"No Service Commitment. Min. $14.99/mo. Data plan required."

Those two sentences make my brain hurt.

When you add one of these to your order, a popup comes up and shows...

"Tablet or iPad orders require the purchase of an AT&T DataConnect Personal Data Plan. Plans are active for 30 days and automatically renew every 30 days unless you cancel service prior to the start of the 30-day renewal."

So, you can't order one of these w/out adding at least the 14.99 plan to the order. Of course, you can cancel this after the first month.

I think they just want to make sure you walk out of the store with a sim card, and a one month subscription to 3G. That way you might fall in love with the having access all the time, and you might keep the data plan after the month is up. Some people never turned on 3g on their iPads.

Just called my local AT&T store and sure enough they have the 16GB 3G for $429. I'm headed up there now to pick mine up. Sold my 16GB WIFI iPad 2 for $600. Hopefully Apple will make the iPad 3 a stronger upgrade.

I tried two Best Buy stores today and neither would match the $529 price but they offered me an open box one for $612 haha.

I also called an AT&T store and they said that the price was online only. I'll be trying a few other stores tomorrow in the Dallas area in hopes of finding a price match before just buying it online.

The price is not online only. I picked mine up from an AT&T store today.

It is online only, but the stores have the discretion whether to match it or not. Some will, some won't.

(I got a "will" on Friday, and walked out with a $529 64GB 3G.)

I almost got one from AT&T and then while browsing on ebay i found a used ipad 1 32gb wifi + 3g with 1 month of warranty left for $400 i went ahead and got it,it was in decent shape but was not working exactly right so i took it to an Apple store and since it was still under warranty gave me a brand new replacement so everything came out fantastic now i have a new ipad 32gb wifi 3g for $400! you can't beat that, and i purchased 1yr of applecare for $59 from ebay to extend the warranty so i am very happy,i played with ipad 2 while at the apple store and they seem so cheaply made and disposable next to the original,it seems so much more expensive and well made, plus i know a couple of people who got the ipad 2 on launch day and the already have dings and dents and the backs of them are all scratched just from regular use! i had a 16gb wifi ipad 1 that i sold a few mos ago that i had for almost 6 mos and it didn't have a scratch or dent on it,i had sold it planning on getting ipad 2 but after seeing it and knowing how it holds up i think i'll just wait for ipad 3 and i am very happy after the deal i got and it does everthing i need it to.

I know this sounds crazy, but decided to cancel my iPad 2 wifi 16 GB for $499 for the $529 iPad 3G 64GB. The two things I was hoping for out of iPad 2 were better screen and more memory for same price. Neither happened. My local walnut creek AT&T store honored the deal. I am pretty satisfied!

Has anyone who ordered one of these actually heard anything ? I got a confirmation email from AT&T but nothing else so far. Also, checking the order status on their site keeps telling me to check back.

I ordered twice since Friday and have not heard a peep from AT&T. Both order numbers turn up errors when trying to track them via AT&T's servers.

The store where I purchased mine didn't have to price match. The price rang up as listed on the website and the guy in the store even told me that the price dropped Friday. Guess it does depend on the store like you said though. It's a great price and I actually prefer the size of the iPad 1 over the 2.

Placed an order yesterday evening. Did get an email confirming my order. Just got another email that they have cancelled my order.

With these price cuts it looks to me as if the product is not going to be worth much in 6 months or so..as far as support for firmware updates, latest features and app support.

How to CANCEL ipad order?

I ordered iPad1 3G 64GB from AT&T site.

I changed my mind within an hour and I've been tryingn to cancel the order, but, I couldn't.

It doesn't recognize my order number.

Anyone successfully cancelled iPad order from AT&T Website?

Even tried on phone but couldn't...

Please, help.

Thanks in advance!!!

My order # finally shows that it is at least in the processing phase of the order.

I did the same as you. I called the number and had no problems canceling. I decided with iOS 5 around the corner, I wanted to have the maximum features since apples is known for leaving out stuff from older hardware.

I had the same success as a previous poster regarding in store purchase.
Picked up the 64gig 3G model 529+tax at AT&T store.
They didn't even try to get me to sign up for the data plan.

I ordered mine within an hour of the price dropping and after calling to check on the status they informed me that the 16gb model was on backorder and wasn't sure if they'd be getting anymore shipments in.

So, when you guys receive your iPad, let me know if you can actually go in and view your Cellular account information.

I couldn't on mine. AT&T's answer was because these were considered "postpaid" accounts. They really didn't know how to cancel those and switch it over to a prepaid account. They are in the process of canceling the AT&T service and I'll have to go to an AT&T store to pick up a new SIM.

The message I receive is "Your account type does not support the view account feature. (H5006)"

I still receive the same error message.

Today I went to the AT&T brick and mortar. They gave me a new sim card, canceled my old account. The iPad support number told me if I was seeing this message that I had a bad sim card and needed a new one. Said sometimes it happens.

The AT&T special iPad support desk told the store when they called for additional help that part of the AT&T system was down this weekend and to wait a couple of hours.

I went back home and I called the AT&T activation desk and signed up for a new agreement with my new sim card.

The iPad recognizes the AT&T network again but I still get the same error message!

We need to be able to start and stop our plans from our iPad and look up other information. Right now i can't do that.
