I totally agree - I would think that someone (or some people) at AT&T has either been fired or yelled at extensively. They look pretty flaky and that's not the sort of thing Apple would drop the ball on.

I think you guys look way to narrow on this topic.
Thx to 'issues' like that the phone gets a hype even if there is no official info. FREE Publicity and advertising. Great tactic and it's cost = $0

Hmm..interesting indeed. Please expand. What was the question you asked? Or was that pulled from elsewhere?

No, it was mine, i have more screen shots. I pretended to be a dumbass and said my Brother's birthday is next week, how come they're unavailable. I then went on to say how legitimate i wanted it to be, so he didn't get caught by [you guys[apple]]. He actually told me twice about information in the next week but only got the last one. I couldn't remember if the chat goes to *Chat ended* and clears the box so I just snapped a screenshot when I could.

And yes, very interesting :)
ps, if anyone wants to see the bigger just ask.

EvanLugh:
When did that chat take place? When they say "next week" did they mean this week or the week of the 19th?

Pwned

That's my point. T-Mobile's 3G network is in it's infancy, whereas AT&T is relatively developed. I don't know why you'd switch. The only other network I'd want from a network point of view is Verizon but that's CDMA, and like you said, don't expect a CDMA iPhone any time soon.

I think you're getting me confused with someone else. I never implied that I was "going to switch." I was merely commenting and clarifying your point. :)

Right... Apple.com has *never* had any errors or leaked anything early. Riiiight.

I love the silvery/white metallic :(

uh, do you mean... chrome?

because apple is too busy dropping the ball on other things non iphone related. at least they're not bad at keeping secrets.

seems like people are skipping over this response, if "black" is also on the other phones, then obviously this isnt anything.

Seems people are skipping over my comment too...

The phones that have "Black" on them are phones that are offered in two different colors. For example, The blackjack also comes in RED, so there is a model distinction.

hey guys is there any info on whether there will be a 32gb iPhone, cus I have a 16gb touch and I would prefer a bit more space whilst having the phone! Also if I got one in the USA but didn't activate it, would I be able to bring it to England and activate it hear with o2? Thanks

This is just getting crazy. Anyone who knows jack-diddly about servers knows that code names are all over the place. This is probably nothing more that a glitch or simple slip-up. Trust me, i'm going nuts waiting for this thing, but this is a little crazy people. I guess I'm not really any better as im reading this, though! haha

How on Earth do people 'accidently' reveal such potentially crucial information?

I agree. Apple gives us bits of information so that we remain interested and that we think about this Iphone all the time and I must admit...it works.:apple:

I'm not in support of a design change to the look of the existing iPhone so heres to hoping that this is some sort of default placeholder or something.

I think this could give us a hint that they may be selling an Edge model along side the 3G model since the two options exist. Then again, they may just have the iPhone selection for those that have an Edge model before the new one is released. You could argue that if Apple were going to ship both together they would not stop shipping the current model prior to the release of the new one unless there were some kind of upgrade to it as well.

To finish my rambling they may just be offering a silver and a black version of the same iPhone. Similar to what they do with the iPod.

iPhone refresh: This afternoon?

I think it sounds absurd for the 3G iPhone to come out at WWDC. Between the revelation that o2 is sold out and now the Apple store, coupled with leaks like this, it's clear that an iPhone refresh could be literally minutes away.

Consider: Maybe this isn't a leak/mistake. Maybe it's intentional. Have they taken it down yet?

At the latest, we'll see the 3G iPhone by next week.

And at the earliest: this afternoon.

iPhone Black

I noticed on my Att account page that the iphone black is an option...I bet the 19th of may it hits.

Any chance of a quiet announcement tomorrow?

To clarify, from the looks of this page, 3G was launched by T-Mobile about 12 days ago, and only in New York City.

AT&T, on the other hand, already has 3G in place anywhere I would desire to go at the moment. They've gotten a fairly significant headstart, and it will take quite a bit for T-Mobile to catch up.

Apple never tell their people anything. The salesman was likely just saying that to stop you buying the unlocked one.

You know, I have to wonder about the abilities of the folks who manage the AT&T website. They've managed to push out the details of non-released products & services a number of times over the past few weeks. It almost seems like incompetence to me. I don't know about you, but if I ran a corporate site like that I'd make sure to have one private site to do development on, a test site to test out what you've developed, and a whole process in place to ensure nothing goes out to the production site until the appropriate time.

As an admin who takes care of the OS on some of the servers that run att.com, I can tell you that yes, there are test, stage, and production boxes. There are any number of other ways that this could have happened.

I personally am being optimistic and hoping that it is listed today because Apple intends to announce and start selling them today. 6pm? I can dream. While I'm at it, this damn thing better have GPS, or I'm spending the money on a gun I've been eyeing for a while now.

I'm betting that it is a quiet announcement. maybe not tomorrow, but before WWDC. The Apple Store on Michigan Avenue has been out of iPhones for over a week. If the only major change is 3G, that's not really a major reason for an existing iPhone customer to upgrade ... might get some new customers on board, but it's not earth shattering. No need to have a big event, just push it out the door. And I bet the black is in addition to the existing iPhone.

And I suppose there could be a 1.1.5 that adds 3G functionality, it doesn't necessarily have to wait for 2.0.
