Kind of off topic, if I do the switch and bring over at&t iPhone to T-Mobile will it work if the phone is still locked my at&t since it's still under contract? I know T-Mobile can pay off your phone if u do the switch but the unlocking is still to be done by at&t right? Why would they do that if I already switched carrier.

If you switch and pay off the phone and any fees or service charges you owe to AT&T then they will unlock it.
If you owe money on the phone or any outstanding balance to them they will not unlock till it's paid up.

T-Mobile has the fastest network. Period.
The above opinion is true but TMobile has the worst coverage in the US and worst signal issues inside building including elevator, basement, etc. that is why T-Mobile could give a good deal and a lot of promotions to entice people and customer to compensate any downsides of their horrible network coverage. Fastest speed is not enough if the coverage is not.

When I planned to join T-Mobile, the first question I was asked was where I lived and my zip code to ensure their coverage was in my city. After 1 year experiencing bad signals and coverage issues, I ditched T-Mobile.

I've never had good experiences with AT&T. I've had cellular service, phone, internet, and u-verse and I had nothing but bad experiences with them.

I switched my cell service from AT&T to a regional provider several years ago and it was one of the best moves I ever made. I pay less now than I did with decent corporate discount with AT&T. Plus I have unlimited audio streaming, which is imperative to me.

How did you come up with your claims that Tmobile has the worst coverage and a horrible network? From personal experience in your own local area?
Every place in the US is not the same, there's bad and good areas for every carrier.
If something doesnt work for your own personal needs or use then offcourse switch to something that does.
Generalizing as you did above is false.

As of June 30 2017 T-Mobile Beats Verizon In Terms Of Speed, Availability:

Note the following:

It is important to point out that OpenSignal defines availability as how often the subscribers manage to get LTE signal on the carrier’s network, rather than the amount of area where signals are available.

This is the fastest I have ever gotten on ANY network.

Taken at the Olive Garden at Desert Sky Mall in Phoenix, AZ.

It's relevant to me because this is one of those places I infrequently visit that Sprint dominates. But the last time I did a speed test on Sprint there it was only 50 down. So NOW, not only is T-Mobile beating Sprint for me in the places I am at (which is why I ported to them in 2015), T-Mobile is ALSO beating Sprint in the places I am not often at.

All the way around T-Mobile works for me.

EDIT: The UPLOAD speed on this test is more than DOUBLE what Sprint gave me for DOWNLOAD in a lot of places in PHX.

Off topic but ATT just texted me and said that until the 17th of September they were cancelling all overage limits on talk, text and data due to Irma. They did the same in with Mathew, it was my only contact with the outside world as I lost power for 5 days. Streamed the news on my 7+ all night long. Was a life saver, mentally.

I will stay with ATT.

All carriers do this, this isn't something exclusive to AT&T.

There was a T-Mob customer on reddit yesterday. He called to demand unlimited because of Irma (he lives in Florida). He was told that it's not being offered yet, so he continued to demand it with a threat to leave T-Mobile.

They gave it to him.

Glad AT&T has been good to you in this way. Just not happy with this T-Mob customer's entitlement attitude.

I should call and demand free healthcare, housing and food stamps :D

I left T-Mobile because of the IUP debacle I've gone through for the past two years. To me, it's absolutely ridiculous that they cannot get their back-end activation systems compatible with Apple, when VZW, ATT and Sprint easily can. The activation process in store is completely broken, and not being able to preorder a phone for T-Mobile through IUP online is a major inconvenience.

They also get shafted hard when it comes to unit allotment at Apple Stores around launch time, at least at all stores in my state.

Service was fine for me, but I stick to mostly urban areas. In the boonies, good luck with it. Two cans and a string is more reliable there.

T Mobile in metro Atlanta is fast, reliable, and works well even at peak times. The only thing I do not like about t Mobile is their website or app. It is hard to use and seems archaic. That being said I love them and have been a customer for 20 years.
