so let me get this straight, i could have bought a 3GS before june 7th, got the unlimited plan ....and now still get the iPhone4 at upgrade price?? I would have done this in a heartbeat!

There are no ATT stores near my hotel, or an Apple store. It sucks that you can't preorder and pick it up at the ATT store on the 24th. :(

So have it sent to your home and it'll be waiting for you when you get there! Or can this not be done?

Because of an emergency, I purchased a 3GS on May 14 at an Apple store. When I read about ATT's offer, I immediately called Apple and they said they would honor ATT's policy. Just to be certain I went to the Apple store and the manager there confirmed it. He wrote on his business card that I was eligible to exchange my phone for iphone 4 and attached it to my receipt.

Awesome I shall make a trip to my local Apple Store tomorrow then!

Seriously? I cannot fathom the logic behind why anyone would pay that for a used phone. Contract free I suppose? I don't get it.

Now that 3Gs will no longer be in 16GB and 32GB varieties and only in 8GB they will be kinda rare now.

dropped new iphone in coffee

This is totally off topic but I am totally lost on here... sorry! I dropped my new iphone into a cup of coffee that was sitting on the table under my hands while I was texting. I freaked out but was abloe to take it apart and dry it. he only illeffects are a dark streak that is hardly noticable across the screen and my apps have no sound. Everyting else is ok. Just wondering if anyone had a clue as to how I might fix the sound on the app part of my phone or if anyone knows about how liquid effects an iphone long term. Yesterday I only had one ring tone that worked but today that has fixed itself. Does anyone think that the phone might have unseen damage that might manifest later on. Thanks..... :)

It does not add 2 years to whatever you have, it only extends your liability out to a full two years from the date of the new transaction. I don't think anyone would agree to adding two years to a contract they already had of 1.6 years. A 3.6 year contract makes no sense from an early upgrade. really.

Damn, I do not think paying $400 more for the iPhone 4, then paying an additional $18 to activate it, and finally being subject to a 2 year contract makes any sense to me. In short, if you're an existing customer and you're not eligible, you'll have to pay at least $699 + $18 and be subject to a 2 year contract. Now, I would be OK with paying the cost of the iPhone 4 and the activation fee but subjecting an existing customer to a 2 year contract as well is BS.
