11/18/2011

Pre-ordered mine and received it a few days before launch. Seems strange that other launch day purchasers with a November upgrade date differ by a few days. I don't have any discounts, but my bills runs about $89 month, so I'm obviously below the line for being one of AT&T's higher paying customers.

Hopefully my date will be moved up so I don't have to pay the higher upgrade price to get the new iPhone on launch again.

I just did the *639# thing, and it says I "may" qualify on 6/30/11. What does that mean? On 6/30/11 do I have to check again to see if I actually qualify or not?

I switched to AT&T on launch day for the iPhone4 (June 29, 2010)

I currently have 5 lines on my account and spend about $250/month.

Does AT&T normally allow full upgrade pricing after a year?

Thanks in advance,

Cosmo

My understanding is that it really doesnt matter how many lines are on an account, its how much your spending per line. In the eyes of AT&T someone spending $100/month on themselves is more valuable than you spending $50/month x 5. Im not going to argue whether this is right or wrong, its just how it is. And just for the record, I am in the same boat as you when it comes to not making that $100 threshold.

Mine says 2/25/12 and I got my iPhone 4 on launch day (6/24/10). My line typically gets the 20 months. Man, I would love to get a once a year upgrade! If AT&T can do that for me and for any phone (not just iPhone), I would stay with them for many more years!

Last night, I was doing a roadmap of future gadgets I plan to get within the next 5 years after studying NVIDIA's Tegra roadmap of Kal-El, Logan, Wayne, and Starks. I came down to WP7 vs QNX for my next phone. But I don't see RIM pushing QNX that soon and it probably needs a few years of refinement. Android still lacks polish, and since they are allied with NVIDIA, it seems like I can just wait for Starks by 2014-2015. NVIDIA has a roadmap that seems to make specs obsolete before they arrive. But I pray a SE "PlayStation Certified" gets Starks by 2015. The NGP/PSP2 stays home alot more by then.

So likely WP7 by Feb-Apr 2012, and then QNX by Oct-Dec 2013. Then a PlayStation Android phone by Jun-Aug 2015. The sooner I can upgrade, the better. I don't see Starks (Tegra 6) out until that year even if it says 2014. By then, the XPERIA PLAY phones would be in its 4th or 5th gen which makes it more refined and mature. Heck, it took 5 years until Microsoft got it right with the sleek Xbox 360 S last year.

I really hope my date gets moved up in some way. We pay over $130+ per month for a family plan. I would love to get a cheap Samsung Focus this summer! I will never sell my iPhone 4, but I can understand the resellers doing it because you can make such a nice profit on something we enjoy having anyway! For me, it is all about creating a superteam of phones (iOS, Android, WP7, & QNX). I don't even like Sammy or Microsoft, but I have been eyeing that Focus for weeks now! I like the price, screen, OS, and design. Just hate the power button being on the side. After three years with iOS and realizing I am no longer an app whore, I just wanna try new things.

The only way you are going to get that annual upgrade is pay more money to AT&T. Only applies to primary lines. You have to pay 99 dollars or more a month.

My account will be eligible on Aug 12th, 2011 (20 months after I got my 3GS in Dec 2009). I'm hoping they move it up to the iPhone 5 release date if it comes out before then (like it usually does). I could use another family member to do the upgrade, but I'd prefer to use my own.

Bought my iP4 on 6/25/10 and I am eligible on 11/26/11. Seems like it is the normal upgrade path for me.

Same here. Bought on release day, eligible on 11/18/2011.
When you say "eligible", what exactly are you talking about? I'm "eligible" right now for an upgrade at $499, but not the $199 at the end of a two year contract.

Yep, 6/25/2011.

Rest easy everyone, it's the same as last year. You'll be eligible for full upgrade after only 12 months with new contract provided you spend at least 99 bux a month.

Att has to do this to keep people from leaving.

I'm eligible March 29th but of course I'm not upgrading till June. I still have a 3GS that I purchase in October of 2009.

This is no big secret! If you walk into AT&T they will tell you this new right to your face. They simply changed their updgrade policy!:D

3/05/2012. Bought in July.

I'm not the primary and my family's bill is around $90 a month, so not a big surprise, and no big deal-- I have a feeling the iPhone 5 will be little more than a speedbump.

Eligible for the full upgrade discount ($199 price). Oddly enough, I've been eligible for the partial upgrade discount ($499 price) since the day after I got my iPhone 4 (launch day).

Nothing less than 6 months before 2yr contract expires

My wife & I purchased our new iPhone4's on Nov.2.2010.

Just checked and AT&T shows we will be eligible for upgrades in July 2012, essentially 6 months before our 2 year contracts expire...

Question: Since I won't be updating in March, I just can keep paying my bill until the new phone is released? Will it automatically just change to a month-to-month?

I'm sure AT&T will bump everyone up again this year in June like they did last year. Why wouldn't they want to keep us locked up longer? I'd buy again for $299 and have them raise the ETF fee's, I'm never leaving! ;)
