DON'T DO IT!!!!! IF you live in So Cal. Don't. I got SCREWED. I had a grandfathered account, was with At&T since cellphones were invented and I lost all of it transferring to T-Mobile. I recently switched to take advantage of their 3 Lines for $100 (no taxes or fees) which I thought was an AMAZING deal. Well, my data speeds went from 60mbps to 1mbps. No joke. I couldn't make calls and the internet was butt ass slow. You-tube? nope didn't work. I went to my local store to complain and while I was in the store I tested the data. It leaped to 55+mbps! I told the guy you must have a repeater in the building and he adamantly denied it. I literally stepped outside of the store and my data dropped to 12mbps. 100ft from there, 1mbps. They are shady MFr's. Needless to say, I went back to AT&T and now pay more than what I was paying before AND I lost my unlimited data plan. Worst mistake ever. DON'T DO IT.

How did you lose your unlimited data plan where AT&T and every carrier in the US is offering unlimited data now?
You're too dramatic...

Honestly feels like one of the best changes of service providers I've ever had. Saving a ton of money and the promotions keep coming.

I agree if anything the unlimited data plan is now better than before since you get tethering as well now and you can add unlimited data to say an iPad for only $20 more.

We live in NYC. Have been on AT&T since the original iPhone came out. Switched to T-Mobile this past March and have no regrets. We now pay $80 a month for unlimited data and HD streaming along with 10 GB of tethering for 3 lines. We used to pay $170 a month with AT&T for 30GB of shared data for two lines.

No regrets whatsoever and we've also traveled to Seattle and haven't had any issues. Curious what'll happen when we do go to a non-Metro area. But don't anticipate being there for too long.
Do you reception in office buildings and hi rises

I live in Nicholasville, Ky a small town right outside of Lexington,Ky.

My speeds are ridiculously fast. I came from sprint where I was getting an average of 20 down and 6 up...

I'm averaging 65 down and 12-15 up now.. this is in Kentucky.

I think that’s pretty good for a carrier that people are trying to call “horrible”

Cricket is better then T-Mobile??? Lmao

I have been with AT&T for I'd say the better part of 6-7 years. Never had any issues with them, got a decent discount through my employer and the monthly bill was relatively cheap since I had my mom on my plan.

My mom has since ported her number to Verizon, so I was doing some cost analysis to see what data plan I should downgrade to (had 10GB that were shared). So I ultimately changed my plan to 6GB which should be enough considering my past usage. I primarily stream audio, check Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, WhatsApp, iMessage and emails throughout the day. Plus, I'm connected to my work wifi, so I'm really only using cellular data to/from work and on the weekends.

Anyway, I have been considering switching to T-Mobile One to save some money each month. So my main question is for those of you who have switched from AT&T, do you have any regrets? Or are you generally happy that you switched?

I plan on visiting a local T-Mobile store this weekend to get a SIM card for my unlocked SE to test out their network around my area since that will be the main factor in if I ultimately switch or not. But I still would love to hear from those of you who switched what your thoughts are.

I definitely regret switching to T-Mobile. I recently switched because my data usage was being decreased once I hit my limit. In order for me to get Unlimited data I had to sign up with their DirectTV service which was impossible because it isn't offered in my area. So, I did the switch to T-mobile...BIG MISTAKE. The problem began when I arrived at work and I didn't have cell service. It lasted 2 weeks until I got fed up and called T-Mobile. They sent me a Personal Cell Spot device that they tried to charge me for but I wasn't about to pay extra for a device that was supposed to help my device get reception. They waived the fees and I set up the device which does not work. So I still don't have service. In addition to that, I rented a cabin for my friends and I to take a vacation. Everyone that had T-Mobile didn't have service, but my friend who had AT&T had service. Not having service was not an issue, I just wanted to take photos and upload them to my snap since I had wifi at my cabin. Needless to say my phone failed to connect to the Wifi and it didn't upload any of my photos. So what happened at the cabin stayed at the cabin. To top it off, I had to map my way home to a McDonalds just so I can get wifi to get online to get an offline map to get home. It has been one issue after another. Now I am making calls and sending over wifi at home and T-Mobile is a mile from my apartment. I live in the city near Dallas. I want to switch back to AT&T so bad. I should have never left. At&t PLEASE TAKE ME BACK!

Do you have just 1 line or multiple lines? I am looking to switch from my unlimited Grandfathered AT&T plan to either TMobile or Cricket.

T-Mobile is terrible for me. On the device of some friends and to many people here I switch to cricket and have been very happy.

Kids cricket a try. I think you'll be satisfied. If you do decide to give them a try it's only a one month commitment. If you do get them to try send me a PM so I can send you my info and get the referral.

Did you check with anyone about coverage before you switched? Sensorly, coverage maps, people with T-Mobile in your area, etc?

Your phone will connect to WiFi at McDonalds and at home but not your cabin? Sounds more like an issue with your router or your cabin's ISP (or perhaphs your phone) versus being T-Mobile's fault.

Lastly, I know of the Cellspot you speak, but am curious. Did they send you the router, the booster or the 4G/LTE device?

The router wouldn't help you, it doesn't broadcast signal. The booster simply takes weak signal and rebroadcasts it. So if there's no signal at your work already the booster wouldn't help.

