I'm a little confused about this.

My 32GB 3Gs died with water damage a couple weeks ago. AT&T wanted me to buy a new phone, but apple sold me a refurb at $200 at the genius bar.

If I had this plan, I would have paid AT&T $14 per month and $200 deductible?

Will Apple stop selling the $200 refurbs?

Personally, I'll stick with my personal articles policy via State Farm for which I pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $60 annually for both my 3Gs and my wife's 3G.

Is that legal? I thought for you to successfully get your cash back on a claim you had to prove it stolen? And once you file a claim, doesn't your $60 annually become something like $90 - $120 annually all of a sudden?

Calm down. The iPhone insurance isn't required. It's an added service. If you don't want it, you don't pay for it.

Not a big deal.

I was/am calm, And yes it is a big deal.

I just think its retarded that you have to pay a monthly fee ontop of paying a deductible as well.

I am glad i do not own a iPhone ( cant stand AT&T) if and when they have it on another service then i might bite.

A monthly fee should be all you have to pay. or just pay a deductible if your iPhone bites the bullet not both.

I see AT&T getting more money hungry every year. You Pay AT&T a monthly fee to have another company replace the phone for a deductible, thats just wrong by any standards.

Your monthly bill ($100+, and then the protection plan $14 a month, plus what ever else charges AT&T plan to throw your way) should be enough to just issue you a replacement. From this they have to face people just dropping them altogether and go to a different company that wont put it to you in both holes.

Many Cell providers only have you pay a deductible (price depends on the phone) if your phone eats it. not a fee and a deductible.

Waaaaaa I have an option to insure my phone, with no obligation, and its too expensive. Its not good enough. I could buy a new one. ****. If you don't think its worth it, don't buy it. Quit whining you f****** bitches. ATT's deductible is way to high, but BB's plan isn't too bad, 12.99/ mo, anything other than lost of theft covered, sounds good to me.

ok then pay the monthly fee to AT&T and then be forced to pay the deductible (which happens to be close to the price you payed for your phone when you got the service in the first place) what can you not see that's wrong with this.

Its nice to have the option (that should have been available since they had the iPhone). you should not have to pay both a monthly fee and a deductible at the same time. If you really want to boil the numbers you are paying a crap load more for the replacement then just buying a brand new iPhone yourself.

go ahead and buy into the crap they are trying to trick you into believing. With allot of other Cell companies all you have to do is pay a deductible (which is only a fraction of the price of the phone) with no added monthly fee.

Insane!

You've got to have a lot of money to be able to throw that much down the drain.
Who in their right mind would pay that much to insure a phone?
Be aware that if you put the phone on your home owner policy and make a claim, three claims and the insurance company cancels your policy.
I would have loved to get an iPhone, but it's just to expensive.

Apple already includes a 1 year warranty (3 years with applecare) and they replace damaged phones (water, hammer to the iphone, ect..) for the same price as the iPhone with 2 year agreement $99/199. This has happen to me twice.

AT&T's insurance would only be worth anything if your iPhone was stolen. Your better off saying screw the insurance, get a family plan and add another line for $10/month and go buy a new iPhone for $199. You would be spending about the same price with taxes but getting an additional line. You could then pickup a cheap phone off ebay to use as a backup.

$13.99 = Rip Off Report.

state farm no longer does phone insurance

just called my state farm rep and she told me that they stopped doing phone insurance 6 months ago. grrr. she did say that if my phone was stolen it would still be covered under my renters insurance but the deductable would still apply. As 500$ is the lowest deductable they offer it wouldn't be worth it.

Think I'll stick to AppleCare and paying 199$ if I have an out of warranty issue.

With a phone made of glass apple care is not worth the paper it's written on!

Square trade on the other hand covers damage and is just as long as apple care and is less money!

Use slickphone4 and you will receive 35% off!
Now that's a deal!
