perfectly so I bet she wouldn't get in trouble....

Agent-"Your order is set on schedule for shipment, so you should be getting it soon."

what does that mean, but then she came back and said, "Your order is set to be shipped on the 19th".

I ordered at 11:52pm,9-11 a 6+ 64gb Space grey

What does it show on your "shipping dates"?

Yeah i Just called and he seemed to think my date of 10-13 to 10-22 was accurate. hoping it changes magically in the next couple days.

I also got Athina on the online chat and she told me I would receive mine on Friday. I wonder how many of their reps go by the name Athina. I am sure they assign you a name when they hire them.

After growing tired of refreshing this thread repeatedly (do I really have nothing better to do??? guess not!), I decided to read some of the old pre-order threads to see if I could get a better depiction of what happened on previous releases.

Check out this page: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1441041/

You can see the same exact type of thing happened 2 years ago with people getting shipping dates into October, but who got their phones not too long after launch day. So not everyone got their phones on launch day, but seems most got them soon (like the next day) after. I'd definitely be okay with that. It's just so frustrating not knowing.

The waiting... is the hardest part.

I got the "Important information about your AT&T plan" email & logged in to look at my CSS. My husband's regular iPhone 6 is now listed. None of the other phones have changed.

My iPhone 5 was scheduled to deliver on October 4th 2012 but I got it 2 days after launch day. I preordered that 6 hours after preorders opened.

My iPhone 6+ was ordered 25 minutes after preordered opened so I'm hoping it delivers on launch day or soon thereafter.

just had this convo with live chat

Tanika McCrary: because of the massive order that apple has received for these new phones the phones all have been pushed out for delivery. A lot of the 6 plus's are being pushed back into Late october early November. The regular 6 is being pushed forward an extra 2-4 weeks.

cristian araujo: so the rep that told me all phones ordered on the 12th and 13th will be overnight shipped and received on the 19th lied?

Tanika McCrary: Originally that's what was suppose to happen. But that was before the orders came in as fast as they did. Now we have to follow the dates that are on order track. The customers that ordered sooner (the first day) will still be the first ones with the phones whenever they are shipped

cristian araujo: this was told to me today

Tanika McCrary: What was?

cristian araujo: that pre orders ordered on the 12th and 13th would be over night shipped and delivered on the 19th. That the pushed back dates are pretty much a glitch because of the massive pre orders

Tanika McCrary: That may be true, as far as I know we are being told to follow the dates listed in the order tracker. If another rep told you it would be shipped over night they may know something that I do not. I do hope you get your device overnight though :)
cristian araujo: ok thanks

yup just called as well... they must have had a team meeting... because i was just told to go by my first email that said 14-21 days from the original order date but it my come sooner.

He said that the system has been throwing around crazy dates and since i was so early on the order that i wouldn't be waiting that long or waiting at all... they said they would know more info friday

It's pretty clear that the csr reps have no idea about our order status. They're just about as clueless as we are. I admire the optimism of some of you guys, but take what they say with a grain of salt. Is be surprised if a handful of us even get our 6+ delivered from ATT by launch date.

Pre-orders have been bad with ATT in the past, but I've never seen it this bad. I was watching the market and both APPL and ATT stocks were down because of this debacle.

I still think that shipping dates most of show aren't accurate and more of a safety net in ATT's part, but I also believe many of us stuck in the 10/13-10/22 will probably get bumped up a week, after the launch date comes and goes and the dust sort of settles.

I ordered a 16gb iPhone 6 plus at about 3:30am EST on Friday morning and my shipping date was Oct 30th-Nov 11th and now it's Oct 13-22 or whatever. My charge on my credit car was pending since Saturday and after looking at it tonight it's not showing up anymore if that means anything. There have to be some people receiving their pluses on Friday. Hopefully I'm one.

there is prob a handful that have oct 2 dates but that's it. The 13-22 people are launch day people i would imagine... Someone posted saying there's was coming from china so its going to de a huge delay drop shipping from across the world...

yea don't read to much into that, my hold dropped on both phones and have a tracking number for one of them but not the other... The system is just so slow

Tomorrow is the last day I can hold out. If there's no shipping info in UPS Choice by then, it seems like it wouldn't be here in time for Friday. I would rather just camp out at the At&T store near me for 24 hours and walk out with a phone Friday than to play the waiting game plus as a college student with no huge responsibilities this may be the last year I can do so anyway . That may be petty, but I'm extremely impatient lol. Hopefully my cancelation will push everybody up, the shipping dates are wrong, and a lot of people get their phones delivered on Friday.

This is from 2010 tho, you would think 4 years later they do things a little better or at least different...Very interesting none the least, and we all know they havent had a launch like this before. 4 mil in 24 hours....dam

So, here's the thing about AT&T, and change. They behave like it is 1981 and divestiture never happened. I work with them every day, and what you guys are experiencing with your pre-orders (I am too - 128gb Space Grey, ordered at 12:05am PST) I deal with whenever I work with them.

Remember the old Lily Tomlin Bell Telephone commercials on Laugh-In? We Don't Care, We Don't Have To - We're the Phone Company. That attitude is alive and well at AT&T.

Call five different people with a question, get five different answers. Expedite an order - $1400 please. Escalate to an executive, good luck - won't help.

I do think that many of us will wind up getting our phones on launch day, just don't expect AT&T to improve their processes or their customer service, because it just isn't going to happen. They really are a terrible company - I stay with them because I get good coverage in my area, and because as bad as AT&T is Verizon is WAY worse.

I would absolutely hate to work at ATT right now. Getting call after call regarding the same topic. I know its hard but could we give the CSR's a break guys? Think of how frustrated they are.

This.

I used to work a huge call center in NYC as a CSR and being flooded with calls is not easy. This explains why some of their responses are about the same, almost generic. Millions of pending orders and the lines flooded with the same questions. On the other hand, still a weak excuse on how ATT handled pre-orders for the 6 +.

It is just a phone (iphone). You can live without it for a long time. Besides, you will almost forget about after you have it and no more fun & exciting after that. Remember it feels great when you were dating but it is ****** nightmare after marriage. Waiting is gold
