i've had my iphone for 14 months - it has not dropped a single call here in europe.

during two visits to the US this year (NY & SF) i had constant problems with dropped calls and voice clarity etc.

to me this indicates a network problem, rather than a device problem.

lost a $1800 client because of crappy AT&T service

To those who say they might miss an important call during the protest, consider this....

A client called back in October and left a voice mail to let me know she wanted to hire me to photograph her wedding, $1800. But Att failed to deliver that voice mail AND 7 OTHERS for an entire month! I actually didnt receive it until TWO DAYS after her wedding! No missed call notices or anything! I'm not the only one this has happened too, either.

And before you say dont rely on a cell phone for your business, In my particular set of circumstances (to long to go into here) I have too.

Switching to Verizon and the Droid in January.

your phone is broken? idk never happened to me. you jailbroken and install somthing?

AT&T had a flawed model to begin with. Unlimited data for $20 a month is totally unrealistic with the amount of data people are using and that consumption will only skyrocket upwards. Its their own fault they needed to set a data cap on their plan to something that would be unlimited to a normal user. Rogers has a 6gb cap on some plans and its totally fine, and at least that stops people from tethering and using a ton of data on their unlimited plan...oh wait...they still don't have tethering in the US do they LOL

This is America, Jack! We pay for UNLIMITED plans and don't want caps placed on UNLIMITED plans (that means "without limits"!!) A cap is NOT "totally fine" if you're paying for UNLIMITED! If we wanted caps on stuff we'd move to Canada and pay for caps.

The nerve of some people to say it's "totally fine" for businesses or the gov't to treat us like we're 8 yrs old... limiting what we've paid for and what they've promised. AT&T needs to improve or there will be a "giant sucking sound" towards a competitor when either the iPhone is associated with another carrier or when the iPhone is no longer the greatest thing since sliced bread.

AT&T is right. Pure and simple. You may have problems with their network (as do I) but people need the network to be working for emergencies, critical emails, etc.. This will serve no purpose.

except for the fact that AT&T are pigs and don't give a **** about those people. If you think they do, I have a bridge to sell you.

Bravo - this is exemplary.
Instead of the moaning and complaining like so many others here, you are moving to a new device on another network.
Yours is one of the few positive posts in this thread's sea of negativity and moaning. Thank you.

To all those who want to join in 'bringing att to its knees': what positive result do you expect???? or is it just the childish desire to be involved in something "naughty"?

you are unhappy with att? move to another network!

Dumb Move..

This is stupidity! Agreed AT&T network sucks, but hey, no other network has to manage the popularity of the iPhone cult! They are working on it. People just don't realize that by this so-called Operation Chokehold, they could very well bring down the AT&T network. Which, in turn, will be their own fault! The common man will suffer. Why are these people so dumb?

UNLIMITED doesn't mean totally unlimited. In almost every country, there is a limit to these UNLIMITED plans. Usually, that limit is quite big, so people don't notice. That's why you must always read the fine print.

I'm not really one to join a "take down a company" campaign, but this is one that I actually feel is justified.

And how justified will you feel if someone loses their life because YOU participated in "taking down" at&t and that 911 call didn't go through. Fakesteve posted an email from a concerned user who apparently has a disabled family member and is afraid of something like that actually happening. Fakesteve blew it off. Will you laugh too at the tragedy?

I agree that AT&T needs to update their network (which I know they're already in the process of doing), but this is a terrible way to execute that message to them.

Gosh folks I'd love to join in on the fun, but...guess what?!

I don't get 3G service at my house let alone Edge.

Bummer.

I would love to be a part of this, but I have a final from 3-5...

And it would suck if someone's emergency call couldn't get through.

So if it would suck if someone's emergency call couldn't get through, why do you want to be a part of it? Do you want to help contribute to someone's death because they couldn't reach 911 in time?

LOL, you right wing nuts have resorted to pulling the socialism card for a CELL PHONE PLAN? This has nothing to do with socialism or capitalism, and nowhere in the Constitution does it guarantee the right to unlimited data plans. Get over yourselves, not everything is an evil liberal big government conspiracy.

Some might say that this is the the very nature of America and its capitalism. ("There's a Sucker Born Every Minute")

And if you're wondering why you are being "treated like an 8 yr old".... maybe it's because you sound just like an 8 year old? stomping your feet and sobbing because a big capitalist corp took your money away. That is their purpose. what will complain about next? your investment in sea-monkeys?

While we're at it, let's all turn on all our electrical appliances at the same time on Friday. Show those fat cats running the electrical grid who's boss!

This is about as intelligent and mature as eight teens deciding to drive 35 mph side-by-side on a freeway during rush hour to show that traffic sucks. People already knew about the problems before, and those bungholes are just going to make it worse for people who have nothing to do with it being that way.

The ones on this board or the ones that wrote the "fake" Steve Jobs Blog? It was obviously written as satire. The only stupid ones are the-seemingly teenager-ones posting to this, and undoubtedly many other such forums.

Read most of the thread so far. It was initially amusing, then became quite scary and putrid; filled with anti-govt wackos and people with way, way, way too much time on their hands (nor a spell checker).

Instead of reacting to titles and hype, try reading, thinking about what you read, and then reacting. It was quite clearly meant to be satirically stupid as an idea, taking down the network. Of course, that would be counter productive!

Shame on those of you who are supporting AT&T. They continue to get rich off of the iPhone at our expense. They have not invested in their infrastructure enough to support the iPhone, yet they blame it for all of their problems. The iPhone has been out for over 2 years now....how about investing some of that money back into the freaking network (like Verizon has done with their 4G network - oh and AT&T won't have 4G until 2011 at the earliest while Verizon is rolling it out next year).

I get a lot of bars on my phone, but the calls drop constantly! They have been slow with MMS support, missing their own deadline. They STILL do not allow tethering, and God know when they will actually allow that with their current network woes.

I'm not really one to join a "take down a company" campaign, but this is one that I actually feel is justified. They want to boast in their retaliation commercials against Verizon that they have "more apps" and can browse the web while talking on the phone...these are iPhone generated advantages. The consumers should be thanking Apple, not AT&T.

May the day of a Verizon iPhone come as soon as possible.

Moan, moan, moan :p

To fakestevejobs and all of you supporters of his action.
Get a life...this really will help fix the situation won't it!
Idiots