So that leaves the 4G/LTE Cellspot which plugs in to your router and broadcasts a 4G and LTE signal using your network as backhaul to T-Mobile's network. If that is the device you got then we have to assume you had admin access to the network at work. Because the 4G/LTE Cellspot requires certain ports be opened in the router. If they aren't, it doesn't work.

Lastly, why would you plead for AT&T to take you back? Did you leave and not pay your bill? Because otherwise I don't see why they wouldn't.

You can't get the cell spot to work and that's T-Mobiles fault. The wifi at the cabin didn't work or the phone failed to connect to wifi again T-Mobiles fault? so the pictures that you took disappear from your phone if there's no wifi? Doesn't make sense.
Every life problem for you seems to be a T-Mobile failure:D

Only downside for me personally is the discount program on AT&T. I have 30% off on my grandfathered unlimited plan but would lose it on the newer Unlimited Plan that includes hotspot. I tried out T-Mobile a few years ago and coverage was iffy in my area unfortunately. May give them another shot though.

T-Mobile has the fastest network. Period.
For me in my area here in Denver Colorado. T-Mobile is the only dependable carrier.

Back in 2007, I switched to AT&T with the first iPhone. I came from Sprint and had to suddenly deal with the fact that I could not make calls or have any data connection at my home. Once T-Mobile announced with the 3Gs that they would be supporting the iPhone, I bailed out on my AT&T contract and switched to T-Mobile and I haven't looked back. I get to make calls and have LTE at my home now.

I did try AT&T once again this past January and to this day, I still can not make calls or get a data connection at my home. Even driving around within a few miles, the connection is weak. Last week, my iPhone drained from 70%-14% in four hrs because the phone is constantly searching for a reliable signal. I'm cancelling the AT&T line once again after this period.

On T-Mobile, taking my iPhone to work, after 8 hrs, the phone is never below 90% after starting out at 100.

T-Mobile will always be #1 for me. No regrets ever.

Originally, none at all. Switched over about 14 months ago. However, I moved six months ago. I moved just blocks away, and am in a dead zone. No coverage at all. This is in the middle of the city. When I go to work in a busy downtown area, I get no coverage indoors.seeing as I spend most of my time at home or work, this is a problem. I use wifi calling, but my work wifi is much slower than T-Mobile's LTE.

I love having unlimited data and fast LTE (where I have coverage) for $70 each month (including taxes), and T-Mobile Tuesdays has good deals for free sometimes. But I'm thinking of switching when the new models come out because the dead spots are an issue.

Switched to tmo in November last year, best decision ever. Paying $100 flat for 2 phones and an iPad. My only issue was visiting my family in rural Louisiana with my formerly att iPhone 6 and had no service. Switched to 6s and all was good.

Long ago I tried T-Mo but had to go outside to get service. Been with AT&T ever since and could not be more happy.

You didn't try hard enough! :D

You actually have to reach out your hands and grab the signal and then push it in to the phone antenna with your thumbs.

Works better that way when you do it right. :D

I think I'm going to try TM again. I tried TM in 2016 and it was very, very fast. But there were a couple dead zones for calling which cause a problem with me since I use my phone for many biz related calls while on the move in the area. I have Verizon now which is very good for calls..BUT I have noticed a slow down in data since this unlimited plan introduction. VZ used to be very fast all the time. There have been rumors the network has slowed on purpose with unlimited and I tend to believe it. Nothing else has changed.

My reason for a potential change would not be to save money...but if it's a bonus then sure I will take it. My priority is to have the best service all the time. That means call quality AND fast data. According to Rootmetrics in my area TM is the winner slightly above VZ. Last testing TM and VZ were tied. So, I'm thinking maybe those dead zones have changed...

In a post that was made today, August 3 2017. T-Mobile looks is still king in the fastest carrier category over Verizon and AT&T: http://www.droid-life.com/2017/08/03/fastest-wireless-carrier-speed-verizon-tmobile/

Fastest carrier may not mean "best coverage" depending on your area, but where it is, it is fastest.
Fastest only really matters if the competition is not "fast enough". The 50 or so MBPS I pull down on Verizon is plenty fast for internet browsing on a phone, and I get reception indoors too :)

Yea, all those cheaper prices and great deal from T-Mobile and Sprint are there to hide the fact that their networks aren't as good. Switch back as soon as you can.

Kind of off topic, if I do the switch and bring over at&t iPhone to T-Mobile will it work if the phone is still locked my at&t since it's still under contract? I know T-Mobile can pay off your phone if u do the switch but the unlocking is still to be done by at&t right? Why would they do that if I already switched carrier.

I was for years on T-Mo before I switched to ATT because of the iPhone. Had terrible reception at home, work and even when I moved to different places for work (had to use the ATT cell spot tower). My wife stayed all the time on T-Mo and never had a problem. Switched back to T-Mo, love the perks, enjoy the unlimited data, speed, reception and especially now the bill: 3 lines for $100, but since 2 lines usually use less than 2GB, the bill is $80 per month. That about $30 less for what I paid with ATT for 5GB (back in the day).

So, T-Mo works well for me, but before you want to switch, check if the coverage works at the places you are the most.
