Dumped My Pre-Order, Walked into an AT&T Store, and out with an iP6

Ladies and Gents: Totally jacked up purchasing experience. I'm a Premier AT&T customer (US Army) and like many of you I pre-ordered on 9/12. Although I ordered 2 x iPhone 6 Plus' (128GB, Gold) around 8:22am (EST) that day, I was able to secure both of them with an EST Ship Date between 11/11 and 11/27. On 11/14, the shipping status changed to 10/31 and 11/11.

This morning (9/20), I cancelled both orders through the AT&T website (link was provided on my initial email confirmations), and immediately received an email to confirm which required a link, and then a follow-up email confirming my orders were cancelled.

I then went to the Apple app on my iPhone, and after selecting the same configuration (iPhone 6 Plus, 128gb, Gold), followed by selecting the AT&T NEXT purchase option (and then Apple Care), I completed the orders with an EST Ship Date of 3-4 weeks (2 weeks sooner than my pre-order dates).

Here's where it gets fun...my wife tells me she wants to go to the store and actually see and compare the phones. So we head to our local AT&T store (Leesburg, VA, 20176) which is not a "level 2" store, and she decides that she likes the damn iPhone 6  The rep at the store said they did not have the iP6 in 128, Gold, but the Reston, VA store (level 2) did. So, we sped over there, confirmed they had the phones, and cancelled our Apple orders via Apple's website.

In the end, my wife and I walked out of the AT&T store with two (2) iPhone 6s, 128GB, in Gold.

She's happy :D; I'm happy :), and the son's of bitches who are behind this poor experience have their $$$.

Hope you all benefit from the info, and best of luck!

Not that I am adding any value to this thread, just had to sulk here. My eligibility wasn't opening up till 10/12/14, so I called in complained to ATT. They said they would bump up my eligibility but only if I can place the order through them. The local apple store seems to have plenty of the 6+ 64 Gig gold units in stock. I got the $40 activation fee waived and my shipment date says 11/8-11/27.

Oh well, I just get to wait. Trying to add a positive spin at least my contract date got bumped up and when times come around for the iphone 8 in 2 years, I will at least be able to order it right away.

My phone SHIPPED!! I ordered iPhone 6+ 64GB silver and had a ETA of 10/2-10/13. The online shipping page still shows processing but I called the automated line (877-782-8870) and it said shipped. Got my tracking number will be here Monday!

Seems like anyone who has ordered a Gold 6+ or has the 10/13/14-10/22/14 date has not had any luck at all #

Nope. I ordered a silver 6+ 64gb and my dates are 10/13-22... Looks like we'll be the next wave. Hopefully that is next week.

iPhone 6+ 128GB Silver shipped

My iPhone 6+ 128GB Silver finally shipped today out of Ft Worth. I ordered it on the 12th and finalized order at around 4am EST. Have been in the 2nd-13th shipping group for a while. Looks like I'll have it Monday!!! Well in hind sight this wasn't too bad. I was able to go by a store today and look at it... some people think its too big but I think I'm going to like it. I didn't think it was awkward in my hands at all.

I feel like everyone here is family! Hope you enjoy your phones!

I forgot to say I was premier!

Ordered at 3:20 AM CST last week. SG, 6+ 64GB. Still stuck in 10.2 - 10.13 purgatory.

Called AT&T and did the online CSR chat. Both said the EXACT same thing:

"Based on the account that pulls up for your order it shows as an account I do not have access to. We do however have another chat group that can assist with your particular request, but unfortunately this department is currently closed. Would you like their phone number for future reference?"

AT&T is ridiculous. How fragmented is their company? I just want info on my order, and they continue shuffle their customers around to different departments.[/QUOTE

They did the same with me and transferred me via chat. Then I got my tracking number.

Mine still says backordered site shows a 10/2 - 10/13... :(

I am on the Next plan already and preordered my 6+ 16GB SG at 3:06am on the 12th, got confirmation at 4:50am. Got a 10/2 - 10/13 date which has never changed. I go to the local AT&T store on the 19th because "they had a bunch" that morning , waited in line for an hour for them to tell me sorry we only had three were all out.

This morning I go on Apple.com at 6am to find there are three stores within an hour drive that have them. Since I am a next customer I was told I could pick one up in person. I go down there when the mall opens to find a line around the mall and our the door ALL OF THEM CHINESE/ASIAN etc.

They should not allow these people to just buy 5 phones at a time to go and resell them. It's total ****ing ******** for people who just want to buy a ****ing phone especially those that pre order it. **** YOU AT&T and **** YOU APPLE. AND **** YOU GREEDY *******S. ****. /rant.

I just ordered an iPhone 6 plus 128GB through the ATT website today. the estimated ship date is 10/29/14 - 11/07/14. lol But I already got a text message saying "congratulations! We have processed your ordered and it has been sent to out warehouse for shipment". and the Shipping Status says, Preparing to Ship. I hope that means it will ship a lot sooner than 10/29/14. lol

See this doesn't make any sense, AT&T is totally not following the first come first serve basis. Boooo.

Sorry to disappoint you but mine has been preparing to ship for about a week. After payment goes through, it's all considered preparing to ship from that point onward.

How is that a bad experience? You ordered 5 hours after pre-orders opened and as a result received a later delivery date. Since you're impatient, you cancelled the orders WITHOUT ISSUE. Then you order from Apple with NO ISSUES. Later you change your mind again and cancel your Apple order WITH NO ISSUES. Then you waltz into an ATT store and pick out the models you want and buy them WITH NO ISSUES.

Tell me again why it's a bad experience when you're impatient and can't make up your mind? And as a result of your impatience you have NO ISSUES getting the iPhone 6 even after TWO cancelled orders?!
