Will they let you trade one in even though you've already bought your new phone?
Like a retroactive trade-in.
They told me that I had 7 days from the date that the phone was delivered to bring it in for trade-in, so it depends how long you've had it. It's worth a try, though.

I just took mine to the AT&T store rather than dealing with the shipping...took about 5 minutes to get get my promo card, which I just had them apply to my account.
Do you guys have any updates? Have you received the promo card? Oh, when did you mail in your old phones?
On the status website, mine still shows DEVICE RECEIVED. But I have not received the rebate yet. I mailed mine in on September 22.
I traded a 4S. I went to my local AT&T store just before 6/6+ launch day to inquire about the trade-in, and was told that if I did it in the store I had to use the promotion card to buy 6/6+ accessories in the store. Utter BS.
So I went online, submitted the trade-in request, printed out the shipping label and sent it off (beginning of October).
I wasn't until the next day that I realized I had no way of tracking the phone's progress. I got no trade-in confirmation email with a reference number, no tracking number, nothing.
About a week later I received a padded envelope and mailing label from AT&T. What? I had already printed one from the website!
I called AT&T to try to get an update but they couldn't find anything.
I thought the phone was lost, but 3 weeks after sending it in I got a $200 promotion card from AT&T in the mail!
Long story short: hang in there if you have had no communication from AT&T regarding your submitted trade-in. They are most likely still working on it.
So I went online, submitted the trade-in request, printed out the shipping label and sent it off (beginning of October).

I got this from AT&T support after emailing them every couple of days for the past 2 weeks.
"Unfortunately, it appears your device never arrived at our warehouse.
Since we do not have the device, we are not able to pay you the full amount for your trade in. However, I have discussed the matter with my manager and we can offer you half ($100.00) of your quoted value. If your device is received at any time, you will receive the remainder of your quote value.
I hope this is an agreeable resolution to this unfortunate situation."

it's been a month already for you? this is bad... wonder if ATT just want to steal our phones
I don't know if that was their original intent but it seems like this program was set up to make it pretty easy for them to "misplace" a **** load of phones.
Apple needs to come up with a way to keep Find My iPhone on all the way through a transaction like this so we could track the phone and lock it so AT&T doesn't find it, refurbish it and turn around and sell it. I'm SURE I'm not the only one this has happened to. When you have to wipe you phone and turn off Find My iPhone it makes it easy to say "we never got it."
I traded in my iPhone 4 in store last month and received $200 credit instantly. Paid my att Bill with it.
Update! after 17 calendar days, it is now showing "Device Received!" it says trade in in process. will see how it goes

Please post what they do. I would rather do that than mail in my phone since it is in perfect condition no scratches etc. and you get no kind of proof you mailed it to them.
Ill let you know what happens. Im expecting delivery of my iPhone 6 Plus today. I will probably try the AT&T corporate store either Sunday or Monday.

I went to an AT&T corporate store armed with e-mails proving when I ordered my iPhone 6+ (Sept 12th), emails showing the coupon code to return my phone, etc. to prove that I should get the $200 coupon code. I was ready to put up a fight for it.
The women that talked to, didnt even look at the e-mails etc, she gave me the $200 coupon. All I did was tell her that I ordered our phones on Sept 12th and we should get the $200 for our two iPhone 4. She looked up our AT&T account to confirm and that was it. It was very painless.
