you should be able to change it if you got it from Apple. But if you got all three phones in same order, for your parents also, might be wise to not change it for their sake ;)

They're on three different orders through Apple. I had called Apple earlier and said there was nothing they could do, that since I ordered on an AT&T installment plan that I actually ordered from AT&T (?????), which made no sense to me, but I didn't feel like arguing with the guy.

im gonna find, buy + trade in an iPhone 8 in great shape paid off

I want to hold onto my SE 2020 :D its a gem feels like a waste to give it back since I got such a good deal on it even though this too is a great deal($800 off over 30 months)
Says needs to be worth $95. Must mean value with any dents and etc.
Swappa has $225. Not sure worth troubles unless keep for the 30 months. Would hate to trade in SE2020 too but if never used. No benefit keeping.

hmmm

I dont think that would impact it. and the phone Is definitely coming from apple not att lol that is screwy- but maybe having different orders to different addresses could present a problem

at face value, I dont think changing it to a different address would be a problem even with multiple orders. might want to try again - cant hurt.

yeah as long as you get a good condition one should be fine

I would get one where you can see photos. not a bulk listing refurbished one, its probably beat to hell.

if they dont take it you could probably still resell the phone locally for what you paid on ebay or close to it. not much risk. especially getting it traded in store and evaluated by a human being so theres a record.

trading se2020 isn't the end of the world for people that dont care about getting rid of that phone but I think its really nice. a repackaged iPhone 11. so feels a bit bittersweet

Will this be available on iPhone 12 Mini and/or iPhone 12 Pro Max?

So I get that the trade-in value is issued in monthly bill credits, so obviously this is a great deal if you plan on keeping the phone and service for the full 30 months...but what happens if you want to upgrade in one or two years?

You pay off the balance on this years phone and the credits stop.

You can upgrade with AT&T after paid 50% of device or PIF anytime forfeiting remaining credits. So the longer you keep the better. Might not be the best deal if wanting new device after 12 months. Depends on what trade in too.

I'd say if you want a newer phone before the 30 months is up, just buy that new one outright and sell the 12 with transparency its still on payments on an account in good standing. not a biggy.

I've sold a contract 6s plus years ago, that the guy didnt really care about. unlocked is an easier sell but some people really dont mind.

Yep. I was tempted by this deal but the 30 months thing is a way to get you. I’m thinking about join iUP since I do get tempted to get phones every year, and that way I’m not forced into Unlmited.

im the perfect candidate for this deal since I have never been incentivized to move from ATT. 30 months is nothing in terms of changing my habits.

and I havent done iUP, I always buy outright in general or, The one-off time, I got X through loyalty for $550 at launch with a 2 year contract. I traded it into apple the next year for a $525 I believe (or $500, but it think $525) gift card I still havent used

Only phones I've bought outright have been 7+ and XR. Oh and SE 2020 but I got the 128gb for $250 through Walmart and paid it off right away while retaining that sweet discount off MSRP. Its unlocked.

XR was 'subsidized' by trading in that 7+ for $285 off.

everything else was in the golden contract subsidy days.

Would someone be able to buy an iPhone 12, trade in an eligible phone, and then use the new iPhone 12 on Verizon with a sim swap? The phone number used to buy the phone will still be active on art using a different phone.

This won’t work. When you finance a phone with ATT they sim lock the phone to ATT. So you would be able to use the new iPhone 12 on another ATT account, but not on a Verizon account.

Once the phone is paid off you can have the phone unlocked and use it with verizon, but if you pay it off early then you lose the credits.

Yeah I’ve always bought outright too, however I always do get AC+ with my phones and selling them can be a pain in the behind, so that’s what made me interested in iUP.

I made sweet moves earlier this year, got the Se2020 and netted $250 in profit too after tax after selling my XR

Speaking of loyalty. Might give them call. Verizon offering GC to switch. $250

Nice!! idk, I may weigh my options on the AT&T offer too, it’s a really good deal and since I’m trading in my 11 Pro for the mini, I’ll probably end up paying $50 for the 128. Only downfall is having to switch over to unlimited.

The question is, If I decide to buy iPhone 13 next Oct, will I continue getting $26.66 credit or will I loose my ATT monthly credit? If so than from the surface the option to trade with Apple would be a better deal?

The question is more of what you plan to do with the old phone. You can buy an iPhone 13 next year and use it on your existing line and you will continue paying for the iPhone 12 and getting the credit for the iPhone 12. You would need to buy the iPhone 13 outright though. You wouldn’t be able to finance it with ATT because you already have an active finance plan for the iPhone 12. The problem is that you wouldn’t be able to sell or trade in the iPhone 12 because it’s financed. Even if you try to trade it in to apple or a third party company they can use the phone’s IMEI number to see if it’s financed and they will refuse the trade in. About the only thing you could do with it would be to give or sell it to a friend or family member who didn’t care that you still had it financed.

I don't understand this "get you" mentality.
Why not think about it as rewarding loyalty?
If you're someone that upgrades every year then don't take the deal. Simple.
No one is forcing you into anything.

It was just my opinion... geez. Relax. And besides, having to keep your phone on your plan for 30 months isn’t “getting you” to stay with them?

So what happens when you want to upgrade lets say in 24 months, and want to sell the old phone but buy a new phone paid in full? Im sure AT&T would still unlock the phone for you to sell it as long as the new phone is used on the same line and/or the line remains active.

You would only lose the credits if you canceled the line and paid the balance.

FYI this plan requires you to ship the phone to the AT&T Billing address, which sucks since thats two hours away for me. Im trying to get Apple to change it to store pickup since I cant place another order with this discount, and dont want to cancel this order and lose the 23rd delivery date.

It will cost be $260 to payoff my XS. Does it make sense to do that so I can get $800 in credit? Am I missing something? Phone is in excellent condition so no issues there.
That's exactly what I did for a line in our account today with a XS. Got down to $10/mo for AT&T Next with the $800 credit.

Could upgrade with AT&T if pay 50% of device. Works out to about 15 months with the credits. They would take ip12 back.
