Awesome. I sold my M4 when I realized I made a mistake with the standard models with only 8gb of memory. I couldn't open or save larger files which made it unusable for me. Opting for the terabyte storage option for the additional memory this time around. 22GB will be fine, hopefully it's more.

There were rumors in teardowns that all the iPad Pro models really had 12GB, but locked down 4.

Lesson learned.
If anyone is trying to save money and thinking of getting an 8 gb M4 iPad Pro after this one is released, I say just get a basic iPad or iPad Air. With only 8GB RAM, the M4 and M5 do not add anything to iPad experience, they are just a vastly more expensive base iPads.
I’m so glad I went with the 2TB /16GB unified RAM with nano glass model of the M4 iPad Pro.

What does the iPad Pro need an m5 for exactly, the m1 is still over kill. No one is using any app that needs an m5 for an ipad
Um, that’s not true. Final Cut Pro really benefits from the M4, as does AI inference especially on the models with 16GB RAM. And with the addition of background processing in iPadOS 26, more truly Pro apps have been announced for it as well.

Legally "deemed true" doesn't mean it's actually true. MacRumours' coverage of the alleged default is inconsistent--it implies he's in default, but also says his deadline to respond to the lawsuit was extended through October. 17, which implies he is not in default.
Well, and let’s not forget that Apple’s suit is the least of Prosser’s problems. There are several acts alleged, which, if true, would be felonies.

Do your “pro apps” also support the current RAM limitation?
There are two important points here:
First, Apple has to allow the RAM usage (according to Apple, this has something to do with data security), and second, developers have to integrate this activation. Otherwise, even 100 GB of RAM wouldn't help you.

I have not bought the iPad Pro for the RAM.
What do you use your Pro for?

No one is using Final Cut for iPad lets be honest

Name a single Android Tablet that can compete.
What has your comment to do with Apple being stingy with memory and storage for the price. Apple carges a king's ransom for those upgrades and the base configuration are insultingly low. 256gb for the starting price. You can make that observation without the need to compare this to other offerings.

Also why bring android in in the first place, the previous comments never said "Android offers more space", or are you in the "any criticism towards the billion dollar company means they are are a warrior from another billion dollar company"?

I like my Apple products, because they work good in tandem and general like the feature set of the OS, though even I find things to criticise about. One of them is a monthly data counter reset, or even the prices for upgrades in storage and memory.

yeah cue the "I want MacOS on my iPad" posts ;)
Honestly even if Apple actually released Mac OS on the iPad people would still complain. Apple and others have released Pro content creation software for the iPP/Air, it has Pro Pencil support for artists/students, they update iPad OS with full windowed multitasking features etc yet its never enough.

It will be interesting to see if Apple uses M5 for battery life improvements, instead of focusing on the small upgrade in performance. I think the M4 iPad Pro 13” is my favorite Apple device of all time and I’m someone who has owned/used Apple products going back to 1988. The second-gen MacBook Air had previously been the device that I remember being disruptive to my life (work life primarily). The M4 iPad Pro has taken that same mantle and supercharged it, given I can travel and use the iPP without needing to find WiFi, and can work [mostly] all day without needing to charge.

Is it known whether an iPad Pro 11“ will be released alongside an M5 iPad Pro 13”?

Instead of the 13“ iPad, I'm thinking about getting an 11” because it doesn't take up as much space in my bag. And an additional question: Is a new iPad Mini also coming out at the same time? I think I read something about that somewhere!

exactly... and the chief complaint would be how battery like sux and the device runs hot and slows down.

these do not have the same battery capacity as laptops.
the thinness means heat is something they work on and work around.

most apps that MacOS runs would work best with a mouse/trackpad and keyboard first not fingers.

i've tried using Excel and resizing columns on a Surface using touch only and it was hit and miss and took ages.

sometimes you need the right hardware and OS for the right job you are working on.
but you wont ever convince some people (who yell loudly on here)

Perhaps because Apple doesn't release what customers want?
And maybe, just maybe, because Apple would otherwise decimate MacBook sales?

It's not that difficult:
Apple is a profit-oriented company. They are therefore very careful to develop each product in such a way that customers are compelled to buy all of their products.

Of course, they talk about “pro apps” for the iPad. Marketing 101.
But of course, that's all nonsense.

Because, as I said, if the iPad (Pro) were good enough to replace the Mac, Apple would no longer sell Macs. So, in order to force customers to buy both, they have to withhold features from the iPad. Which is what they do.

While I’m not in the market for a new iPad due to iPadOS 26, I would sure appreciate things like PDF search gaining a little more performance with a faster SoC.

But Apple seems to be releasing what customers want. iPads and Macs are very successful. There are a lot of companies out there selling what you say “customers want” (tablets with a traditional computer OS or a similar concept) and they’re not particularly successful. Apple doesn’t live in a vacuum where they can avoid making a potential incredible product (because of internal profit optimization) without major consequences.

And another problem is seeing the iPad as a worse version of the Mac. I have an iPad Pro and a MBP, and there are tasks that are better on one or the other (or even depends on the context). This is not a linear comparison where the iPad Pro can be “good enough” overall. They’re two different devices.

Also no one is using any app that needs an M5 on a Mac. The iPad Pro doesn’t “need” an M5 in the same way the Mac doesn’t “need” it.

But, but, but... "We cannot run MacOS on an iPad cause the iPadOS is so efficient with smaller amounts of RAM." Would be interesting to see how an 8Gb MBA handles these files. Can anyone processing very large files on such a MBP chime in. Despite the snark in the first sentence, I would really like to know. Thx, NSC.
