Boy are you right! I worked in state goverment and international business and I never saw a more poorly run outfit in my life! It took multiple trips to a local AT&T outlet and numerous calls just to switch my cell from a postpaid to a prepaid. After FINALLY succeeding, I switched to Consumer Cellular, which uses the AT&T network and is much cheaper and has competent support people.

Maybe it depends on which market your in, but I put in my zip code and all my locals are available, though only one of the two RSNs in the DC area is available. So that's a hard pass for me—it's the only reason I still have cable.

Yes it seems that you're right, they do have locals in my area as well. It's really the pricing that's putting me off, the first year pricing is more than I pay with U-verse already - the second year pricing is flat-out insane.

from what I read elsewhere, there is NO 4K stream.
And I have to wonder, is the DVR function really just On Demand? (commercials inserted, no skips...)

I was a beta tester with that box. Horrendous experience. Forces everything to HDR, and no way to turn it off. SDR material look overblown, which unfortunately is every channel. The worst designed box i have ever experienced.

WTF??? This cost more than my cable plan did (before I cut the cord)... only with far fewer channels.

I was an att u-verse customer for a few years:
24 Mbps internet(shared between all tv's and computer-so usually 14 Mbps
U-verse-which I really liked.

I watched as they laid down fiber in my neighborhood and wanted to switch to fiber.

They came out and wanted to drill all new holes in my brick home even though I had good connections already!! :(

I said no way and called Xfinity-which has been better.

Soon after I canceled my cell service with att too. Screw you att-they don't give a crap.

I hate AT&T but their Gigapower internet has been insanely good for me. I pay for 1 Gbps up/down and typically pull about 940/930. If their tv was anywhere near as reliable, I'd give it a shot. I had the old DirectTV Now (or whatever it was called) and it buffered all the time, even on my gigabit internet. Doubt I'd give them another try at this point.
I cancelled my DirecTV last year and tried the ATT TV Now app, and it sucks so very much. Can't rewind or even pause reliably. Signed up for YouTube TV and holy crap is it so much better. Seamlessly watch from device to device to device. The only advantage I can see with ATT TV is that it has HBO, which YouTube TV does not. But the interface is so awful and the quality is soooo bad that it's not even worth it.

If it’s anything like AT&T TV Now, the DVR will be horrible.
This is AT&T TV Now...just preloaded on to a STB.

Let's review:
  1. Android box - no thanks
  2. Google Assistant - no thanks
Remember, with Android and Google in the mix, you're the product, not the customer.
You're worried about Google...on an AT&T product? 🤣🤣

yeah, then the DVR will randomly miss recordings, will continuously record reruns even though you tell it to only record new programs, and will record the spanish version of HBO shows even though you tell it to record the english version. And there will be no simple interface to see all of the programs you have asked to record, and you will only see what's going to record in the next day or two.

So, yeah, it will suck in that case.

YouTube TV is great for me. I only use it during college football season though. I have Netflix (T-Mobile pays this), Hulu/ESPN+/Disney bundle, and Amazon Prime. I also pay for YouTube Premium to get rid of ads. I couldn't YouTube without it now.

It's crazy how opposite exeriences happen depending on area. I had AT&T Gigapower and it was the worst Internet of all time. They must have been at my house 6 different times, always to tell me my wiring and line are "perfect" and there are zero issues. I told them it has to be the station outside my house and it was like an act of God for engineering to come look at the central station. "Not enough people complain" for them to come do it.

They told me they don't guarantee WiFi and only guaranteed hard wired connection, which I still had issues with in the testing I did even while connected with a network cable.

I 100% know I had a problem because in timed games like Chess, I was losing time every move because of the intermittent issue and lag. I also did tracert and ping tests and would constantly get time outs and long latency. I showed them this and I might as well have been speaking Greek.

I always tested good internet speeds, but my issue was latency and the connection dropping. Replaced my equipment multiple times too.

I switched to Spectrum and only have 400mbps down now, but consistently get 500mbps and it is PERFECT. Consistent, no lag, and my latency is cut in half. I'm also paying $39.99/month with Spectrum versus $70/month with ATT.
I've had to have a modem replaced a few times but they were always quick to fix it and didn't put up an argument about anything. It's decently priced too. I think I paid $80/month the first year and it's stayed at $90/month (Which they told me upfront) since. I was at the mall a while back and Spectrum told me I was paying too much, then proceeded to quote me $114.00 for the same thing... and followed it up by trying to push forward with signing me up.. LOL. I was like, "You know that's a lot more than I already pay for the same exact thing, right?" lol.

They’ll get people who don’t read the contract. All they'll see is the initial cost. After 12 months when their bill doubles it's too late because they're trapped in a contract. 😂

Enjoy the same experience you get with cable via streaming! Introductory fees, two-year commitments, required hardware boxes, and the price of cable TV. Glad we could cut all the overhead on their side without any noticeable reduction of costs on the consumer side.

i have their fiber internet (stellar). I had AT&T Now, but just dropped it for Hulu. They wouldn’t bundle and kept raising prices.

I don’t know why I’d consider a solution that requires another box.

I had minimal buffering most of the time but their DVR was lousy and you couldn’t pause live tv.

I have an occasional hiccup with Hulu entering the app where I get a spinning wheel and the only way to fix it is to reboot Apple TV.

ATT&T Now was good in the early days but yeah, the price more than doubled over 12 months. Now we know why: they're trying to get the cable business model applied to streaming and really want everyone to leave ATT&T Now. Their "Go Big" plan is gone for the more expensive plans that have far fewer channels.

So it's the same as DirecTV Satellite Service - the same prices, packages, and contract, but you get less than with DirecTV. No RSNs in the Philly market and no NESN in the Boston Market. And internet required on top of that all. No thanks

I’m sure AT&T’s 1.5mb DSL which is all that’s offered where i live would handle this well right?
