Just looked, I bought the iPhone 4 on launch day and it says I may be eligible for an upgrade 6/25/2011.

Originally pre ordered iPhone 4 and just checked and am eligible on 6/19/2011. For those who are not eligible these early discounts are based on your account status plus how much you spend a month with them.

Got my iPhone as soon as I realized waiting for white wasn't worth it. No more than a month after launch for sure. I get 12/24/2011 for upgrade date.

I am not too worried though last year it was the same deal, but when it got a couple days until launch it had changed.

3/4/2012 here--but my bill's well under $100 monthly due to a hefty FAN discount and minimal minutes, so I didn't figure on a really early upgrade. Current phone was picked up about a month after launch.

Got my iPhone 4 in July 2010 and did that *new# thing and it says I MAY qualify for a full discount on a headset or an iPhone upgrade on 7/11/2011 :)

I have a nice fat FAN discount on my account... lol

No upgrade for me until 2/2012 still - one month before the iPhone 5 comes out Im going to max out my phone bill with all options. :D

Called *639# and this is what I got. Doesn't say anything about upgrade date and I got my iPhone 4 6/23.

As a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee.
This is what I got as well. I think what that means is for about $400, you can upgrade (+ the $18 upgrade fee).

I bought my iPhone 4 on 11/13/2010 and I'll be eligible for an upgrade on 07/14/2012.

Back in December 2010 (since 1 month after my new 2 year contract started), I was eligible for a discounted iPhone upgrade at a higher price ($399 plus tax plus $18.00 upgrade fee) with a two year commitment but now I am ineligible for the discounted iPhone upgrade at a higher price!?

I could be wrong, but I believe you have to have all of those additional options for at least 3 months in order for them to count that toward your early-upgrade eligibility.

I have no idea how AT&T is coming up with these dates. I pre-ordered my iPhone 4 on 6/15/10. The date I "may" be eligible for an upgrade is 11/20/2011. That is about 17 months after getting my iPhone 4. I'm not going to worry though. Common sense says this date will change (be moved up) as June comes near.

I received mine on 7/25/11, may be eligible on 7/25/11. My iPhone 4 replaced my iPhone 3G, which was purchased in September of 2008. AT&T allowed me to "upgrade early" on both times.

I agree with you. AT&T will allow early upgrades on the next iPhone.

2/19/2012

I pre-ordered my iPhone 4 and got it on launch day, after having a 3G since launch, and am on a family plans with 3 lines totaling ~$150 a month. These dates all seem really random...seriously AT&T, what the hell?

Rec'd mine 2 days prior to launch, upgrade eligible 11/17/2011. Have a fam. plan w/2 iP4s. Her's isn't upgradeable until 7/2012, but I figured that since I bought it before Christmas.

Grrrr . . . :(

I betcha this will change the closer we get to the iP5! *Thinking positive*

Posted a while back, but I checked today and I moved up to 6/17/2011. *It's my positive thinking.*

Slightly off topic but one thing that has been lost in all of this AT&T vs. Verizon talk is that AT&T has generally been pretty generous in allowing a lot of us to upgrade early each time a new iphone comes out. I spent many years with Verizon and I was not able to upgrade my phone nearly as often as I have been with AT&T (yearly upgrades since I got my 3G). I'm not saying that I would stay with AT&T just because of their upgrade policy but it's certainly a factor in my decision since I'm one of those people who likes to have the latest and greatest. I wouldn't switch to Verizon right now anyway since there's no simultaneous voice and data but I would think AT&T would continue to offer us incentives to stay now that they have some iphone competition.
